A note from Sole East Resort

#18 of 39 hotels in Montauk
Solé East Resort, about a 5-minute walk from Montauk's village and the beach, is pretty darn sweet. It's a hip little place, renovated with our own style and hands, with a ton of great vibes and atmosphere. Expect sprinklings of luxury in the areas that matter: Simmons pillow-top mattresses and 300 thread count Italian linens, flat screen TVs and iPod docks. And be sure to ask the friendly staff anything to make your stay spectacular.

We had such s difficult time making reservations for a wedding at this venue. I had to make 7 calls to make my reservation because they would not answer their phones or kept putting me on hold or simply hung up. Once I got through and made the reservation, I had to call back twice more to demand a confirmation. The confirmation finally came and I was so fatigued from the process that I did not read the details that they booked me for three nights instead of the two I requested. Upon arriving, they would not adjust the reservation and said they would bill me for the full 3 days for a two day wedding event. The mother of the bride intervened and tipped the manager, Martin, $100 and asked that he not harass her guests but was still unsuccessful in getting through to him. I have disputed the amount with Amex. There were none of the usual amenities we enjoy at other hotels and it took me 20 minutes to get 2 coffees at the bar. I guess they don't trust guests to pump their own coffee or they just wanted to gouge us for $4/cup of horribly weak coffee. We will never be back.

Room Tip: Move on to another hotel. This place is the antithesis of hospitality.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! DO NOT STAY HERE! SO RUDE! My girlfriend and I booked a room in Montauk during Hurricane Henri. The hotel had several open rooms because of the weather. The room was a a present for me and my girlfriend who take care of my mother. We checked in but had to race home before the room was ready due to an emergency with my mother. This is something I've been dealing with for most of my adult life and it's a terrible reality. We apologized profusely and asked for credits to be put towards the next two nights or any night with a free room. We also offered all medical documentation of what had happened. When we initially called, the hotel employee at the beach property couldn't have been nicer about it. Then the corporate email refused to give us any help on the $500 spent for a room never used that wasn't even ready. They mocked me and accused me of lying (picture below). In 5 days of trying and after leaving countless messages, not one single person called me back to discuss over phone. Losing $500 dollars and throwing that away during covid is horrific. We even drove all the way to Montauk the next day and they wouldn't even allow us to pay for another night or hear us out. It was so bizarre and hurtful to be treated so terribly by a hospitality business. I begged and said how much that money meant to us but all they cared about was making the money and having us go away. The experience made me physically sick - but actually because I am sick right now and it's been all I can think about.

This was our second stay at Solé East, and we were pleased with the quality of the room and grounds overall. The price is great for Montauk in the summer season, compared to other hotels in the area. NOTE: The pool gets very scene-y on Saturdays and they hire a DJ who pumps loud music throughout the grounds. If you're looking for a relaxing, reading vibe I would not recommend. While our stay was fine, the concierge and hotel employees were quite rude and unhelpful at the least. They seem miserable to work there and do not provide the hospitality you would expect. TIPS: If you're staying at the East location (on Fort Pond), you can park at the Beach location lot for free as a guest of the hotel. This was great, as beach parking is tricky or you have to pay $35 daily rate near the IGA. The hotel also provides beach/pool towels if you ask at the front desk.

This is NOT a resort.. it is at best a fancy motel Rooms are small and simple there is a small pool And the grounds ate reasonably clean.. the ONLY reason to stay here is if you uave a dog as they are pet friendly Cost of this place is very high for what you get and they also charge a LOT for that pet... without pet? Stay elsewhere
