A perfect getaway for me & my recent rescue Gizmo. We were able to wander around without a leash, without a worry. Walking through wonderfully manicured trails, in wooded spaces and through gorgeous meadows, without several swimming holes to choose from in a clean & crisp creek that runs through the property. If it seems a bit on the pricey side... once you see all the amenities and the unique nature of the property, I bet you'll agree it is not overpriced. Ian and Mindy do a wonderful job maintaining and improving the place, and are attentive and lovely hosts.

This place is for friendly dogs and their people (sorry, no kids allowed) - its amazing.
I cannot express how awesome this getaway is. The joy both my dogs, my husband and i have renting one of the RVs at this getaway - the dogs as always have the best time being off leash and with other dogs and hiking the trails.
This was our 9th trip and it gets better every time. The RVs had everything we could need. Even better is the Hound Hub which is a communal space (perfectly set up for covid distancing) where we spent every night preparing our food and relaxing with the friends we made during our escape.
The Valley view for sundowners is perfect too.
The set- up of the walking trails, the attention to detail and the locations of the relaxation spots with lounge chairs and some with umbrellas, a few have water access for dogs.
This place is doggie heaven and where owners get to meet like minded people.
We'll definitely be back again.

We were looking for a Labor Day weekend getaway with 4 dogs. This place sounded perfect. The cottages and lodge could accommodate 4 dogs.
We stayed in Bark 5, the roomier cottage with an outdoor shower. The room was clean and a generally comfortable fit. The door did not lock, which we hadn't expected. The bathrooms were a short walk uphill. They were in a wood structure and were also clean. The toilets flushed, and the sinks were outside. The cooking area was covered and decently stocked. The large wood grill made great steaks. The supply room had games and dads too. Internet worked near lodging/the Hound Hub.
The grounds were well maintained with chairs, water, and waste bins provided throughout. The dogs loved being off leash and some went swimming. Trails included wooded areas and through fields. There's a suspended plank bridge to cross the creek.
Our dogs are <50lbs. They were the smallest we saw. Most interactions were friendly. Owners are expected to manage their pets. People seemed pretty good about this if dogs stopped getting along. Poop is also supposed to be picked up, but we found a few piles (luckily not with our feet!). Other than around the hub/lodging, we rarely ran into people/dogs, so much of the trip felt like a private outdoors getaway.
The staff we interacted with were nice and friendly. They responded to emails promptly. When a stall door latch broke, it was fixed the next day.
We look forward to returning in the future!

We visited Emerald Glen Getaway for the first time last week and miss it already! From the meadows, to the creek, to the woods, our pup had the time of his life!! We appreciated all the thoughtful touches like water throughout the property for humans & dogs, the many places to sit & relax as we explored, and the well-stocked amazing outdoor kitchen. What a special place that's unlike anywhere else. We'll definitely be back!

We stayed in the New Vision Rv for six nights. My pup Lucille had a blast meeting new people and dogs, sunbathing, chasing critters, sniffing flowers and running off leash in the beautiful fields and trails. This place is really a well-kept secret paradise!
Tips:
All Rvs have a full kitchen, and small toilet and shower, It got pretty chilly at night even in July so a good blanket is a must. Can be damp inside the trailer, so wet clothes may not dry.
Cabins are clean with a full kitchen, but no bathroom or shower. There is a shared toilet/shower house which is actually pretty pleasant and clean.
Cooking over the shared wood fire is an excellent experience.

My husband and I went to the camp in June with our dog, Shadow. We had been looking for a place where we could relax with our dog and could not have found a more perfect place. We went for two nights in June and had such an amazing time that we came back for 5 nights in August. All three of us were relaxed and enjoyed each others company. The facility has all you need. We stayed in a cabin with twin beds. Sleeping was very comfortable and the cabins were clean and had paper goods, a lantern and refrigerator. If you go in August bring warm pjs because the nights get cooler. There are miles of hiking trails that are easy to walk and range from easy straight walks to hilly tree lined paths. For swimming you can chose the stream which meanders through most of the property or the frog pond which is quiet and relaxing. There is a kitchen area called "The Hound Hub" which is perfect for preparing meals with ease on either the gas grills or the open fire pit and a supply shed for food storage with refrigerators and freezers. The bathrooms and showers are kept extremely clean and are a short walk from the housing. If you looking for a place to spend time with your pet than there is no place like this. We are all looking forward to going back next year.

Just returned home from Glen Highland Farm. Can't wait to go back... (currently planning a stay for next year :).
It was our first visit and we had an awesome time!!! The minute we pulled in (we drove thru the night from Naples, FL) we were greeted by a volunteer who couldn't be more enthusiastic!! One of the staff, John showed us to our RV which was clean and comfy! He was so kind! He helped us unpack our car top carrier and brought our stuff to the RV. (which we had way too much of!! ...guess this is common for newbies)
Shortly after that John (different John, the owner) took us on a tour of the property. WOW! acres and acres of the most beautiful land! Well kept and very organized...there are stations where you can get water for yourself and for your dog, chairs, hammocks, lounges to recline on, Butternut Creek, Bull Frog Pond, Garden of Resting Spirits, trails designed by some of the many Border Collie residents...the list goes on and on!! An agility field, Frisbee area, trails, trails and more trails. One of my favorite spots was up on a hill that overlooks the Rescue Barn, the RV's, the Connor House, Agility field and Magic's Meadow.
But the best part was having a chance to get to know my young BC mix. It is a doggie wonderland! He was off leash most of the time and enjoyed running, searching, digging, rolling, swimming, exploring, and playing with some of the other visitors and residents. I was hoping he would matured a little on this trip, he did !! :)
At meal time everyone gathers around the pavilion to prepare their meals. We met some really nice people that I hope we can keep in touch with and maybe plan to see again. Here the facilities are also kept clean and well stocked with all of the items you need to prepare your meal. A great place to visit with new friends and enjoy a glass of your favorite beverage while the doggies play (they provide a bucket of balls and frisbees for the dogs!). It was at the pavilion where we were joined by John and Lillie owners of GHF. They stopped in to visit and asked us how our stay was. It was great talking with them and hearing how GHF came to be this fantastic vacation place as well as one of the best Border Collie rescues in the country.
Everyday we would run into staff members who asked if we needed anything and how our day was going. Special thanks to Jos and Mary!!
Plan to take your dog(s) to this fantastic farm!! Not only are you helping to support a wonderful cause, you will also experience the most restful and enjoyable time with your four footed friend(s)! Oh and don't forget to ask to go on a tour of the rescue, it in itself is an amazing facility!!
Just writing this review has got me dreaming about my next visit! Can't wait to go!!!!!

We just finished a stay at GHF, and it was wonderful. I only wish I had found it sooner! My husband and I brought our lab and our golden. We stayed for 3 nights, but that really wasn't long enough to do everything we wanted. Next time we will go for at least 5 nights. The grounds are huge and fenced in, so the dogs can safely be off leash. There are several places where you can swim with your dog. The creek is clear and clean, and deep enough for people to swim in some places. Bring pool/ aqua shoes, because the bottom is a little rocky. You should also bring a small backpack because there are areas along the trails where you will want to relax, and bring a book or a snack. At Willow Run, our favorite swimming spot, there is even a grill and picnic table. You do not need to bring charcoal or firewood- everything you need to cook is there for you- just bring your own food. We stayed in a cabin but next time we might stay in one of the RV's. Although the bathrooms are clean and close to the cabins, I'd prefer not to have to go out in the middle of the night. Don't miss out on a stay at GHF, the pictures do not do justice to the beauty and peacefulness of this place.

I stayed at GHF last August over the Labor Day Weekend with my (then) 9 month GR puppy. We both had a fantastic time and I am looking forward to this summer as I will definitely be returning! The location is gorgeous -175 acres of rolling hills, fields of flowers, hiking trails through forests, along ponds and across creeks and streams. My puppy was in heaven, running through the fields and finding new places to jump and splash in the water. Our favourite spot was a grassy knoll next to a gentle stream with wildflowers all around and lounge chairs with umbrellas conveniently placed to enjoy the view. We also enjoyed the Agility Field with Cody zipping up and down and through the jumps, inclines and tunnels.
The dining pavilion is another highlight - a central place for campers to cook and socialize. At night the pavilion is lit up with lights and there are speakers and an iPod/Phone dock to play music. After a full day of swimming and hiking, firing up the grill and unwinding with the others while the pups frolicked on the grass was a great way to unwind. As was grilling marshmallows at the firepit and gazing up at the stars before bed.
I recommend taking the Rescue Tour and meeting the Border Collies awaiting adoption. Inspirational.
