A fantastic stay. Everything was just on point. From the service to the animation, they were simply formidable. An experience to remember and with the certainty that will be repeated in the future. See you Boa Vista!
If anybody is looking for a dream stay, this place is it! It might not be a 5* star but the place, the food, the atmosphere, the staff...it all makes it 6*! All together it is a mixture of stress free space and a guarantee of an unforgettable stay. Once you come, they welcome you with a (very) sweet drink right at the reception. Common, there are much more luxurious hotels but this one just let it soak the friendliness of its staff and the atmosphere inside you and this will be the most important for you throughout your stay. The people smile everywhere, they are always in a good mood and always so relaxed. I dare to compare it with Thailand (which I love). Once you are here, in Cabo Verde, you will stop thinking about Thailand. The service is so good here, as well as in Thailand, people are friendly as well but they never expect anything from you, no tips, they are just fine with your smile, that seems to be the most important thing for them over there. But back to the review. The rooms have everything you need. Maybe more hangers in wardrobes might be better. The water in the shower was always stable, no problem at all with warm water. The room was cleaned everyday with some nice surprise on our bed (formed from the towels). Actually, everywhere all over the resort it was very clean. You could always see people taking care of the garden and quite tired cleaning ladies as well… There was a nice fitness, almost always empty and open until evening. The food was more than delicious! Every day different food and sometimes I felt sorry about it as I really liked the previous things but every day you had so many options to choose from - meat, fish, veggies, side dishes, sweets... Also, every evening it was a different style, e.g. Mexican food. Sometimes there was also live music during the dinner and some other nice surprises. The thing that makes it all - the staff. The bartenders were always smiling, doing jokes (unlike in Thailand where everything is perfect but not so many jokes and not so relaxed people like in Cabo Verde). The animators - the best part. They always strive to make you feel relaxed, comfortable and never get bored. They offer you so many activities throughout the day (pétanque, bingo, archery, darts, aqua aerobic...) that you don't have time to think about anything else. They don't force you to join but when you see them, „you just need to join the activity“. They are extremely friendly and trying to speak with you your language - mostly the tourists were from the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Czech Republic and Portugal. They spoke all the languages (apart from Luxembourgish). Paulo, Carla, Eli, Daniela, Aaron, Dylan and …others I forgot their names - Thank you all for that amazing stay and your great performances during the evening theatre/shows!!! :) And the location? Woooow! The last hotel in a row at Praia de Chaves. So, it offers you not just the amazing view from the hotel but also completely empty beach (there were also seats and umbrellas on the beach belonging to the hotel which you could use freely - and people were taking them with their towels but weren't there, you know...), nobody to bug you on the beach selling useless stuff (there were just a few kiosks but nobody was bugging you), also dunes, light sand and ocean, nothing else at this part of the beach - and that is a real paradise! What was a bit weird, one day we received in our room a letter informing us that starting from that day we had to wear long sleeves for the dinner (before we arrived we got that information as well), otherwise we wouldn't be let in. There were people with shorts anyway, nobody told them anything. Even the following days (even people who spoke Portuguese). This was a bit weird, if there are such rules... And, something else. If you want to get a beach towel, you must present a towel card at the reception. One of our towels got lost (stolen by one of the guests? - nobody else could have stolen it actually) and so we had to pay about 20 € for it… Btw, the best of all - there were no Russians during our stay. Just Ukrainians pretending to be Czech. :)…
My friend and I stayed for a week at Iberostar late May 2022. The staff were welcoming, professional and respectful. The hotel is spotless and the grounds are stunning. The rooms are well appointed and clearly the team of cleaners are well managed; as are the grounds staff. The Animation team do a fabulous job and the entertainment is well rehearsed and very enjoyable. The food in the dining hall shows imagination and quality. The themed food evenings ensure there is a constant selection of food from around the world. Lots of fish, seafood, meat in addition to pasta, omelettes, pizza etc. The Head chef should be congratulated for the immaculate presentation and the variety available. The location of the hotel is perfect. A truly wonderful holiday. Thank you to everyone. You are rightly proud of your hotel and I will be recommending it highly to my friends.…
The hotel facilities are excellent. Love the infinity pool! The food was varied and tasty and the drinks were a good quality. Everyone at the hotel is so friendly and they really go out their way to make sure you have everything you need. There is also a great sustainability programme which is visible throughout the hotel and really great to see. I especially like that there are no plastic bottles used. Really great stay would highly recommend.
Stayed here for 2 weeks from April 29th .Hotel very clean , staff friendly and willing to help if needed .Restaurant always had plenty of different choices to choose from. Eg breakfast dinner or lunch. Pool area nice and clean, with good views overlooking the beach , if you are lucky enough you may see the Humpback whales this time of the year . You had plenty of room in your accommodation, shower, toilet , wash basin. Balcony. TV if needed. air-conditioning. This was my third time here at Boa Vista Iberostar. Would highly recommend staying here , you can have a lazy time or get up and have some good walks along the beach.
Iberostar Club, Boa Vista, what a experience, beautiful resort, beautiful staff, beautiful weather, spoilt for choice of food, excellent entertainment. What can one say perfect in every way. Put it on your bucket list.
Hi we arrived at the hotel in April for 10 days, reception was relatively quick. One massive call out though in that we were told we needed to pay for our safe in our room, an extra 30 euros. A safe in a room should never be a chargeable item, so that was disappointing. The hotel is good, not your 5 all inclusive star of more established countries such as Greece, Turkey etc, but it is a relatively high standard. So negatives - there were a few small holes in the bedding and curtains, and the mini bar was empty. Some of the parasols on the beach are in need of repair with some nails sticking out, which nearly caught me on occasion. In the restaurant the food is enjoyable but can be a bit samey. Some of it is undercover, some not. It can also run out quite quickly and there is sometimes a wait for it to be replenished. The chefs are sometimes working a number of stations that can lead to further delays, in particular the pizza chef station. We also seen a French boy on multiple occasions digging his hand into the ice cream and putting directly into his mouth, and we had to tell him not to do so. Whilst the child’s behaviour is not down to the hotel there should be controls in this day and age to prevent this from being able to happen. The positives. The people are lovely all across the island, the staff at the hotel are incredibly friendly, exuberant and warm. They are continually cleaning and sweeping up, be that in the restaurants, bars or on the way down to the beach. The beach is lovely, deep sand and always beds to be used. The hotel is environmentally friendly with its use of glass bottle refills in every room with water stations nearby. The toiletries again, environmentally used and good quality. The entertainment are enthusiastic and joyful and really seem to delight in their jobs. The food is enjoyable but the hotel would benefit from an Al carte restaurant which I am sure people would pay for at an extra charge. The hotel is remote with the nearest beach bar 20 minutes walk away but it is more that doable, and the shops in the hotel have some lovely products, gifts and jewellery. The restaurant require masks when moving around and there is sanitizer stations frequently. All in all a very enjoyable fly and flop holiday. Thank you…
We stayed here with our 1 ur old son and cannot say a bad word about it (well maybe only one but we will get to that later). The food is great - the a la carte rest was closed so I panicked but the buffet had fresh meat and fish and special dishes every day which Meade having 3 meals there for 5 nights good! The service was fast and slick - never any queues and we were there over Easter break!! The view from the restaurant is to die for. Cocktails are delicious and generous. House wine on the other hand was not that great. Food is available pretty much all day - which is lovely and it is varied and healthy too. The rooms are basic but good. Always clean. Towels super soft. Shower with great pressure. Would have liked some tea and a kettle though. Our room was next to the pool but it wasn’t loud at all during the evenings. So many activities to do - honestly we didn’t do any cause we were always with our baby. Which brings me to say, would be great if you could get a baby service for those with 0-3 yrs old. Even a paying service! The playroom also needs cleaning - it was filthy and our son was always dirty after playing there. This is my biggest negative feedback - clean that room thoroughly!!! All other areas are super clean, why not there…? :-( The beach is beautiful and the beach bar is fabulous - would be nice if it served food at lunch time or at least some healthy snacks during the day. Service is always with a smile! And everything we requested before hand via emails/msgs was done with ease - taxi organised, cot in the room, room where we wanted. Perfect! Easy checkin and out. Gym is very good and even has a bench press! We have already told all our friends to go there!!!…
I am just back from a week’s stay at this hotel with my teenage son. This is a great hotel with very friendly and hard working staff in a beautiful location. These were the highlights for us: - Incredible remote location (but near the airport) by a huge sandy beach (vast blue sea, sand dunes and very empty). The sea is stunning but rough so not suitable for swimming. Although I was told it gets calmer in July/August. - the hotel is not too big like some of the other resorts in the island. The grounds are quite green with lovely flowers and palm trees. It is very clean, the pool area was never crowded and it has plenty of activities for all ages. No pressure to do anything. My son loved the water polo and football. I enjoyed some of the aqua aerobics sessions and Zumba classes by the pool (much needed with all the great food!). - the food is tasty and plentiful. Especially considering almost nothing grows in the island due to its very dry climate. - I had a couple of massages in the spa and can highly recommend a visit. The Cape Verde ritual is a good treatment to have at the beginning of your holiday. - no single use plastic, refillable water bottles in every room, etc. - last but not least, the people working there really make your stay special. I hope they are treated well! What could be better: - although the hotels in the island provide job opportunities for the locals, the impact on the local community could go further. The cost of living in the island is high and salaries are low. I left thinking - what more could the hotel do the have a positive impact on the lives of local people and the fragile environment of the island? - The island relies almost entirely on tourism. I felt that by doing some simple things outside the resort I was directly supporting the local community. For example, we found a great local driver/guide to take us on island tours. We did two tours with him and it was great to see the island through his eyes. Through him, I found a great local artist/craftsman in Sal Rei (Art de Mar Boavista - worth a visit!). - on the more trivial side, the hotel room was pretty basic and lacked a proper full sized mirror. It would have been useful to have one. A hammock in the balcony (rather than plastic chairs) would have been perfect! Overall, we both had a very special and relaxing stay. Thank you so much to all the amazing staff for looking after us so well.…
We spent 11 nights as a family of 3 including our 15 year old daughter at the Iberostar boa vista over Easter. On arrival we were shown the side sea view room which was very dark, dated and without any sea view so we asked to change. We were given a family room near the pool and conveniently next to the gym. Much better and lighter. Room notes- 1 mirror proves a pain between 3 people. Adding another would really help. Take an extension lead for plugs- really helps! No English TV channels( we don't watch TV on holiday anyway). The worst point were the wardrobe doors kept coming off their tracks and took my Husband's complete big toe nail off on the second day and sliced right through his toe. It was reported and fixed however the damage was done. If a child had have experienced this and the door fallen on them it could have been extremely bad. Staff- just wow. The most friendly team and to be honest the Boa Vista people are the most pleasant I have ever met. A hello from everyone and the best atmosphere. Activities were great and entertaining. The dancing was excellent. Food- such variety for a small island. So fresh and lots of healthy food as well. Really the best buffet foods we have had. Drinks- unfortunately the wines are poor, soft drinks taste a little strange too but you can find something to enjoy , the cava was nice and top shelf brands on offer included. The Gym we used everyday and it's adequate. The air conditioning does NOT work however so it's very hot and sweaty. It really needs fixing as the polished floor gets very slippy and is going to cause an accident. The pool and beach are great. Lots of comfy beds and shade. Kids pool area is also well thought out. Showers, not slippy round the pool and lots of space. Overall a great 4* hotel but with 5* staff. We came for the whale watching and sun. Both did not disappoint. There's nothing really to do in Boa Vista but relax, sunbathe, eat and drink. Join in the activities and the NO STRESS atmosphere.…
