Solé East Resort, about a 5-minute walk from Montauk's village and the beach, is pretty darn sweet. It's a hip little place, renovated with our own style and hands, with a ton of great vibes and atmosphere. Expect sprinklings of luxury in the areas that matter: Simmons pillow-top mattresses and 300 thread count Italian linens, flat screen TVs and iPod docks. And be sure to ask the friendly staff anything to make your stay spectacular.

I recently stayed at this lovely hotel with my children and our family doggie . There was a mishap with our reservation upon check in which I booked online thru a third party booking site nothing to do with the hotel . Thomas at the reservation desk was not only AMAZING but resolved the issue stress free while I was able to get everyone settled peacefully and enjoy the pool with my children . Thank you Thomas for making our stay that much more relaxed ! We will definitely be back ! Dominique & Family

My friends and I stayed at sole east for the July 4th weekend, which was incredible! The food, the staff, and the grounds were so enjoyable, and the hotel's vibe is super welcoming, relaxed, and fun! Thomas at the front desk is excellent, and he made our stay so perfect and one of the best weekends yet! Sole East is the ideal spot whether you are with friends or family. The pool and luxe loungers are great, and the bartenders make super tasty drinks!! We will be returning very soon and cannot wait to stay here again and know that we will have a great hotel, with great people and great staff to provide a fantastic experience!! Highly recommend such a great hotel and people.

Worst experience ever. I was not able to check in as they told me I had to pay a $300 pet fee. They then would not refund my prepaid hotel and told Expedia that I complained about the distance from the hotel room the beach (which is no where near here). Thomas a kid that worked there chased me to the street after not letting me check in saying I will be “fined by governor” and that “my credit card better be valid” - terrible horrid experience for a crappy motel looking day camp.

Beware when booking here - there are no cancelations or changes even if you get covid and can't travel. I just threw away $2,000 and nobody is helpful or at all interested in trying to do the right thing. I am open to just changing the dates and they are refusing. Very disappointing.

Rooms were NOISY inside & out. Road traffic noise was quite audible & woke me up several times in the night. Bathroom fan was excessively noisy! We alerted the reception & they said they would “take care of it”. They did NOT fix the noisy fan! No phone in the room, but if you use your cell phone to call the hotel, you get their Answering Service - not a hotel staff!!!☹️ No coffee maker either. Go stay at the Montauk Blue Hotel on the beach 💕

My boyfriend and I were very excited to stay here after having eaten in the backyard several times. We booked a room for two nights. Unfortunately, the very next morning, I found out that my grandmother was entering hospice care and we had to travel to see her and would not be able to stay at Sole East. We immediately called the resort and spoke to someone at the front desk, who said they would be happy to refund us, but since it was booked through hotel tonight, we needed to have hotel tonight reach out to them. We called hotel tonight, who agreed to refund us subject to the hotel's discretion, and tried to reach the hotel for THREE DAYS. I kept calling the hotel, who gave me the run around, and Hotel Tonight had no luck. Finally, we reached the reservations manager, Laurie, who repeatedly told us we booked a non-refundable reservation, she didn't have the authority to issue a refund, and that the person who DOES have the authority is hanging out in Italy and doesn't speak to customers. She also told us that their policy is basically to issue refunds under no circumstances without any regard to hardship circumstances. Yes, we booked a non-refundable reservation. However, MANY hotels (with half decent customer service) will accommodate travelers and at the VERY LEAST offer a credit. This hotel DOES NOT CARE AT ALL about its customers or any basic human decency. Despite the fact that someone at the resort SAID THEY WOULD APPROVE THE REFUND, the reservations manager, Laurie, said too bad and they didn't have authority. Basically, we ended our call with Laurie saying that she would email her boss and couldn't tell us when or if he'd respond. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Stay somewhere else like Montauk Manor or Gurneys or Hero Beach Club- who actually care about their guests returning and are accommodating.

We had such s difficult time making reservations for a wedding at this venue. I had to make 7 calls to make my reservation because they would not answer their phones or kept putting me on hold or simply hung up. Once I got through and made the reservation, I had to call back twice more to demand a confirmation. The confirmation finally came and I was so fatigued from the process that I did not read the details that they booked me for three nights instead of the two I requested. Upon arriving, they would not adjust the reservation and said they would bill me for the full 3 days for a two day wedding event. The mother of the bride intervened and tipped the manager, Martin, $100 and asked that he not harass her guests but was still unsuccessful in getting through to him. I have disputed the amount with Amex. There were none of the usual amenities we enjoy at other hotels and it took me 20 minutes to get 2 coffees at the bar. I guess they don't trust guests to pump their own coffee or they just wanted to gouge us for $4/cup of horribly weak coffee. We will never be back.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! DO NOT STAY HERE! SO RUDE! My girlfriend and I booked a room in Montauk during Hurricane Henri. The hotel had several open rooms because of the weather. The room was a a present for me and my girlfriend who take care of my mother. We checked in but had to race home before the room was ready due to an emergency with my mother. This is something I've been dealing with for most of my adult life and it's a terrible reality. We apologized profusely and asked for credits to be put towards the next two nights or any night with a free room. We also offered all medical documentation of what had happened. When we initially called, the hotel employee at the beach property couldn't have been nicer about it. Then the corporate email refused to give us any help on the $500 spent for a room never used that wasn't even ready. They mocked me and accused me of lying (picture below). In 5 days of trying and after leaving countless messages, not one single person called me back to discuss over phone. Losing $500 dollars and throwing that away during covid is horrific. We even drove all the way to Montauk the next day and they wouldn't even allow us to pay for another night or hear us out. It was so bizarre and hurtful to be treated so terribly by a hospitality business. I begged and said how much that money meant to us but all they cared about was making the money and having us go away. The experience made me physically sick - but actually because I am sick right now and it's been all I can think about.

This was our second stay at Solé East, and we were pleased with the quality of the room and grounds overall. The price is great for Montauk in the summer season, compared to other hotels in the area. NOTE: The pool gets very scene-y on Saturdays and they hire a DJ who pumps loud music throughout the grounds. If you're looking for a relaxing, reading vibe I would not recommend. While our stay was fine, the concierge and hotel employees were quite rude and unhelpful at the least. They seem miserable to work there and do not provide the hospitality you would expect. TIPS: If you're staying at the East location (on Fort Pond), you can park at the Beach location lot for free as a guest of the hotel. This was great, as beach parking is tricky or you have to pay $35 daily rate near the IGA. The hotel also provides beach/pool towels if you ask at the front desk.
