Worst customer service ever! Do not stay here…it is expensive and you should spend your money elsewhere! We were four girls in a room and for the entire stay we were given two towels, two bottles of water, one roll of toilet paper etc. Nothing was refreshed by housekeeping and we had to call everyday and stop by the front desk daily to ask for these necessities. In addition, glasses for drinking in the room were never cleaned or replaced, so we had to clean our own glasses in the bathroom sink each day before using. At one point, we were unable to get in touch with the Operator, front desk, and house keeping for over two hours. We had to call the pizza place on site to reach a hotel employee. When we walked to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager (since the hotel does not answer phone calls), we were informed that no manager was on site that day. I left my name and phone number for one of the managers, Nat Santiago on Monday and am still awaiting a call back (five days later). In addition, I called the resort several times to share my complaints and spoke to another manager Elida, who agreed these complaints were unacceptable and escalated the complaint via email to the resort manager, Kyle. Four days later and I have yet to hear back from anyone. I have called and left voicemails on each managers line. I should have paid more attention to all of the negative reviews this place received before booking my stay! It seems that many other guests had similar issues to my group and there is a complete breakdown of management and lack of leadership and competence by the managers of this hotel.

Our 3rd year coming out to Star Island for an annual Father's Day family outing... Always enjoy being out by the water and the boats. The rooms are still nice.... Getting a little tired but still good. Had an ant infestation in both of our adjoining rooms which was quickly addressed by the friendly housekeeping staff. My biggest gripe is the hotel management's insistence that loud, pulsing music be played and heard ALL DAY LONG all around the public areas of the hotel at virtually every waking hour -- on the docks, by the pool, around the restaurant... It's all just too much and really undermines the chance to relax and just enjoy the peace of being by the water. I don't recall music being played so forcefully and incessantly during our previous visits. Our rooms were the furthest from the pool and restaurant area yet we can't escape the super-poppy music jams being spun ALL DAY LONG by the groovy DJ that they hired to keep up that groovy party atmosphere. Maybe I need to read up on hotel psychology and the need for music to be played CONSTANTLY in order to feel like they a part of something SPECIAL...? It's truly horrible and feels like a barrage and an assault on the senses. Really wish they would re-think doing that, or, at the very least, lower the VOLUME!!!!! Just couldn't enjoy ourselves and relax. Not the place for us anymore.

I visited for a company retreat and was extremely impressed. The location was beautiful. The conference rooms were perfect for our agenda offering opportunities for both inside and outside group sessions. The staff were quick to help. The rooms were nice and had large space for working or relaxing. Food provided was delicious, Our team stayed three nights and enjoyed the restaurant for dinner on the last night.

Excellent destination for a short getaway from NYC! The hotel staff were all friendly and attentive to your needs. Plenty of local sites to discover nearby the hotel. A restaurant in the premise offer excellent choice of menus for diners.

1st day, found pool closed at 4pm. Called gurneys to find out why, and was left on hold. 2nd day key didn't work, called again, spoke to abbey... hung up. We enjoyed pool, and breakfast, but evening was totally understaffed for the amount of people that are staying.. Not to mention the ants in the bathroom....... for the amount of money, we expected different.

Booked a last minute trip to Gurneys Star Island through Hotel Tonight…I’m glad it was a “good” deal (relative to Montauk) because the hotel stay was not good. Not worth it. First off we ended up in the villas - room 460 to be specific. DO NOT STAY IN THE VILLAS. From the outside they look like an abandoned campground. The room was spacious but that’s about it. Room had a very distinct musty scent and the floors would get wet in the late morning. Broken floor tiles in the bathroom. The rooms are so far away from the property. The walk to the property is dark and not well marked at all. And there is no balcony which was a huge reason we booked here - with a young baby in tow our options at night were limited - we hoped we could at least hang on a balcony but nope. I’m genuinely shocked that Gurneys includes these villas under their umbrella - it knocked the Gurneys name and prestige down several notches for me. Second the service is just not good - again, surprised with the Gurneys franchise on this one. I have stayed at cheaper hotels in Montauk and gotten better service. The best way to describe the staff was indifferent, maybe unempathetic. No offer to help with baggage. Was told no outdoor breakfast service despite it being sunny out - 5 minutes later there are 4 tables sitting outside for breakfast. When trying to carry a pizza and two drinks to the pool I asked if I could get a hand and was told nope, lol. Things just generally felt unkept - the bar was left a mess at night and was covered by hundreds of hornets in the morning. All weird bc we stayed here two years ago and the experience was much different. In 2019 we were offered blankets at night, dinner at Showfish was great, etc - maybe they’re having trouble with staffing, don’t know. Take your money elsewhere / I’ll stick with the warmer, more budget friendly Montauk hotels for my future stays.

Sadly lacking in hospitality, particularly in light of rooms 245 and 247 being infested with ants. Beware that the remedy may be only vacuuming and some ant spray, but do not expect an apology or offer to accommodate in any other way. Front desk staff are poorly equipped to handle challenges, they lack empathy, and they are not empowered to escalate to supervisors when needed. Not a pleasant destination and would not recommend. In addition, mask policies were not followed by employees (they state that all staff are required to be masked indoors, yet this is not enforced and few follow this protocol).

Stayed 2 nights with my wife , daughter and 4 of her friends for my daughters 16th birthday - the rooms are ok but the location is outstanding - the Gurneys on the beach is better view but there’s a big price diff. We had a great time and the food was outstanding - if your staying in Montauk Gurneys does it right but you pay for it .

My husband I spent 2 nights here for our baby moon. We stayed in a Villa King. Long story short, this will be our last time staying at Star Island. $800 per night for a mediocre, outdated room with several amenities unusable is just a rip off. We understand that some amenities are out of order, etc but they need to price the rooms accordingly. You cannot charge luxury 5 star prices and deliver a 2-3 star experience. That is bad business. Staff- great (no complaints- they’re trying their best) Fire pit- out of order Villa pool - out of order Main pool bar- unenjoyable due to swarms of hornets (not friendly little bees) Bar Drinks- nothing looked clean or labeled so we did not order mixed drinks (gross) Main pool- way overcrowded during Covid times Towels- self serve from a plastic garbage bag (luxury?) Beach- lackluster Villa room 459- everything was wet and misty upon check in, bathroom shower head needs to be replaced, Cockroach in the bathroom. We are happy to bring our money elsewhere next time for an experience that is actually worth what we paid. Shame on Gurneys for taking advantage of its patrons with this pricing.

My wife, along with our six year old son and baby daughter just stayed at this gorgeous lakeside hotel for four days and nights. Our friends had went last summer and convinced us to partake this time around. We booked in January and by the time the calendar turned to July, we were anxious to get there. We loved the fact that there were two outside pools, one conveniently located next to the bar and food options. They had a small indoor one but we never went, weather just too gorgeous. We had our room on the second floor on the beach side (small beach offers free kayaks, SUP, etc) which also worked out great for the kids and the am sunny views along with passing boats. The beds were on the smaller side and it was hard to get that AC just right, but those may be the only two blips on the Gurneys Radar. The cafe opened at 7am everyday, so we purchased our coffees, oatmeal’s, bacon strips and fruit salads etc. It was expensive like everything in MTK, but worth the short walk and quality. We tried the brick oven pizzas. My wife, Italian to the bone, raves about the truffle one, I agreed and got the magherita for myself along with a great Caesar salad. Our last night we went to Showfish and I had the lobster tagliatelle along with another friend. My wife had the seared scallops, and her best friend had the steak rib eye. We loved our cocktails, watermelon salad was very unique and the dessert and after cordials all for real. To sit there on the deck of the marina with those views only enhances the dinner. We loved that everything the hotel had to offer was short walk inside the hotel or outside along the walkways. They offered a kids club but our son was with friends so he declined. But that is a great option for parents looking for 3 hours of quiet time. We were also unaware it was pet friendly but have to admit after first learning about it, it was never a problem. So we will definitely be back. We would probably get a ground floor room because of stroller etc. Pools are heated Cocktails amazing Boats and marina gorgeous People and staff all nice (not overly attentive, but we understand current issues with manning, etc) Food never disappoints Quick ride to town Great bar and poolside music Lots of laughs, smiles, amazing views and hopefully sun too.
