Such a comfortable lodge. It felt so homey: with books, magazines, and newspapers available. Also many brochures on things to do in the area. Hal was so helpful in suggesting ideas that enhanced our visit. Kykuit (the Rockefeller home) and Union Church are a must, as is nearby Storm King Sculpture Park. The views over the lodge's quiet grounds were... More

Our stay in the cottage was awesome, the a/c works great and the cottage was stocked with all the household items you would ever need. The pool was fantastic and Hal and his family were gracious hosts. This was the perfect birthday weekend getaway with my wife and 3 year old son.

Set aside 1.5-3 hours if renting bikes, and a minimum of 2-3 hours if you are walking. There are many acres to explore, so realistically it is a half day excursion. We enjoyed renting bikes and we brought a picnic in a backpack for ease, but be aware that there is a fairly long wait for bikes. We arrived ~1pm,... More

We stayed in the cottage right next to the pool. A wonderful location, beautiful scenery, relaxing, and peaceful! Hal and Gay are two of the sweetest people we've met on our travels; very accommodating and lovely to chat with, both are very funny! The breakfast was amazing: the best granola ever, scrumptious french toast and crispy bacon!

We visited for the second time, last time in the main lodge house and this time at the lovely pool house with the wonderful pool. Hal our gracious host made a delicious and filling breakfast both days we were there. In addition we were entertained by his trumbone playing Our stay was a real treat and our host Hal made... More

Great location near Storm King sculpture park, and close to other Hudson Valley destinations. We loved waking up and having our breakfast on the big porch with beautiful views. Really nice grounds, which we enjoyed walking around before going for a swim. The swimming pool was a really nice bonus. Hal was a very friendly host, with lots of good... More

The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is the loose bathtub valve which made bathing a little challenging. Otherwise, we loved the cottage -- plenty of room for two couples and their small children, with easy access to the surprisingly large yet scenic pool surrounded by a stone wall embedded with hens and chicks (the plant, not the... We have visited here twice now and have enjoyed each visit. Hal is a super host who goes out of his way to provide breakfasts the way the guests like them. Great outdoor pool for summer visits, and there are two rooms in a separate house near the pool. Quiet, great wifi, you can't go wrong at this place.

Lovely setting, good breakfast and congenial atmosphere. The lodge feels like you expect a lodge to feel with dark wood, high ceiling and comfy furniture. It has something extra in a very nice large porch off the back to use for relaxing and reading and eating breakfast on if there are too many guests to all gather around the dining... More

We stayed in the Yellow room, queen size bed and very quiet, at the end of the hall. Very cozy and comfortable bed, not too soft or too hard. The common areas of the lodge were so large! Beautiful building and views. The pool was painted black to heat up faster but was startling at first. The host, Hal, was... More
