I love this hotel/resort because it’s so big so you can easily get in daily walks along the beach and around the premises. Friendly staff and the place is so cleaned. Free bar in the room. Tons of great food choices! C and USB charging contacts in room. The shop had great selections to a good price. Lots of entertainment every evening! I will come back

Hotel's Favorite
I don’t normally do reviews, but felt like I had to address some of the reviews we read before we went and call out their BS: “There is nothing to do, no nightlife” - it’s the perfect relax holiday, no busy streets, no touristy destinations, just pure sandy beaches and the occasional hotel… perfect for us, if you don’t like that go to the canaries. The motto of the island is “no stress” and everyone (staff in particular) really vibes this. “The alcohol is really watered down” - they literally serve you half a glass of it, so if it is watered down they make it back up by filling your glass right up with it! “The pool isn’t very good” - the pool was very spacious and a separate young kids pool around the corner, which meant plenty of space. It was really clean and yes a few tiles missing but who actually cares? Plus we spent half the day at the pool bar, being served cocktails and spirits whilst half in the pool… what more do people want?! “The staff weren’t very helpful” - this is by far the best resort we have been too for staffing. They are always dancing, always smiling, wanting to know you a little more, they remember your names, drinks, accent… just really lovely people, I wish we had more of that attitude in the UK. At the pool bar they dance like 3 times a day with bottles on their head and all kinds of crazy stuff, they look like they love working with each other and for the company which really radiated off! They were also so good at like 100 different languages which is crazy to me! “The food was a little bland” - it’s an all inclusive resort… it’s not a Michelin star restaurant… but the food was really good, plenty of choice for everyone, beautifully cooked meats and everything was fresh. “It’s very windy” - who isn’t looking at the weather before they book?! It is windy which keeps a nice cool breeze on during the day and reduces the temp in the evening. Never felt like you was sweating and still plenty of sun, so many people were red as the UV is crazy high! Overall this is by far the best resort we have been too for the whole round experience, the staff make it feel relaxing and alive. If I wanted a proper recharge after a few busy months work, I would 100% return… and we’ve never returned to a resort before…! Thank you to everyone at the resort who made our stay really special, keep up that no stress attitude 😎

Just returned from 2 weeks in Boa Vista. Weather was fabulous hotel lived up to most expectations. Rooms comfortable and cleaned every day. Food was usual buffet style which can seem a bit "samey" but we tried the Asian and Italian restaurants and enjoyed both for change. Best thing about the hotel was the staff - always cherrful and happy to help especially the guys who ran the aqua gym classes - they were amazing! Thanks guys! Unfortunately one small complaint. We have used Riu hotels before in Cape Verde and one of the things we really like is having spirit optics in the room so you can have a drink on your balcony rather than always going to the bar. On arrival we noticed that we had gin, white and dark rum and whiskey/brandy but no vodka which is our tipple of choice. Having asked for this to be changed on the Riu app on two occasions with no response, I asked at Reception and was told that vodka was only available in the swim up rooms!! I pointed out that the hotel was all inclusive and vodka was readily available at the bar. I was given no adequate reason for this arrangement and I feel that this should have been available. Why upset a customer for presumably a slight difference in the cost of a bottle of vodka as opposed to a bottle of gin - absolutely crazy. Without this issue, my review would have been 5 stars. All inclusive means all inclusive surely!! This wasn't made clear in the hotel details - if it had been, I would have bought a bottle at duty free to have in the room. Riu management need to consider whether this policy is worth it when it upsets customers.

We stayed at Karamboa on 2nd Feb for 10 days. The weather was amazing the whole time, hot with a breeze. Pros: Swim up room - loved it, we used every single day. Yes it's not an Olympic sized pool but a plunge pool. We were allocated a corner room so had a little more patio to use. Room 4146, has sun all day with a little shade from trees. Room was clean and spacious, shower was fab and the bed was so comfortable, we both slept like babies. Aircon was a bit lacking. Food - loads of choice, fresh, hot, and tasty Breakfast was amazing. The 3 restaurants were OK, we did not stay up til midnight to book we just checked daily and managed to get in the Kulinarium once, Italian once and Japanese twice. Pool - 5 to choose from, we chose the quiet pools as wanted to relax, loads of sunbeds please don't get up at ridiculous o'clock as there are lots available. We never went into the swim up pools or piss pools as we called them as the same faces were sat in them all day ewww! Grounds - beautifully manicured, staff work tirelessly to keep them looking amazing. Staff - wow they are so friendly and work so hard. Kneilson in the dining room whizzed around and literally never stopped, he was on the ball with drinks and always had a lovely smile. Beach - gorgeous! As far as you can see both ways. The sea was mainly red flags while we were there, we paddled but didn't venture in. Con's Aircon in our room was lacking and if it wasn't for the ceiling fan we would have struggled. Food service area - although the food was lovely actually getting it was a nightmare! It was a scrum and made me anxious. I was physically bumped out of the way by a guest, guests pushing in when queuing for certain foods (like roast meat etc). The size of the area is way too small for the amount of guests. Literally it was packed and put us right off. Entertainment - was ok but not great. We did enjoy some of the acts that were on before the main 9pm show, 2 lads with guitars were fab. We tended to sit in the lobby bar and chatted. The white and neon party were very lively and lots of people had fun but it wasn't our scene. Minibar - 1 water bottle for 2 people for 2 days was ridiculous and although you can order more, it waz a little hit and miss that we got it so we ended up getting extra bottles from the bar. On a general note, we have stayed previously at the Palace next doirwhich was lovely, had premium drinks, slightly better quality food and the dining food area was much less frantic. What confuses me is it feels like the Karamboa should be family's and the Palace for adults only. Would we go again....yes definitely but we'd stay in The Palace.

Well, it was amazing! We are frequent travellers, and for the first time ever in our lives; age 56 & 52, we have not one complaint. Accommodation, reception service, communal areas, beach, food, drinks, all-inclusive mini-bar in our room, entertainment team & Tui’s full day Island tour finished our week off perfectly. Albeit, we wanted to stay longer 😢. I’ll be honest, we are very very fussy & like everything as we believe it should be. But honestly, a big shout out to RIU Karamboa & all staff for a magical holiday. We are in the process of booking the same week next year…bring it on!

Room was comfortable, modern and a good size. Walk in shower and great mini bar and coffee/tea making. Cleaned daily to a great standard. Pools area were very crowded and sun beds very close together. Great if you want to chat to people next to you, but difficult to find a quiet spot. Pools very clean. Good activities and exercise classes, for those who wish to join in. The pool toilets were ultra clean and smelt of bleach. The staff worked really hard all day cleaning them! Beach was the quietest place to sun bath. Life guards on duty as it can be dangerous to swim in the sea. Buffet food was excellent and a very very wide selection of hot and cold food. Drinks were alright, but cocktails were mostly pre-mixed and therefore very disappointing. The three specialist restaurants were disappointing. The Gourmet was the best of a bad bunch. Food was served to you and was of a good quality. The Italian and Asian restaurants had buffet food which was almost identical to the regular buffet restaurant. Although this hotel is graded five staff, it’s the guests who let it down. People turning up for lunch with a towel wrapped around them, men not wearing a top, sports shorts being worn for evening dinner, etc, etc.

We stayed here early Feb for my husbands birthday and we were treated to a fabulous stay from the moment we arrived. We had let the hotel know it was his birthday and on the big day we were treated to a bottle of Champagne in our room. We had also booked one of the 3 al a carte restaurants and another bottle of fizz at the table. Food excellent, service excellent, it couldn't be faulted. Pretty much like the rest of our stay. The hotel is vast but you never ever feel that its crowded, not even in the buffet style restaurants. Again, the food is excellent as is the service although you do have to get your own drinks initially, although, get to know your waiter or waitress and they will gladly replenish your drinks for you at the table. This was definitely one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Being an adults only all inclusive hotel gives you the freedom to pretty much do as you please and that's just what we did..... Absolutely nothing but chill out. Hotel is situated on one of the best beaches we have seen with beautiful walks in both directions. The rooms are very well equipped with plenty of drinks choices from the mini bar that is replenished every day with any additional charge. Great choices from the optics in the room too!! Everything about this hotel is quality and I would definitely visit again sometime in the future. ALL staff were friendly and very helpful at all times. Really enjoyed ourselves and felt refreshed and relaxed on our departure!!

Hotel Karamboa on Boa Vista is an adults only destination. We visited in February when the temperature everyday was 26° - 27° with a lovely warm breeze. There is a lot to like about Hotel Karamboa. It’s only 6 hours from Manchester. The transfer from airport to hotel is literally 5 minutes. The all inclusive dining room was excellent, especially the fish, salads and fruit. All the staff seemed happy, were efficient and polite. Our room was spot on with a lovely sea view. What would I change? I think that next time we would upgrade to a room with a private sunbathing area and swim up pool because it can be quite crowded by the main pools and on the beach. There is a gym in the spa centre, but the equipment is poor and the facility isn’t large enough for the number of folks wanting to use it. However the steam room/plunge pool/sunbed combo is excellent. There are smarter hotels and destinations out there, but Tui and Riu have put together a great value for money package.
