Lovely hotel complex staff were superb, the complex is being updated and is closed until November 2022 now already booked for May 2023 can’t wait to see the changes, the pool has started to look tired and needs updating photo attached was the view from our balcony
So sad We booked this hotel in 2019 ,(34 months) with three chaged dates due to Covid and a price hike each time, with great reviews and promises. We were ready. No mater what the good things the hotel had the fact that the hotel was due to close for refurbishment ruined it. Everything ended up on the main stage. No disco bar karaoke poor entertainment. No hoilday feeling from the staff (not there fault) themed restaurants not open on days By the fist week we had an almost private pool and what seemed to a skeleton staff Walking around the hotel you saw staff removing equipment as you were going to the beach There was so many things missing We had paid for two full weeks off hoilday service and this should not of happen until the last guest left. The hand basin cracked (we pointed this out) When we said the hotel services are poor we just got the expectation we are closing for refreshments and not many guests It's sad but between tui and rui they have ruined a good planed hoilday Outside the hotel not a lot to do a couple of nice bars The day trips are a must. half day land-rover and nights on the beach guilds informative We have pointed this out to the helpful tui rep …
First time visiting the RIU karamboa and what a experience it was. From checking in to leaveing the staff have been nothing but friendly, the cleaners, receptionists, bar staff, entertainers etc..... All very polite, happy going people. The food is amazing, such a variety aswell. Food I've never had and it was spot on. The pool bar staff are the most entertaining people you will ever meet, bar opens at 10:30am and from opening to close they are always smiling, laughing and singing to the music, they just make you feel so welcome. The hotel it self is 5* rated and we've had a 5*service throughout, amazing 10 days we've had and will definitely be returning when the new refurb has happened. Obrigada :)
Great hotel staff so friendly foot great pool area not so good due to missing tiles in pool the hotel is due to be closed soon for the refurbishment at the pool area so looking forward to returning next year
The staff were all amazing at the karamboa, we hope the proposed refurbishment adds to the whole experience. The flight time of nearly six hours is hard to bear, with no in flight entertainment, but on the whole, when you get there that is soon forgotten
I am currently at this hotel but couldn’t wait to write this review. I am so confused by all the negative reviews which really worried me before I came it seems as if they were at a completely different hotel! Pool - The pool is beautiful and so big! With loads of sun lounges! No need to claim early in the morning! The pool bar is lovely too! Food - there is so much choice!! I just can’t believe how much there is. Something for everyone! There is also themed restaurant that you have to book. (Do this an advanced as they book up quickly!) We went to the cape verdian restaurant which was lovely great themed food and a buffet for starters! Entertainment - There is lots of things going on throughout the day like volleyball, fun fitness, bingo and much more! There is African entertainment from about 9 till 10 then karaoke from 10/10:30 till 12 which is a great laugh! All I would say is entertainment after 12 is lacking. The hotel is going through renovations from next week so some things are shut. I think this applies to the nightclub. (Or we might just not have found it as the hotel is huge!) Rooms- the rooms are lovely. All you need for a room. They are quite dark but it’s very themed so I love this effect! Staff- so far the staff have been absolutely wonderful their always quick to help with your needs. The TUI team is always on hand. We have booked quad biking and a sunset dinner which my partner has do me before and said it was great fun! Beach- the beach is beautiful! Again lots of sun lounges and so clean! All inclusive - I have never been on an all inclusive where I have been old enough to truly enjoy it. The last time I went on holiday I was 14 (due to covid) I’m now 19! And can’t believe how much you get for free!! ESPECIALLY THE WINE ON TAP 🤩 Over all this hotel is amazing and I definitely recommend! As said previously the hotel is going under renovation from next week where they are changing it to adults only so I will be excited to see what changes!…
Overall, our stay was fantastic. Elements of the hotel are in clear need of refurbishment, but this does not detract from the overall experience we had while staying at the Karamboa. As other reviews have alluded to, the distance from the resort to the airport is probably 2 minutes by bus, however, at no point did we hear a single aircraft arrive or leave. The rooms in the hotel are a little dated but provide all the amenities you would need for your stay. They were very clean and the members of staff responsible for cleaning did a great job. The balconies provide great sweeping views of the hotel and of the beach and sea. There is a good selection of food (particularly if you like fresh seafood). There are separate vegetarian sections away from meat products to avoid cross-contamination - the hotel do the best they can with this, but can't help if guests start using serving spoons from other areas. While we stayed, the Asian and Cape Verdean were open for dinner, but not the African (Las Dunas). The Asian offered a great spread of hot food as well as a selection of sushi ans sashimi (the tuna sashimi is out of this world). The Cape Verdean was good - the Octopus stew a must, the grill was slightly disappointing. The pool is in need of refurbishments. Large areas of it are missing tiles which does detract from its look, but not its functionality. We spent much more time on the beach which is astonishingly nice. The wind at times was strong, but generally it was fine - this did make the sea a little rough for swimming, but great for splashing around in the waves. The sand is something out of a story book and the views up and down the beach are incredible. Sun loungers were very comfortable. The staff are a credit to this hotel and the RIU group more generally. Every single member of the team was friendly and more than willing to make our stay even better. A big thanks to the reception team for the complimentary birthday bottle - very nice gesture. More generally, I would recommend taking a few trips out of the hotel. Seeing the southern part of the island (including Santa Monica beach) via ATV was a real highlight.…
We flew home on the 13th May and I have to say we had the holiday we were hoping for, lovely hotel, fantastic staff and great food and perfect weather for early May 27 c. We spent all our days on the beach and our nights in the lovely entertainment room where its equipped with 2 bars and a self service area, so we were never far away from the drinks, we would never have a problem coming back in the future, all in all just what the doctor ordered
Absolutely loved hotel karamboa had an amazing stay.Beautiful setting and buildings make this the perfect place to stay. All the staff are extremely hardworking, friendly and very helpful. The food and drinks are really good .The pool and surrounding are beautiful
Staff was very friendly found the room to be very tired and lacked privacy due to having no door on the bathroom and they was no light in the shower.Found the cocktails to be a huge disappointment not the same as other riu hotels I’ve stopt in the past they are all pre mixed with alcohol added just did not enjoy them at all! Red wine was just ok.do not know if I would return to this hotel in the future.
