Hotel is very much in need of tlc. My room had shredded curtains that were also extremely discolored. Several small repair holes in the walls. The room definitely needed to be cleaned and the pool area needs some cleaning and repairs. On the positive side the beds were extremely comfortable and the hostess during breakfast was so friendly and helpful.

We were booked to play a local bluegrass festival. The festival promoter booked us 2 rooms for Saturday night. We booked two rooms for Friday night at the same hotel for convenience. 2 1/2 weeks before the festival, we found that we only needed one room on Friday night. I called and canceled one room for that night. When we arrived, the front desk clerk told us that we had already checked in for both this room and the rooms that the promoter booked. Apparently, someone gave our rooms to another band. The front desk clerk was apologetic and told us the manager would be there in the morning. There was another room available, so we checked into that one, using our credit card again. The room was not only dated, it had a broken coffee maker, the toilet seat was only connected on one side and it swung freely from side to side. The tub was cracked and rusty around the drain and there was mold on the fixtures. We had to set the A/C at 64 to get the room cooled down. My sister called the desk the next morning to see if she could ensure we would have the rooms the promoter had booked for that day. She was assured that we would have rooms. I went to the front desk to make sure that I was not being charged for the room I had previously booked as well as the one we actually checked into. When the manager finally showed up, I told him I would like to make sure that the charges on my credit card were correct due to the mix up. He was not only uncooperative, but was nasty, too. He barked that it was taken care of and if it wasn't, to "take it up with Mike (the promoter). When my sister, who is a pretty blond, went down to ask about the second room, he fell all over himself being nice. I have stayed here before for previous festivals and have never had such a bad experience. Needless to say, I will never stay there again.

We were attending a concert nearby and choose this hotel because the website showed a nice indoor pool, a sign out front advertised music and dancing on the weekends and the rooms looked nice. Total misrepresentation. The pool was so cloudy, algae was on the stairs and the surrounding area was old and not maintained. There was no music or dancing and the room had broken outlets, cracks in the tub, etc. Site also advertises a restaurant and bar which was not open. The one ice machine didn’t work and we had to ask multiple times for room supplies or to have it cleaned. The front desk was not manned even though site says 24/7 front desk.

We were on our way to Cooperstown and decided that we would give this place a shot. Now the look is very late 80's, but everything I saw looked taken care of. The beds were super comfortable, and the rooms were pretty quiet. The guy that runs the place was awesome. He was there at 1:00 am when we checked in and was there when we checked out at noon. The breakfast was great, and the owner gave us some suggestions for our jaunt to Cooperstown. I really liked the vibe of the spot!

Older hotel, but very clean and comfortable. Best breakfast I have had ever from a hotel breakfast bar! Photos are old and should be updated, but if you want a great deal on a clean comfortable room with owner who will do anything reasonable to make you comfortable this is the place. This is as of Oct 2, 2021.

The price matched the experience at this hotel. It's very much so dated, needs A LOT of work. NYS does not have smoking and non smoking rooms in 2021 but our room WRECKED of smoke, even after we sprayed it several times. Bathroom had no vent fan, yet we could hear our neighbors in their bathroom very clearly. The reason we felt mislead, the pictures. It seems they use VERY old pictures. If a little work was done, this place could come back. It was an otherwise ok stay.

We were on vacation with a tour group and this is the hotel that they had booked for us. As soon as we pulled in it looked run down and there was not one car in the parking lot. Upon entering the lobby it had a horrible smell. The room also had the same nasty smell. The bathtub was leaking and couldn't be shut off. The finish on the bottom of the tub was coming off. Others in our group had issues like, clumps of hair on the bed. Dirt on the floor and furniture wasn't dusted. We had mosquitos in the room, maybe the smell was pesticide. We had a meal catered for us in their dining area. When we walked in there was crumbs all over the tables, waffle machines had dried batter on them and on the table under them. Our tour leader got us out of there that night and into another hotel. There was no alarm clock or phone in our room. Runaway!!!

We stayed here because we couldn't find anything else by the time we decided to travel. We knew from years ago that it had been run-down, but heard that it had been renovated when it went independent from Quality Inns chain. The place is seedy, worn, generally unpleasant. Our room was fairly clean, if worn, but bathroom was unsat. There was a hole rusted through the bottom of the bathtub, and the toilet barely flushed. Breakfast buffet was sad: no juices at all; tablecloths on the buffet full of spilled waffle batter, old-looking fruit. Avoid if possible!

Don’t let the star rating deter you from the Newark Garden Hotel. Fantastic rates for a fantastic stay. It’s true you can feel Newark Garden’s hay-day was likely the 70’s with stucco swept walls and popcorn ceilings but the decor feels like it’s come into the throw back to itself with clean white sheets and double head showers. Our room overlooked the the orb lit atrium and pool. True the shower and toilet was of older models but well kept and very clean. We got in late (1:30am) were welcomed by the kindest front desk manager Dave, we would see Dave again at 6am before leaving for our fishing charter in Pultneyville still as chipper as as helpful he had been upon check in. When we returned from fishing we got some delicious local PIT BBQ from a pop up in the parking lot! The hotel is adjacent to the Erie Canal with beautiful walk/bike way decorated with flowers and benches to let you lazily watch the boats cruise by. Newark Garden hotel let us get to Seneca wine trail well rested and early. 10/10 Would stay again

Look for Dave! He is the chief cook and bottle washer at this destination. When we arrived I found him sweeping the outer patio. He greeted me with a smile, and checked us in early. Dave was everywhere making sure the place was running perfectly. The rooms are clean and comfy. But don't expect it to be the HILTON! This is a budget friendly hotel. I will return.
