Solé East Resort, about a 5-minute walk from Montauk's village and the beach, is pretty darn sweet. It's a hip little place, renovated with our own style and hands, with a ton of great vibes and atmosphere. Expect sprinklings of luxury in the areas that matter: Simmons pillow-top mattresses and 300 thread count Italian linens, flat screen TVs and iPod docks. And be sure to ask the friendly staff anything to make your stay spectacular.

This was our second stay at Solé East, and we were pleased with the quality of the room and grounds overall. The price is great for Montauk in the summer season, compared to other hotels in the area. NOTE: The pool gets very scene-y on Saturdays and they hire a DJ who pumps loud music throughout the grounds. If you're looking for a relaxing, reading vibe I would not recommend.

While our stay was fine, the concierge and hotel employees were quite rude and unhelpful at the least. They seem miserable to work there and do not provide the hospitality you would expect.

TIPS: If you're staying at the East location (on Fort Pond), you can park at the Beach location lot for free as a guest of the hotel. This was great, as beach parking is tricky or you have to pay $35 daily rate near the IGA. The hotel also provides beach/pool towels if you ask at the front desk.

We were at the hotel for a wedding and stayed for two nights. The hotel was clean, the grounds were very well kept, and I loved the surf themed photographs and artwork. However, that had to be the smallest room i have ever stayed in in my life. There were no closets, no dressers, no room to store anything. If we were lucky there was about 3 feet on each side of our king bed, and maybe two feet in front of it. I guess this is what hotels are like out east, but especially for the prices during high season we will not be staying here again.

Sole East is a fantastic boutique hotel - the rooms are "less is more" chic, the pool is chill, the restaurant is pretty fantastic and the grounds are well kept with fun little treasures scattered throughout (like a rattan swing hanging in a tree, etc).
That said, it's not on the beach which is the main draw to Montauk so we stay at Sole East when we go out to MTK for weddings or couple weekends.
I would not bring kids here though.

We loved Sole East! We were there over Memorial Day weekend 2020 with my dog during the COVID special situation. We loved that the hotel required masks, we loved that our room had sanitizers and that everything was very clean and disinfected. We had an amazing time despite the bad weather and already booked a full week in July. Thank you to the lovely staff - especially Thomas - who made us feel welcome and safe!

Our trip was amazing! My roommate and I were stuck in an apartment in NYC for two months during the pandemic. The day Governor. Cuomo announced beaches would be open on Memorial Day Weekend we knew we wanted to go to Montauk, but we were nervous that the hotels would not be taking the necessary precautions, leaving us unable to relax.

This resort is on top of their game. All staff wore masks and gloves, and there were plenty of hand washing stations.

Once in the backyard we were amazed at how beautiful the garden is. There are adult swings, hammocks and plenty of tables and chairs. The restaurant was limited to takeaway food and cocktails, and made some DELICIOUS sandwiches.

Balancing pleasure and safety while vacationing in a post-COVID world is very tricky, and Sole East Resort passed the test with flying colors.

When we arrived in Montauk, the pool was under construction for 2 days. A jackhammer was the music of choice, we received no discount for the rate we paid from the hotel and they were a less than friendly staff. Additionally, I reviewed prices the following 2 weekends after staying and booking through this site and found room rates for $150 less at this specific location. It may have been based on occupancy and I run my own rental properties so I completely understand the need to raise rates based on availability and dependent on season / weekend etc. Our friends had a great experience booking this place last year but they told me this year it was not remotely the same experience in terms of our stay. They had zero water to provide or even sell customers staying at the hotel and it just seemed like there was a bare minimum effort going on. For a place charging $700 a night, you'd think they could come up with a few Dasani's for the guests.

Pool is a nice setup and I was told they have a DJ but I think the jackhammer spoiled that, they have bags in the back in a courtyard area which is a good time and they had a solid bartender who kept us entertained. Room's are solid. First room's AC didn't work but they made swift accommodations to fix that.

I recently stayed at the Sole East Resort June 11-13 and decided to upgrade to the garden suite once I saw it became available. You would think upgrading the room would have its perks but not in this case. We were given the last room on the left and there was a huge gap underneath the door (pictured) which I assume would be the reason the room was infested with bugs. There was an ant colony literally right outside the door with them moving in and out of the wall to the room. I’m not sure if all the suites have the same problem but there were easily at least a hundred earwigs, ants and spiders etc. killed during my two days there. It was absolutely disgusting they were all over the walls, floors, bathroom shower and even had them crawling on the bed while sleeping!! I’m sorry but how is anyone supposed to sleep when there are earwigs crawling on you and bugs every single place you look. I’m truly not one to complain ever and I don’t even mind bugs but this was such an overwhelming amount and totally unacceptable. I have been coming out to Montauk multiple times a year for 20+ years now and have neverrr experienced this. I know what to expect when I book hotels in Montauk, even for top dollar things aren’t so great but for my first time staying at the Sole East resort I was really not impressed. When checking out I was asked how my stay was and I said it was fine but that there were really a lottt of bugs in that room and that I wasn’t sure if it was a common thing people mentioned but that there were really a lot. The gentleman at the desk seemed alarmed like it wasn’t something he’s heard before but that he would tell the owner and I would hear back later that day. Given that it was a Sunday I figured if I didn’t hear back yet, I’d probably hear from him during the week but that has yet to happen. I contacted Sole East through their website as well about the situation and have still heard nothing. If this is how they follow up with their customers then their customer service is a reason alone to not stay again. I love supporting Montauk and trying all places and hope if I ever have to stay again this would not be the same experience but as of right now I’d choose otherwise… when paying over $1200 to sleep with bugs crawling on you, you’re better off camping for free at that point.

We had such s difficult time making reservations for a wedding at this venue. I had to make 7 calls to make my reservation because they would not answer their phones or kept putting me on hold or simply hung up. Once I got through and made the reservation, I had to call back twice more to demand a confirmation. The confirmation finally came and I was so fatigued from the process that I did not read the details that they booked me for three nights instead of the two I requested. Upon arriving, they would not adjust the reservation and said they would bill me for the full 3 days for a two day wedding event. The mother of the bride intervened and tipped the manager, Martin, $100 and asked that he not harass her guests but was still unsuccessful in getting through to him. I have disputed the amount with Amex. There were none of the usual amenities we enjoy at other hotels and it took me 20 minutes to get 2 coffees at the bar. I guess they don't trust guests to pump their own coffee or they just wanted to gouge us for $4/cup of horribly weak coffee. We will never be back.

This is the prettiest property tucked in the heart of Montauk. The grounds are so beautifully kept and the rooms are so cool and chic.

the pool is the center of attention with sun beds spread all around where you can do some work and catch some rays all at the same time. At night there is the amazing fire pit and hammock in the back yard

This beautiful contemporary boutique hotel also has the best restaurant in Montauk called The Backyard and this last summer was made so safe... since the covid lockdown they have practiced really strict adherence to safety rules and their property allowed them to space people so well inn that gorgeous property full of beautiful torches with great lighting and scenery.

my summer is always made so special here. cant wait for next summer!

I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and not only was the "resort" NOT a resort, it was overpriced and the walls and ceilings were so thin, I could hear a pin drop outside my room! It was not peaceful or relaxing at all, it felt like I was attempting to rest at a subway station, but within an enclosed box. The heat in the room wasn't working and it was cold that weekend. The front desk staff brought me a space heater and blankets, but to go through that - I might as well have stayed home! I give 2 stars because the staff was nice and the room was clean and neat, but this was nothing but an overpriced hotel. There was no additional accommodation besides a pool - that every hotel has - that would suggest anything more than a overrated bed and breakfast. My stay was only 2 days and with all the noise and lack of proper accommodation, I couldn't wait to go home.
