The Riu Palace Boavista is celebrated for its tranquil beachfront setting and pristine amenities, including immaculate pools and a variety of dining options. Guests have called out the hotel's exceptional service and the serenity that envelops the area, despite its proximity to the airport. While some travelers find the atmosphere lacking outside scheduled events, the spacious and clean rooms, along with the 24-hour all-inclusive offering, are considered to provide good value. However, occasional maintenance issues in rooms have been noted.

We've just returned from here (4th August), hotel is amazing. Food was superb, drinks on tap 24 hours and the location was fantastic.

Champagne on arrival at reception, checkin was smooth (but we did get a taxi 10Euro rather than TUI transfer) as we were there before the bus.

Porters on hand to take your luggage to your room.

We had a standard room, we first had 2 large single beds even though we asked for a double they then changed us day after for a massive king size bed, bathroom was shower only, but very spacious and clean.

Optics in the room were Vodka, Gin, Bacardi & Whisky all 37.5ABV or above, not your cheap option. Mini-bar consisted of beer, water (still and fizzy), coke, coke zero, sprite, fanta and tonic water.

Some apartments have their own pool, but these are not very private as they back on to the paths so everyone can see you in them!!

Pools: 3 pools right on the beach - 2 swim-up bars with a another pool in the middle of these. Staff are brilliant in these with variety of cocktails, beer, spirits, soft drinks & coffees. Hotel provides you with a card to exchange for a beach towel which you can change as and when you please

Beach; You can fall onto the beach from the beds by the pool it that close, sea is lovely, sometimes waves are strong but they have lifeguards on duty

Food

Main buffet restaurant (Africa) served breakfast, lunch & dinner. Food was outstanding, you will not starve, plenty of options for everyone.

Breakfast: Onlettes made to order, pastries, steaks, variation of eggs, fruit, milkshakes, juices, cereals and usual beans, sausgage, bacon, toasties, cold meat

Lunch: two soups plus gaspacho, variation of fresh meat, fish, pasta, pizza, salads, fruit, ice cream

Dinner: 2 carvery meat on offer every evening, sirloin steaks, veal steaks, lamb chops, pork chops, fish options (Lobster tails one evening). pasta, pizza, sushi, salads, cheese selection, breeds, vegetarian options etc

We also went to the 2 of the 3 restaurants you have to book in to, Didn't go the Steakhouse as looking at the Menu you had all this in the main buffet.

Mitzuki Japanese: It was ok, not to my taste,

Krystal: Mrs had a lovely starter, Mash, Mushrooms topped with poached egg. We then had the Duck but the sauce was too rich of for both of us.

Tip: Book these two for 7pm then if you don't enjoy it pop to main rest as open till 10pm!!

There is also a lovely coffee bar in reception which serves various coffees and cakes till midnight

Entertainment in the evening was excellent, various shows on every night from 9pm followed by live bands. Kahoot quiz most nights from 2030. Kids entertainment from 1930.

Sports bar has plenty of TV's with various live sport on and is open till 8am and had some snacks

As you drive along the cobbled road towards the hotel passing dunes to your right you turn into an oasis of greenery to the entrance. Walking through the glass doors into an air cones reception you cannot help but be amazed at the sparkle of the immaculate reception and foyer. Very bright and airy. Registration was brief and professionally dealt with. Given directions to our room and putting our stickers on our luggage we made way to our room. Walking through immaculately kept gardens we were soon at our room. Wow. The room again immaculate. Christ irone linen on the bed and the space amazing. Each room has a complimentary optics case with gin, vodka, Bacardi and whisky as well as a fridge with mixers, soft drinks and bottles of still and sparkling water. You cannot be other than amazed as you walk into the bathroom. Twin sinks, assortment of Cajun products sparkling clean towels and a full size his and her robes. The shower wow again amazing. Having secured our luggage it was off to explore. The restaurants are easy to find with 3 speciality restaurants and the main Buffett restaurant. I challenge anyone to say they couldn’t find anything to eat. The range and freshness of the food the best I’ve seen. From vegetarian, fish and meat there’s something for everyone. The sweets and puddings stunning. We only ate in the Japanese speciality restaurant such was the quality of the Buffett. There are 2 main bars one a sports bar with tv’s streaming only German sports and a 24hr snack area of hotdogs, burgers, salad boxed, sandwiches and fruit. The other bar is water served by smart, friendly and efficient staff who really work their socks off. Don’t forget to ask for the branded drinks they are there and don’t cost you any extra. Moving away from the main building down the centre boulevard you pass the swim up rooms with their little plunge pools. As you approach the beach you’ll find 3 pools one large 50m pool and 2 smaller pools each with swim up bars. Around each pool is the most sun beds I’ve ever seen. No matter what time of day you’d always find empty beds do no need to get up at dawn. The beach beds are however often claimed early. I could go on forever praising this hotel but I can only re enforce my pleasure there in that having been home 3 days I’ve already booked for next year. A real jeeel on the island of Boa Bisya.

The moment we reached our hotel we were greeted by the reception staff and looked after our whole stay. The Hotel and Rooms were really well laid out and comfortable the beds were really comfortable and the shower rooms were more than adequate. There were two lifts that could be used which were handy for moving our cases on checkout.
The views from our room were stunning with beautiful sunsets every night. The mini bar was stocked with tonic, coke normal and diet, lemonade and beer. There were optics with, Gin, Vodka, bacardi and whiskey. There were bottles of water still and fizzy replenished every other day. There was an ice machine on the ground floor of all the blocks. Room service was every day with fresh towels and bed linen if required.
The only down side to the rooms were that the soap and shower gel was rarely replenished with us having to phone to reception. The mini bar could also have had some wine as not everyone is a beer or spirit drinker. People chose to walk down to the bar and bring drinks back to their room due to this. There could have been blankets in the room as in January it can be cold at night. Overall good room facilities, decor and comfort.
The comlex was stunning with good all round facilities and entertainment. Pools were good, two having swim up bars. The sun loungers were excellent at the pools and on the beach. The bar and entertainment staff were always friendly and would strike up a conversation with you at every opportunity. The beach was stunning and clean. You could walk for miles on it loved this part so much. The food was outstanding fresh every time and plenty of it. The staff were briliiant nothing was a problem and they looked after you at every opportunity. There was spa and gym facilities although this time we did not use them. There was a small coffee facility in reception which had a really good selection of coffees and teas. There were 3 specialist restaurants which I would recommend you try, if not just to have decent wine and large glasess to put it in. The main restaurant you couldnt fault as it was immaculate and ran a couple of nights where you could pick your steak or fish to be cooked. The specialist steak restaurant for us was poor for steak choice as hotel uses veal, so no fillet, sirloin etc.
The evening entertaiment staff were fabulous and worked very hard on their routines. Their shows were really good. Overall this Hotel complex was oustanding for us so much so we have booked for next January.

We usually have a winter holidays in Florida and more recently Jamaica. We wanted to try a winter destination that didn’t incur a long haul flight and decided to try Cape Verde, we are so glad we did!
The Rui Place Boavista was for us a perfect destination from the immaculate comfortable rooms, location, food and service.
We enjoyed the buffet food, I don’t think I have ever seen staff at other hotels check the temperature of the yogurt, they do here! My husband feasted every day on various sea foods and was in heaven.
Alcohol is branded and we enjoyed the cocktails on offer.
The pools are kept at a pleasant temperature encouraging you to stay awhile and enjoy a drink at the swim up bar.
If you are hoping to snorkel or spend time swimming in the sea this probably isn’t the location for you as strong currents make it difficult however my husband did manage a few dunks!
The staff here are one of the hotels biggest assets, from the young man who helped with our cases to the many waiting and bar staff. We found them to all be helpful and cheerful.
We barely left the hotel but did venture out to try 2 of the local beach bars and are so glad we did, a beautiful coastal walk with a warm welcome at each of the bars.
We now are looking forward to lovely holidays in our new favourite destination.

Arrived on Boxing Day and was welcomed with a glass of bubbly which was nice.

Check in was reasonable and the staff on reception where friendly.

The hotel room had everything you needed, iron, hair dryer etc - the shower is excellent, very powerful and big.

We stayed in room 199 which was near the main restaurant.

The hotel has 3 pools and is on the beach - the pools are big and there were no issues getting a bed.

The food in the restaurant is nice but there don’t have themed nights so most of the food is repeated daily but it is of good quality.

Massive shout out to Dino who keeps the drinks flowing at your evening meal.

Negatives:

The staff at the pool bars can be very rude when you ask for more than 2 drinks or for a drink they have to make (Long Island cocktail really presses their buttons).

We tried to book the themed restaurants on the 2nd day we arrived only to be told they were fully booked until the day we were leaving which was very disappointing. When checking in we was asked to come back “tomorrow” to book the restaurants to be then told we can’t go.

The airport (nothing to do with the hotel) is a joke and is unbearable, my advice would be get there as early as possible otherwise your in for a long stand after you get through the long queues.

On a whole I would recommend the hotel but think after the 2nd time of experiencing the airport will be enough for me not to return.

Our third time in Cape Verde and by far the best experience. Nice to see international standards of modern decor with very carefully thought out facilities, especially the coffee shop. Beautiful, reception area, although some of the lighter chairs were looking a bit tired. Friendly welcome, prompt check in and luggage to room. Unfortunately, the lift was out of order for our 10 day stay and as my partner has a problem with his knees but only on 2nd floor. Fabulous room - extremely spacious with one of the best bathrooms we have ever had. Spotlessly clean except perhaps for the bedding and pillows which were ready for replacing. However, our request for extra pillows was dealt with quickly. Plenty of coat hangers, free safe, tea, coffee, optics and fridge with mixers, soft drinks and water. Coffee creamer only for tea so we brought some milk up from the restaurant. The main restaurant was particularly well designed with a central food area enclosed by glass with automatic doors so flies weren't an issue. It was surrounded by outdoor seating and an indoor dining room, to one side, which had crisp, white table linen. The majority of the food was prepared fresh in the restaurant and the choice was exceptional, except for anyone who was gluten free. Although there was soya milk, I would have liked to have been able to have soya yogurt. We didn't visit the other restaurants which required booking, as their menus didn't cover our needs. The pool restaurant also mirrored the same high standards. Selection of drinks was the best we have ever experienced all inclusive, particularly the sparkling wine. Great early evening pianist and great service in all bar areas. The entertainment was amazing, although perhaps not everyone's cup of tea. The animation team/dancers were very talented and worked hard doing a different show every night. Great staging and production but could have done with a couple of tribute nights such as Abba etc. Every member of staff gave exceptional service and were very friendly. Loved the little shop which wasn't the usual tat! Will be going back next year if we can face the awful Tui flights :-(

We stayed for 11 days in January 2020 in a standard room and really enjoyed our holiday. Transfer was 5 minutes from the airport and aeroplane noise was hardly noticeable from outside. Check in was easy, the room was large & had an excellent bathroom with power shower, tea & coffee makings, quiet aircon, comfy bed & pillows and balcony with sea view (non of the rooms or more expensive plunge pool apartments have an unobstructed view of the sea). All kept spotlessly clean by housekeeping. Food was very good with plenty of choice in the buffet restaurants & the 3 speciality restaurants made a nice change (book at reception on day 1). 3 large outside swimming pools with pool bars & a private beach all with lots of sunbeds & plenty of umbrellas. Weather was warm & a bit windy in early January (cardigans required in the evening). Disappointingly the Sports Bar showed German football , not UK Premier League. Evening entertainment from 9 - 10 pm was excellent (if you want karaoke go to the RIU hotel next door). One hours walk up the beach takes you to the principle town Sal Rei which is a bit run down (10 euro taxi back) RIU & TUI seem to be the main employers in this part of the island so well done to them for supporting the local economy. Finally a big thank you must go to the staff who from housekeeping to restaurant to entertainment were just brilliant. Definitely recommended.

we have returned from a week in this hotel at the beginning of February to escape the worst of the English weather. the staff are amazing, they work very hard and are smiling chatty to customers making the experience wonderful and i guess on not much pay. however they ensure that the service they provide is excellent. from the minute we checked in to leaving every staff member and many were quite young but they obviously have been well trained. the food was varied each day,but we were too slow in booking the theme restaurants so ate in the buffet. plenty of choice well presented and changing ever evening.
the rooms were large well cleaned and maintained, large bathroom, balcony, aircon, tv, wifi throughout all areas of the hotel better than many European hotels.
in the bar area Lanny was efficient and ran the team of waiters effectively. the only down side was the wind, which made me cold at times when sitting by the pool and resulted in the red flag flying every day and the sea to dangerous. there was a great walk along the beach which i did most mornings and took an hour. overall the trip was great for winter sun and only a 6 hour flight away

We've stayed here twice and booked again for June 2020. Only 5 mins from the airport, so no lengthy coach trip!

The hotel is well laid out, we had a swim up room which was great for cooling off, but did spend most days up to around 2/3pm on the beach.

The food is great with lots of choice, typical Riu but great, we didn't try the on site restaurants as we don't like to be held to a certain time to eat and the main buffet was perfect anyway.

The coffee shop in the main reception area is a lovely added touch, plus they offer cakes and pastries too, all included too which was a nice surprise.

Rooms were always cleaned to a very high standard and if you do have a problem the reception staff get it sorted straight away.

Would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break, there is not a lot else to do and no shopping!

We went to this hotel as a family of three, with our daughter being 2 years old. We are regular visitors to Cape Verde, but we normally go to the island of Sal and this was our first trip to the island of Boa Vista.

We fell in love with the place. It is out of this world amazing. The people are so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. This includes every single staff member we came across from the bar staff, Reception staff, security, etc. They made such a fuss of our daughter every time they saw her. Waving, playing, asking for high fives. She had the best time. The entertainment team were also great (August in particular) and our little one was a regular at the kids mini disco and she still talks about her ‘dancing turtle’ Riu’s mascot) now. She wouldn’t leave the poor turtle alone and the staff would often carry her around with them and dance with her every night. (Huge thanks to the staff for this, it made her holiday and ours seeing her little face) They would even make special trips to her during the day, letting her play in the ‘crazy game’ (even though she was too young really) and other pool side activities. The staffs energy and dancing is infectious and thanks to every member of staff, we had an amazing time. Best holiday to date.

The rooms were spotless, everywhere in the hotel was spotless, the food was always to a high standard with a huge variety. The bars were great never had to queue and there were loads and loads of sun beds left whatever time you got to the pool/beach and you could choose between the sun and the shade. No need to get up early for a sunbed. A truly relaxing holiday. The beach and the view from the pool on to the beach is one of the most beautiful beaches and views I’ve ever seen.

We loved it so much we rebooked again for this summer. We love Cape Verde and find the people their to be so happy and friendly it really is a ‘no stress’ holiday and I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough, especially for young families. Thank you Cape Verde and Riu - you never disappoint.

VB tours fantastic. The dune buggies is a fantastic thing to do but they have a range of excursions. We’ve snorkelled there and not the best to be honest. Hotel is great. Enjoy

I have mobility problems , is this hotel very spread out. Thanks

Not massively spread out but if you get in touch with the hotel ( email on Riu website or app) and request a room close to the restaurant and bars they are very good at allocation. This hotel is wheelchair friendly and has lifts if you didn’t want ground floor. Again you’d be best to request a room near a lift. The walkway down to the beach/pools isn’t to far. Hope this helps. It’s a beautiful hotel
