Heated pool was still open. Hotel was very clean. Staff was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend. All health protocols were followed. Chaise lounges six feet apart. Limit for how many can be in the pool at one time. Was not a problem.
Friends and I came for our annual journey to Montauk to catch up, take a breath and be by the ocean. Would add it was needed particularly now more than ever given the challenging times we are all in. The customer service from point of reservation with the professional agent to our check out was excellent. The location on the Atlantic Ocean was unbeatable and walking distance into town just right. We have stayed at a number of locations over the last 20 years and would return again. Rooms were clean and had all the amenities needed.
Our stay at the Ocean Surf Resort was just what we wanted. Room was clean and cozy, staff were friendly and always working. The heated pool was a bonus. The view from our balcony was priceless. The whole property was well maintained and clean.
We were COVID weary and in much need of a break. We booked our room at Ocean Surf Resort at the last minute. Most other places were booked, as the weekend was promising summer weather in October. The weather did turn out to be gorgeous, and we enjoyed, but not because of the accomodations. The cancellation fees are very transparent, but wow, it sends a message up front about strictness. We arrived to a beautiful deck as close to the beach as you will ever get for the price. That said, the amenities are just not up to the prices being charged. Our room was a "gold room with ocean view." You are paying for the view only. The room had 2 beds. 1 bed had actual holes in the mattress, like someone or something had chewed large holes. The other mattress was so hard it was like there was a 6 inch thick board underneath some light cushioning. I chose the hard bed. I woke every morning with sore shoulder and joints. The patio had a badly rusting lounge chair - the aesthetics were not pleasing, and there were an additional 2 cheap plastic patio chairs to sit in. I can get these at Walmart at the end of the season for $5. The bathroom and the kitchenette are quite dated, and in sore need of an uplift. The towels are threadbare and scratchy. The showerhead looks like it was installed in 1975, and I initially thought it did not work, as only a trickle of water came out, My husband found a button that turned water on, but the shower was not a true shower experience. It was more like showring under a hose let loose. We would stay again if we could not find another place, but paying close to $1,000 for 2 nights in a old motel just does not sit right. I will focus on the view, and the fact that we had a wonderful session of whale watching Saturday evening.…
It's post-Labor Day, the throngs have disappeared and I had to leave all white clothes at home. So...here's the thing. First - and I'm sure every accommodation in the area has it - the cancellation policy is nuts. I won't detail it, but - as 'Vinnie' will say- check the website. Second - we had a 2nd floor room w/ balcony facing the ocean & the view was crazy fantastic. In all my years of traveling, I've never had a room with a view like this. I mean you're footsteps away from the ocean. It really is awesome. I could say that's where it begins & ends, but - hey - you're paying for the view. Not luxury lounge chairs on the terrace (dirty k-mart plastic chairs), not some high tech kitchen area (forget it..eat out) & no designed bathroom (just the basics.) I'm sure it's no secret: it's not a resort..it's a motel on the beach. (Great location ..walk to a lot.) But the owners & staff were very pleasant (I read a review about the owners going postal on a guest, but during those crazy, alcohol-based days of summer I'm guessing that was only one side of the story.) The pool is nice & there's lounge chairs in the area & facing the beach. Just a few tips: bring an extension cord if you want to charge your laptop (wi-fi service was free & very good) while using it on the terrace. Iron your clothes before you leave home; although the office will provide an iron & a mini board upon request, there's really no space for negotiating the set up in your room. The room has a fridge, so bring wine! I think - but not 100% sure accessibility for the disabled is no bueno: it's all climbing. We spend about $27 5 per night, but - again - after Labor Day. I highly recommend it.…
