After going back and forth between starting at Buffalo and driving over to Niagara, vs staying at the Giacomo as it was so close to the falls, we decided to stay here, which was a big mistake. We checked in to stay at the Empire suite, on the 15th floor. Due to flight delays, we were able to reach the hotel only pretty late at night. We were given they keys to our room and pointed to the elevator, with no one to accompany us as it was pretty late. On opening the room, we were stunned to see the state of the room: there was an excess of dust everywhere, like the room had not been cleaned for a while. Behind the bed, on the mattress support, dust bunnies on the floor etc. Additionally, there were cobwebs right above the bedroom ceilings of both the rooms, with exposed pipes, and some dampness on the wall of the Master bedroom. On opening the laundry room, there was a blast of stale air, that felt like that room hadn't been opened for quite a while, and we had to close the door immediately. The Air conditioning/cooling/heating system is additionally inside the room, in a closet door kind of place right opposite the entrance door. As it was so late at night, and we had an early start the next day, we didn't have much of an option but to stay there for the night. We were them awoken multiple times through the night at 3:30am, etc by multiple alarms around the suite that must have been set by the previous tennats, and just left that way. We asked to checkout and leave the first thing once we were back from our morning tour. While the people at the Front desk were not in the least apologetic, and came across as more defensive and borderline aggressive with claims like you had time to check your room in check-in (not possible as we had a late night check in with no one to walk us through the room) or that they were sorry their room 'wasn't up to our standards' (I'm pretty sure the not cleaned state the room was in is not up to ANY reasonable person's standards), they were ok to be willing to refund us for us not staying the next night, with a $100 refund for the room not being cleaned, and harried us to check out asap, which we were happy to do so and drove over to Buffalo. I can't speak for the state of other rooms here, but definitely avoid the Empire suite! The pictures are not even CLOSE to representative of the actual room! Stay at Buffalo: it's only a 20 - 30 minutes drive over to the falls, and The Westin at Buffalo is an excellent stay!…
We stayed at this hotel years ago and loved it, but the hotel has really gone downhill. The front desk person was nowhere to be found upon check in, and he really didn't seem to care to be there. The woman in the bar was rude and unprofessional and our room was dirty and quite shabby. To say that we were disappointed is really and understatement.
The room was great and the hotel had very interesting decor that my wife loved. Breakfast was provided as requested and on time in the morning. The location was perfect between the Falls and the casino. The room was clean and the hot tub was awesome after touring the Falls!
This hotel was a complete disappointment. The location was great but I can't say anything else positive about the hotel. The service was terrible. The hotel staff obviously didn't care much about their jobs and let the guests know this. The rooms are old which isn't a problem if they are taken care of and cleaned but this wasn't the case. There was mild in the bathroom, ripped carpet, and terrible water pressure (it takes 40min to fill the bath). I couldn't be more disappointed with the stay overall. I recommend staying away from this hotel
We recently stayed at the Giacomo Hotel. When we arrived we were surprised to see that the room was in need of a little TLC. The cabinet door was broken and the sheets had blood stains on them. Also the bath was not clean. We didn't mention this because we were only staying for one night and thought it wasn't worth it to complain. The check in staff also seemed a bit too casual, I think they were napping when we arrived. They just spoke to us in a monotone voice without any eye contact and were obviously very aloof about their job. I checked my credit card statement a day after checking out and noticed I was charged a $200 fee with no explanation. I called the hotel and the manager, Baba, told me that we had been charged because there was evidence of smoking in the room. We did not smoke in the room. I asked to speak with the GM but Baba would not put me through. We just kept going in circles with him insisting that the room 'smelled of smoke', I highly recommend staying away from this hotel company as this situation is considered fraudulent activity. You don't know what else they might do to take your money.…
We spent a night there at the beginning of the week. Standard services. Nothing to report here. The surprise came the day after our stay when we saw that a 200 dollars hold was taken on our credit card. We called to see what that was about and surprise again: the manager told us that they found an “evidence” of smoking in the room, hence the 200 dollars hold. According to him, there was a smell of tobacco in the room. We certainly don’t know where it comes from as there was no tobacco smell in that room when we checked out and we did not smoke in the room. When we tried to explain the manager (He told us he goes by Baba) that we didn’t smoke in the room, he completely refused to listen to us, nor give us the name of his superior or a way to file a complain. He then categorically state that we were going in circle, that there was nothing else to say and that they will not return that 200 dollars hold. I recommend staying away from this hotel as what they are trying to charge us with is fraudulent activity.…
We had requested a late check in and late check-out and were taken care of completely. The staff is knowledge and friendly. The vintage look and feel was amazing. Our room was, clean spacious and conformable. It was a plus to be able to leave our dog in the room unattended. The location is great and the views from the sky lounge were good. I thought it was a nice touch to have a personized welcome letter waiting for us and to have room service breakfast since the restaurant was not open due to the pandemic. Would recommend to anyone, especially people with pets.
This hotel has a very vintage feel in a tall 19 story brick building very close to the river. I absolutely love that they bring a complementary breakfast to your room and they even surprised us with cookies and milk in the evening! It is also nice to have a big jacuzzi tub if you have little ones. It really felt like they went above and beyond to take care of us from the little towel arrangements to the food I would high recommend you stay here!!!
On arrival we received free welcome cookies and milk to our bedroom. Free parking across the road. The room was very clean and comfortable, WiFi was good, we ate a snack in the bar in the evening. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Short walk to the Falls. On the 19th floor which you have to walk up from the 18th is the observation deck-well worth a look for a view of the Falls.
Average room, requested a falls view and was told we could have that.. we did not get that.. needs updating but clean room for the night.. antique vibe with cool view of the falls after just a short walk. The front desk was very helpful. Overall could use an update
