Hotel's Favorite
I don’t normally do reviews, but felt like I had to address some of the reviews we read before we went and call out their BS: “There is nothing to do, no nightlife” - it’s the perfect relax holiday, no busy streets, no touristy destinations, just pure sandy beaches and the occasional hotel… perfect for us, if you don’t like that go to the canaries. The motto of the island is “no stress” and everyone (staff in particular) really vibes this. “The alcohol is really watered down” - they literally serve you half a glass of it, so if it is watered down they make it back up by filling your glass right up with it! “The pool isn’t very good” - the pool was very spacious and a separate young kids pool around the corner, which meant plenty of space. It was really clean and yes a few tiles missing but who actually cares? Plus we spent half the day at the pool bar, being served cocktails and spirits whilst half in the pool… what more do people want?! “The staff weren’t very helpful” - this is by far the best resort we have been too for staffing. They are always dancing, always smiling, wanting to know you a little more, they remember your names, drinks, accent… just really lovely people, I wish we had more of that attitude in the UK. At the pool bar they dance like 3 times a day with bottles on their head and all kinds of crazy stuff, they look like they love working with each other and for the company which really radiated off! They were also so good at like 100 different languages which is crazy to me! “The food was a little bland” - it’s an all inclusive resort… it’s not a Michelin star restaurant… but the food was really good, plenty of choice for everyone, beautifully cooked meats and everything was fresh. “It’s very windy” - who isn’t looking at the weather before they book?! It is windy which keeps a nice cool breeze on during the day and reduces the temp in the evening. Never felt like you was sweating and still plenty of sun, so many people were red as the UV is crazy high! Overall this is by far the best resort we have been too for the whole round experience, the staff make it feel relaxing and alive. If I wanted a proper recharge after a few busy months work, I would 100% return… and we’ve never returned to a resort before…! Thank you to everyone at the resort who made our stay really special, keep up that no stress attitude 😎

This hotel is nearly perfect great food, wonderful people, nothing is too much trouble 90% of the time. It has had a upgrade in most of the hotel unfortunately our room was not one of those rooms, but it was cleaned everyday. The only thing that got to me frustratingly was the very poor service to refill the room fridge and the optics these seemed to be very slow to refill even after talking to the front desk and the TUI rep

Riu Karamboa maintains a high-quality with a very nice staff as always are helpful, not forgetting all the staff in the restaurants The newly renovated hotel is clean and tidy. The different restaurants are of a good standard with mixed specialties. The pool area with three pools is clean and fresh. Unfortunately, it blew a little too much to swim in the sea. Otherwise, there is only good to say about the hotel.

Adult only resort. Cons Quite windy and strong waves. Red flag almost every day. So no ocean swimming….But when it is not windy it is amazing!!!!! No iron in the room. Pros 10 minutes from the airport. The resort is very well maintained with lots of pools and activities. People working in the resort are super friendly and calm. They help you no matter what and they don’t expect any tips. Fast check in and check out. Food it is repetitive (it is an all inclusive resort) but with great choices daily. From soups, appetizers, grilled fish, pork, chicken, beef, lamb, desserts and fruits. You will find something that you’ll like. All the pools are clean. The snack bars at the beach have BBQ chicken legs or wings sometimes, pork ribs, sausages, burgers, hot dogs and pork belly with fries and baked potatoes. Good quality drinks as you can get in all inclusive resorts. No Hennessy or JW. Estrella beer. The restaurants have beer, soft drinks and red/white/rose wine on the tap. The room (5122) was cleaned every day and every day a nice towel figure was waiting for us!!!! The fridge was refilled daily with soft drinks and beer. TV and safe. As I mentioned there is no iron. USB ports to charge your phone. European style plugs. AC was working perfectly. In the shower there is a shampoo/conditioner bottle. Regular soap bars in the bathroom. White sand on the beach. Long beach so you can walk or run every morning.

Well arrived 4 days ago. Third time at this hotel. First time was the year it opened and thought it was beautiful. Second time here was 2017 and still beautiful and noticed the palm trees had doubled in size. This time the hotel has just opened following refurb and it is a-freak in-mazing. The lobby is the first thing you see and it is so light. All the dark wood has gone to be replaced with a mixture of modern retro and art novo furniture. There is something to catch the eye in all direction. The bedrooms carry the theme with light wood on walls and bed. Gone are the bead curtains at the wardrobe to be replaced by sliding doors. Optic bar has complimentary alcoholic. Some of the rooms have plunge pools ( ground floor only...go figure) there are five pools, all rectangular and two have swim up bars and grill stations ( you have to get out of the water for them though). And let's not forget the waterworld. Not for the faint hearted. If you have been hare before the refurb it is definitely worth another visit. What's not too love.

The hotel Karamboa is an adults only resort on Boa Vista island. There are few activities off the resort although there are taxis available to take guests to the town. It’s basically expected that you will stay on-site, though, which I think is ok for a week if you’re happy to sunbathe, swim, read etc. it’s a bit windy for playing cards outside! It’s all-inclusive and the food is basically what you’d expect, not extravagant but plenty of Iran’s quite a lot of variety. I’m not sure that it would suit picky eaters. The demographic seems to be younger couples , still childless, and those whose families have grown up and moved on. British, Germans, French seemed to be the main nationality groups. A few elderly, like me, which is where the problems arise: no lifts and long distances to walk between accommodation, restaurants and pools/beach. I managed to hire a mobility scooter from the company which runs the Dune buggies, but he only has two or three. It made a huge difference to my enjoyment of the holiday- I was really struggling with the distances. Accommodation, restaurants and all public areas, inside and out, are kept immaculate and staff are charming.

MY friend and I stayed at Riu Karamboa for a week. We had a lot of fun and the hotel is fab overall. Overall view in short context - Majority of the travellers are 50+ however there is plenty of activities for everyone. Entertainment Was fantastic, the entertainment team do amazing job. However if you are planning on staying for longer than a week, you may find that etnertainment is repetative. However they had round africa, cape verde, rock and ABBA shows which were amazing and their white/neon party is fantastic (every friday), they bring disco to you... Also the entertainment team could not have been more encouraging, they were trying to invlove everyone in the activities and always stopped by travellers asking them have they are/how their holiday is going, and reminding them fun only no stress, which was amazing :) Pools Very clean and well maintained. Rooms Modern and kept to reasonable standards. Mini bar should be restocked everyday, however we realised on 3rd day when our mini bar got restocked (we asked for it) that we should have been getting it restocked everyday (Our main priority was water), which we did have to wait for the next day. The floor lacked some cleaning as walking around your feet were brown from floor dirt, so i do wish the floors were mopped rather than vaccum/sweeped. AI service Brilliant, cannot fault it. Between 7.30am (ish) to 10pm (ish) you have food continously as well as some bars open til 4am (sports bar), where you can continue enjoying AI drinks. Beach The current is very strong for swimming, which most of the time makes it unsafe to swim or even just stand in the water. However there is plenty of space round the pool and you can enjoy beach sand in between. Staff/Service staff and service overall was good. The only thing i would say is that we wished reception staff were more helpful on us finding out about local exurcsions rather than having to go through TUI. As we would have preferred to have supported the locals directly, plus it is more cost effective which would allow you to attend other exurcsions especially if you budget is tight.
