Detailed Reviews
This was the last stop of a week-long road trip with my father and brother and it was, by far, the best place we stayed all week! We stayed in a two bedroom apartment facing the lake so we could all be together. It was warm and cozy when we arrived on a cold, rainy day.
The apartment was clean and looked new and I loved the furniture! Instead of the cheap-looking, sleek, cookie cutter furniture you find at most hotels, the rooms are furnished with comfortable, homey beds and dressers. There were soft, fluffy towels and plenty of kitchen equipment to cook if you want (we didn't).
Marcy was great with suggestions for places to eat (Chase's for dinner and Via Main for breakfast) and advice for watching the ships in the locks. The over all vibe is warm and friendly, I felt welcome in a way you don't get at the big chain places.

I'm staying in the area for a construction project and would like o say finding the Lake View was a real surprise. The Owners and the Staff have been very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well equipped with everything you'll need for an extended stay. The Views of the lake and the golf course across the street are very comforting after a long day. While the rooms are some what dated they are clean and neat. I look forward to staying here for the next year to year and a half.

We were delighted with our stay. Our room was spotlessly clean, bed was comfortable and the location was very quiet. The room had all the amenities, and a full size refrigerator was a great bonus. While we use the stove, it as a good option to have.
The owners were very friendly and staff extremely attentive. I would nit hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed at the Lakeview for a long weekend. It was clean and spacious. The staff was outstanding and the owners were so nice! We watched the sunsets and ships go by and found time to walk along the path along the river. I would highly recommend the Lakeview if you are in the area! I will be returning.

From my 1st phone call to book a room my experience was great. Marcy did some moving around with reservations and found me a room for the week. Clean, COVID compliant, easy access, kitchenette and warm.
All the needs I have back home. She "fluffed up" the room each day and my final words- GREAT JOB!

Great stay as always - the management are extremely customer centric. The rooms are clean and well maintained . it is my go to place when I do business in the area. I recommend Lake view - spring and summer are beautiful - across from the St. Lawrence river .

Nice rooms and clean. I was warmly welcomed. What a view! I would stay here again. Close to downtown and the river view is awesome. Across the street from a golf course - just in case I had the time. Good walking area also.

First Impressions last a longgggg time! MUCH longer than we would have EVER been at Lakeview. Pulling in, we though it was a nice, quite location although it was on the main road. When we walked into the office, we had requested 4 rooms, and the lady argued with us that we only had 2, but then......all of a sudden found the other two. Doors to the rooms were unlocked when we went to walk in....wonder who was using our rooms before we did. Outdated furniture, bedding, as well as carpet, drapes, and kitchen equipment. DIRTY DIRTY bathroom, floors, and walls. Speaking of walls, the walls are so thin that we could hear the next room clearly!!! The air conditioners were SO dirty, that someone in our party actually got an infection from having it on for one night. Although we had paid for two nights, we left after the first night....actually, in the middle of the first night. When we asked if we could have any compensation due to our experience, the owner began to cry saying that she had a "fat girl" who cleaned for her and it was not her fault and she was going to loose money, so no. NEVER WILL GO BACK!!

Room Tip:Â Some of our party ended up staying at the Super 8......I would suggest this over ANY of these rooms.

I don't know who wrote the "glowing" reviews for this place, but I suspect it was members of the owners' family...
I stayed there with two other employees this past week, and I seriously regret choosing this place. Among my list of grievances:
- There are NO room-darkening blinds on the windows, just cheap privacy blinds! By 5:30 AM, I was getting full morning sun directly in the face, and it was bright as day in the room. Having gone to bed at 3:30 AM after a long night's work, I was not a happy camper. I finally had to get up and tape towels over the windows! I don't think I've ever seen a motel that didn't have decent blinds to at least darken the room so that you can sleep. When I raised this issue with the owner, she just kind of laughed, and remarked that some people also complain that the lights outside their rooms also keep them awake at night, as it's so bright in the room.
- The towels were nasty and musty-smelling, complete with bleach burns on them.
- It's the only motel/hotel that does NOT have any type of "do not disturb" signs to hang on the door, so we were routinely awoken by housekeeping in the morning...
- There is a $25 penalty for not washing any dishes you use in the efficiency...I've never heard of such a thing! Even the woman in housekeeping agreed that when you have the guest wash their own dishes, they're usually still all greasy, and they end up having to wash them anyway. Isn't the owner supposed to clean dishes, etc. after the guest leaves? I'm not about to trust the previous guest to clean my dishes; what is their incentive to do a good job???
- They opened the window in my employees' room during the day to ventilate the room, and when we go back late that night, their room was full of flies and bugs, as there was no screen in the window!
- Their version of a shower mat is literally a disposable piece of paper, which your feet stick to when you get out of the shower. It's absolutely useless. Also, there are no tissues (Kleenex) in the room; they simply don't provide them, so plan to blow your nose with toilet paper...
Perhaps worst of all, when I raised some of these issues with the owner, she sarcastically asked me "why don't you open a hotel of your own?", followed by "I don't tell you how to run YOUR business!" Of course, my reply was "yes, but YOU'RE not my customer; if you were, you COULD tell me how to run it, if you were unhappy with my work...".
These people have apparently forgotten that they are in the HOSPITALITY business, and not in the HOSTILITY business. If you want a good night's sleep, I suggest you look around for another place to stay. There are others in the area.

Response from MarcyLaramay, Owner at Lakeview Motel and Apartments
Responded Jun 28, 2016
You can always tell when someone is going to lite you up on the internet unjust as it is. I did regret having to finally hold the Supervisor of this group accountable (chg his card $50) for his men smoking repeatedly in my rooms - we post notices all over and they were ignored. Sorry this was not taken seriously but others can smell smoke weeks later even with extensive cleaning? Marcy
