HIghland Suite was super clean. Very spacious. Huge king size bed. The room has everything that you need. Fridge was stock with fresh breakfast goodies. It was our anniversary weekend and we wanted to get away from the sounds of the city life and this place did just that. Extremely peaceful and quiet all you hear is wildlife and the sound of the breeze through the surrounding trees.
We wanted to visit New Paltz to tour the historic hugeunot homes. But trying to find a B&B (which is what we prefer) in New Paltz was extremely expensive. We found Brookfield thanks to the Internet and were so glad we did. It is a short and scenic drive to New Paltz and there are plenty of restuarants nearby. Caroline and Mike were very gracious, especially helping us with our bags since my husband has a heart condition. We had the place to our selves at this off time of year and it was such a peaceful setting. The home was immaculate and the room spacious and comfortable. The grounds are lovely and I particularly enjoyed the walking trail early in the morning. The highland cows are an added bonus as were the deer and turkey we saw. Thank you for making our stay memorable!
I wanted a quick getaway from the city that wasn’t going to break the bank. Many of the places I looked at were insanely expensive at this time of year, and Brookfield was reasonably priced with great reviews, which made me a little nervous! However, this was a gem of a place and perfect for the price point. Our room with a balcony was a perfect place for my husband and I to spread out and enjoy the fresh air. Our room was cozy and charming and clean- the bed was so comfortable that it was hard to return to mine afterwards! Breakfast was delicious- yogurt, cereal and milk in the fridge, with fresh baked goods and fruit delivered in the morning. We absolutely loved having use of the pool on Sunday morning before we hit the road back to the city. It was a quick drive into town and we found delicious places to eat and explore. My husband found a motorcycle museum nearby and was in heaven. We also loved the cows on the property! Overall, a terrific value. Caroline and Mike were wonderful hosts!…
My husband and I recently stayed at Brookfield Farm in their Highlander Suite for a night to celebrate my birthday and to explore the area. The suite was immaculate, nicely decorated and had a very comfortable bed. It has a very private deck off the bedroom which was a perfect place to relax with a glass of wine and take in the beauty of all the wildlife that surrounds the farm. Caroline was very pleasant and accommodating and the picnic basket breakfast waiting by our door the next morning was delicious and added a touch of charm to our whole farm and B&B experience. We definitely plan to stay there again in the near future. Thanks again Caroline for making our stay with you and all your farm animals very memorable!
My teenage daughter and I stayed at Brookfield Farm over a weekend in October during a visit to SUNY New Paltz. We had never visited the area before and after reading reviews and price points for some of the hotels along I87, I opted to take a chance with a B&B. The accommodations were perfect. Brookfield Farm was just a few miles from New Paltz, easy to find, and a great place to rest after a long day. We had plenty of space to spread out and privacy. We especially enjoyed the yummy breakfast offered and treats in the mini-fridge. Caroline was welcoming but discreet. We felt quite at home during our stay.
My husband and I just returned from a fantastic 5-night stay at this lovely B&B & all we can say is, "WOW!" We are so thrilled to have found this little gem!!! We were traveling to the Hudson River area as first-time "leaf peepers", to enjoy our 5-year wedding anniversary. We also planned to visit family in Hudson Heights, but knew nothing about the environs. We happened upon Brookfield Farm by sheer luck, after searching for hours on TripAdvisor & B&B websites & are SO HAPPY that we did! The farm's grounds are beautiful & tranquil with an abundance of wildlife & native flora/fauna. We enjoyed our walks to the lake, seeing an abundance of cotton tail rabbits, various birds, the sweet Highland cows/bull, & chickens. Photos do not do it justice. Did I mention that it is quiet? It is so peaceful here. Honestly, all we could hear were the leaves blowing in the wind & rain falling. On clear days, we had beautiful views of the meadows & gorgeous sunsets. Can you say, "Ahhh"? We certainly did! We stayed in the Highlander Suite, which is separate from the main house & above the barn. This was perfect for us, since we knew we would be watching the 2017 World Series & cheering on our Astros late each night!:-) We definitely echo other reviewers' comments that the suite was immaculate. We did not tour the suites in the main home, but are certain they are equally as wonderful. Breakfast each morning was plentiful with scrumptious homemade pastries & fresh fruit. We loved being able to dine "al fresco" on the deck just off of the bedroom. Juice, coffee, tea, milk, & other essential items were also provided. We felt completely spoiled. Caroline & Michael were such gracious hosts. They were more than happy to provide us with maps & suggestions on locations for day trips & give us some history about the area. Honestly, if we could have talked them into letting us stay & earn our keep, we would have placed our house on the market & had someone ship our dogs to us! We could go on and on about what a wonderful a time we had. We definitely plan to visit Brookfield Farm again & hope you will enjoy it as much as we did! Thank you, again, Caroline & Michael, for making our anniversary trip one that we will always remember!!!…
We took a trip upstate to stay at Brookfield Farm as part of a longer trip to visit family Manhattan. And we were so happy we chose to stay here! Caroline and Michael were so welcoming and kind, and our room (the Meadow Suite) was superb. Really comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped with coffee for lovely lazy morning breakfasts. Speaking of breakfast, the daily breakfast basket was one of the highlights for me - delicious baked goods and fresh fruit, just what you need to fuel a day of exploring the nearby state parks! Outside the room we loved paying a daily visit to their mighty handsome Highland cows, watching the different birds visiting the feeders, and walking down to the nearby stream. On our last night we were even lucky enough to see a wild beaver! Brookfield is perfectly located for exploring nearby state parks, including Lake Minnewaska, or if you prefer historic buildings, artisan coffee, and antique shops the quirky student town of New Paltz is a 20 minute drive away. We got the train from Manhatten to Poughkeepsie and hired a car from there, which worked perfectly. If you are visiting New York so yourself a favour and ditch the city for a few days to explore the wide open spaces upstate.…
Holy cow!!!I', I'm almost hesitant to review here. What if I cant go back because so many people see this and decide to go leaving no room for me!!!! This is peace. We felt it as went got there. Quiet. You can hear yourself breath. We are coming again.
We chose Brookfield Farm B&B because the place we usually stay when we're in the New Paltz area was booked. Unlike so many B&Bs the room was quite spacious and really a suite with a separate living room and small nook with fridge and microwave which made us less dependent on going out to eat. We were in the area for a Farm Sanctuary benefit. I hadn't told Caroline and Mike we were vegans until we arrived. Caroline, without me asking, made delicious vegan biscuits for our breakfast basket the following morning. They are wonderful and warm people. We will stay at Brookfield from now on when we're in the area.
What a wonderful experience we had a Brookfield Farm Bed & Breakfast. We couldn't be happier. Caroline and Michael Murphy were the nicest couple and couldn't have been more accommodating. Our room was on the second floor, and even though I have bad knees, the climb was worth it. We had a beautiful view of the whole place. Exquisite! We wanted to sight-see the Hudson Valley but alas, too darn hot, so we decided on visiting many Breweries. What a great choice that was. If you're looking for a quaint little getaway then Brookfield Farm is the place to go. You can't go wrong.
