We came here for a mini moon after our wedding. Just what we needed. Only 1.5 hrs from the city, quiet and relaxing.
Check in/ out was smooth. Breakfast was delicious and there was always abundant food. Spa & deep tissue massage was excellent (very reasonable too!). Started on time, and my masseuse Adrienne was awesome. We stayed in the Riverknoll Downs- and agree with some of the other reviews about the noise upstairs (people walking around is loud) and the trains- though I used a ear plug at night and slept like a baby, and the upstairs footsteps were only really noticeable here and there... but we also live in the city so we are somewhat immune to that kind of thing.
We mostly did a lot of nothing- relaxing by the fireplace, reading books and drinking champagne, wine, etc. Exactly what we needed. We did take a walk around the property and saw the animals, and on our way back stopped and did a 1.5hr mini hike to Franny Reese State Park which is only a 5min drive away.
We loved this place and we will definitely be back.
Since this was our last vacation before our baby arrives in February, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a weekend at Buttermilk Falls. It was worth the splurge and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing stay.
We booked the Juniper suite with the babymoon package that is advertised on the website. This included massages, boxed lunch at the spa, water bottles, a onesie & stuffed animal. We were happy to spend the majority of our weekend on the property. We spent half a day at the spa & pool, went for a few walks, and lounged in our room next to the fireplace. We weren't planning to dine at Henry's, but luckily it happened to be restaurant week so we went for it!
Overall, the property is beautiful, staff was friendly, food was delicious, and we had a great experience. Our only complaint is that, for an expensive room, the bed was not very comfortable and the pillows were lumpy.
This is a quaint place that is quiet, relaxing and situated beautifully. The room was very nice (Rook's Nest guest cottage). The restaurant for dinner Henry's was very nice and good. Highly recommended. It's sort of a B&B meets a spa. Except for that warm welcome and attention you usually get at places like this, did not exist. Staff was not quite rude, but almost. Meaning we felt ignored at best. When you arrive or walk into the spa nobody greets you. The place seems to be run by a bunch of very young people who have not been trained in friendly customer service and don't have the sense of ownership that a family-run business would have. The yoga instructor seemed frantic to begin by 7:45. My wife and I were the only attendees of the class and we said don't worry about it, and we were finishing our coffee. She was running around like crazy and explained that it must start on time so that the spa could open by 9. She seemed scared. It was an unrelaxing way to begin yoga. The class was at poolside (indoor) and was very cramped (with only 2 of us!!). I did not enjoy it at all. My wife thought it was fine. My wife later went to work out at the exercise room and it smelled so bad she didn't stay.
Other pluses are the breakfast both mornings was terrific. They gave us a late check-out but didn't write it down. When I checked out the young woman immediately started explaining how she generally needs to charge for a full extra day since we didn't check out on time. I explained that I asked for the late checkout and they said it was no problem since nobody was checking into that room. The other young woman sitting next too her, who gave us the late checkout, turned to her and said I was sorry. Nobody said sorry to us though. They just don't seem to get customer service at all.
We chose Buttermilk for our wedding. We were having a very small destination wedding and wanted some fall color. Many venues we looked at wanted LOTS of money, even for a small wedding. We found the perfect spot in Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa!!
We had the wedding on the lower patio overlooking the Hudson River and it was spectacular! Kathleen, our contact, went above and beyond for us at every step. She had to deal with a bride and groom who were thousands of miles away but she was patient and attentive to our every need. I didn't expect the level of customer service we received from her! It was amazing and I credit her with helping make our day so very wonderful!
The grounds are breathtaking, the rooms are amazing (we stayed in two-Maynor Flats and Grand Laurel) and beds super comfortable.
They offer an afternoon tea complete with sweet and savory food options. It's a perfect snack to tide you over until dinner.
I had a spa treatment and would highly recommend checking it out when you are there. Fantastic amenities and customer service!
We had our wedding dinner at Henry's but I will review that separately.
The breakfasts were absolutely amazing and we woke up each morning excited to see what our options would be. Unlike some B and B's they offer a hot breakfast choice that is cooked to order so it's much more like a restaurant setting. Food was outstanding!!! Jenni does an amazing job!!
We are looking forward to our 1st anniversary trip and are already thinking about booking now because we know this place books up quickly during the fall color!
Stunning views, especially during fall foliage. Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa truly deserves 5 stars. the only reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because the beds are horrible and uncomfortable. I am sure if they replace the beds, they will get many returning customers, such as myself. It would be great if they also had more activities around the resort.
Located on 75 acres overlooking the Hudson River. Cascading waterfalls, swan ponds, organic gardens, fresh gourmet breakfasts, eco-friendly spa with pool, sauna and steam room. Rooms with private fireplaces, …Morewhirlpool tubs, and balconies. Less
