Solé East Resort, about a 5-minute walk from Montauk's village and the beach, is pretty darn sweet. It's a hip little place, renovated with our own style and hands, with a ton of great vibes and atmosphere. Expect sprinklings of luxury in the areas that matter: Simmons pillow-top mattresses and 300 thread count Italian linens, flat screen TVs and iPod docks. And be sure to ask the friendly staff anything to make your stay spectacular.

We were there in mid-October and wanted to be near the beach and this location had heat, which seemed like a good idea. However, it was 65 and sunny when we arrived and the room was broiling hot. The main window was locked shut with a clamp (I guess for the winter) but luckily we were on an end unit and opened the smaller window. It was nice to hear the ocean at night. But if you are there on a warm day in October and not in an end unit you might be sealed in and reliant on an AC unit. Other problem--the toilet handle was broken but if we took off the tank top and pulled the chain manually it worked. We called fron desk at main property and left a message but never got a response. We were only there one night so decided to live with it. The beds are low to the ground. Otherwise the room was fine and clean. Front desk guy at main property was good. This is a basic motel with easy access to beach, and you can see ocean from front "porch". But it's more motel-style than hotel (note--main property is more hotel)

The rooms were clean and spacious. The reason for 1-star was the restaurant. Service was horrendous. We show up to the restaurant around 8 to have a drink and dessert outside. The first server pretty much dismisses us and says that there are no tables. We ask a second server if we could put our name down, she says yes but not until 9:15pm. Ok. We show up at 9:15pm, still no table outside for us and we are seated inside because we do not want to wait longer. The table was dirty and no one came to take our order. We’re upset. We decide to go back outside and no one assists us so we decide to leave both disappointed and frustrated from the lack of attention of the staff. As we’re leaving, a waiter runs after us saying there is a table, but at this point we’re not in the mood. The evening was ruined by rude staff and poor service. That’s not what we should be experiencing during a vacation. The next morning, I go down to the restaurant, the staff there is impolite and again, service is so poor. And a simple coffee is $7. Don’t go to this restaurant.

This hotel stole my money by MORE than double charging my credit card for over $700. After calling an extraordinary amount of times, they bounced me back and forth for weeks between the hotel and the restaurant. Both claimed that it is the other entities problem. They provided me with 2 receipts that have identical charges, both unsigned. No one is willing to help or claim responsibility. The management at this hotel have no respect their patrons. No calls back, ever. I had to track them down and most times they wouldn’t take my call. I had to resort to disputing with my credit card. I would not be surprised if they attempted to validate their charges to dispute my claim. Disgusted is an understatement.

First of all.... you should not think you are going to stay at a five star hotel in Montauk. This place was great! Just a few minutes from the beach and main part of town, the rooms are small but very clean and comfy. The backyard has a very nice pool areas with attentive service and lots of different places to work or lounge from early in the morning until late at night. I appreciated their friendliness as a solo traveler. I even got to enjoy some time swinging in a hammock. I highly recommend if you are looking for a good and decently priced place I think Montauk

We loved Sole East! We were there over Memorial Day weekend 2020 with my dog during the COVID special situation. We loved that the hotel required masks, we loved that our room had sanitizers and that everything was very clean and disinfected. We had an amazing time despite the bad weather and already booked a full week in July. Thank you to the lovely staff - especially Thomas - who made us feel welcome and safe!
