Preskil Island Resort is celebrated for its breathtaking location with private beaches and proximity to the airport, offering a tranquil atmosphere and spotless accommodations. Guests have lauded the resort's extensive amenities and the staff's exceptional service, though there are occasional comments on the need for faster service and more dining variety.
While opinions on value differ, with some concerns over extra costs and meal options, the overall experience is one of serenity and professionalism.

Detailed Reviews
I was transferred here from the Solana Beach Hotel mid holiday due to developments with the Covid19 pandemic.
This hotel is only 15 minutes from the airport, however it is not (or at least when I was there) under the flight path and aircraft noise was minimal, however some flights were cancelled.
Many rooms of differing types available most with sea view but some with garden views, the grounds are extensive as was the choice of beach all with sun-loungers and bar service.
Meals were buffet style but ala carte dining was also available but not sampled, fresh food could also be cooked to order such as Omelette at breakfast.
Main swimming pool: very large and warm, smaller pool also available in the grounds equally as warm but just more secluded.
Main beach very sandy and gently sloping, waves were small or non existent, beach/swimming shoes recommended.
Staff here were amazing, very obliging and could not be more attentive, circumstances were difficult during the time of my stay as many restrictions were imposed by the Government due to Covid19, but the staff took this in their stride an improvised when and where required.
Unfortunately many of the hotel facilities closed one by one as the number of guests dwindled, but even on our last day when guest numbers were down to about 15 there was still a very good dining service, bar service and room cleaning, plus the pools were still open but pretty much everything else was stopped or closed.
I could not leave the hotel complex to explore what was locally available for my entire stay due to the restrictions.
Could not fault this place, it has recently been totally refurbished and is immaculate, the grounds are well tended and stocked full of plants not to mention the enormous banyan tree at the entrance.
I would thorough recommend, note this hotel does allow children.

This is my third stay at Le Preskil and my first stay at the newly refurbished Preskil Island Resort. My family and I spent three nights there for the Chinese New Year of the Rat! As I stepped in the hotel, I was amazed to see this new Preskil completely relooked with important environmental improvement to its structure, and nature friendly. The ceilings of the lounge and other open spaces are cladded with local rustic wooden rods. We had the feeling to be on a peninsula surrounded by water with overflowing pools Everything has been thought to make our stay pleasant.
We were welcomed and taken care by a nice team from the front desk while filling in the formalities.
The large family bedroom is neat and clean, as is the spacious bathroom and shower. Large open wardrobe with shelves and wicker baskets for storage, pulled by beige curtains.
Nice sea view from our sliding glass door and direct access to the beach. Amazed by the contrast of turquoise colour of the towels on the sunbeds.
Thanks to the GM, Vincent, for his constant presence in the perimeter of the hotel and his friendly approach with customers. This personal touch makes us feel gratified and special. Thanks also to Rakesh, Mahen for their kind attention to every detail, without forgetting Chef Vivek for the delicious food displayed at the buffet, a medley of choice, cultures and cuisine to suit everyone. We really enjoyed it.
We also had dinner at Mosaic restaurant, and appreciated the set of menu specially prepared for us, nicely displayed on a menu card! The Mosaic and 1810 restaurants also propose the menu à la carte for those who want a change.
We had our afternoon tea and snack at the Medley bar; which was just fantastic and great sitting by the pools.
I surely recommend the Preskil Island Resort to other members of our family and to our friends.

The island where the hotel is located is beautiful, about 15 minutes away from the airport (which eliminates any possibility of flying drones around it). It is family friendly, has a nice beach and they provide a lot of activities during the day. The spa is one of the best things about the hotel. Rooms are good, with a lot of space and nice view to the ocean.
But there were plenty reasons why, if we ever go back to Mauritius, we wouldn’t stay in Preskil Island Resort again. Ever.
⁃ Be aware that staff in general don’t look very happy to be there. No idea why, but all through our stay we felt we were a bother to them every time we were asking for something (this does not apply though for the people in room service or in the beach activities, they made us feel very much welcome and comfortable).
⁃ Even though both English and French are the official languages in Mauritius, at least in Preskil it is not. The staff constantly speak in French and are not well trained for answering or solving basic needs in English, having gotten different orders from what we asked on the menu (or when asking for plain water) at least once every meal. We got different wines delivered to us, coffee instead or tea, and they once even tried to bring us two bottles of water when we were trying to ask for a bottle of wine (!?).
⁃ Although we asked and it was officially not allowed, every beach chaise lounge under an umbrella had a smoking tray for guests to use. All around us people were smoking, not even minding kids and babies being next to them. We felt the hotel implicitly allowed them to do so therefore you couldn’t complain when smoke got on your face.
⁃ Same as many other places, drinks are charged extra from the meals included. Thing is, they also charge you for water and up front refuse serving you tap water even though it is drinkable (we drank it for our whole stay and no one got sick)
⁃ Be very careful, when doing the check-out, with the details of the charges done to your room. We had more than one mistake: they put on the list a bill from another room number and they clearly didn’t bother to check the name nor the signature; we ordered champagne and a rose for Valentine’s and while we got the champagne the rose didn’t, they charged us a bigger amount than corresponded for the champagne and also charged us for the flower we didn’t receive. And when we asked them to correct the mistakes, it took 5 people, over 45 minutes and us almost being late to our flight basically because of the staff not being well prepared to give quality service.

We had an amazing time as a familiy with our 17 month year old. The staff is very attentive, warm and welcoming and professional.
The resort is beautifully designed, newly renovated and spacious with attention to detail. We were amazed by the beautiful restaurants, the carifully groomed gardens with a great mix of flowers and trees and the view over the beautiful blue bays.
We had a room on the ground floor with ocean view that also offered a small garden.
The holiday was made special particularly by manager Iqbal Goolfree, who surprised us with a special dinner menu since my wife mentioned she wanted to try more of the creole food.
On the beach you find plenty of shade and you can try out various water sports and use swim/surf equipment.
We also had a massage in the also newly renovated and beautiful SPA.
It is easy to get to the nearby uninhabited island opposite by boat (external booking, but the hotel will be happy to help you book), where giant turtles live. during the visit we had a very pleasant and interesting guided tour of the island.
You can also go snorkeling directly from the resort or with a boat (that has a glass bottom to spot corals of the reef).
All in all a great holiday and great resort with a holistically aesthetically concept!

We stayed here for 9 nights on our Honeymoon. The rooms and facilities are lovely and food & drink good quality. The 1810 beach restaurant was our favourite, though it was a bit disappointing that it's not made clear you only get one meal here as part of the all inclusive.
Whilst the hotel is very nice we were left a bit disappointed from a honeymoon perspective. The candlelight dinner wasn't what we expected. We thought it would be a private table on the beach or at least on the terrace outside of one of the restaurants. But it was a normal table in the restaurant with a different menu. So the food was lovely but we were squashed between two families on a small table. It just wasn't very intimate or private and didn't feel very special. Also, there were no flower petals or a bottle or anything in the room. We've had it before on other holidays so I would have expected it in somewhere that advertises specifically for honeymooners.
It's also not made clear in advance that the all inclusive finishes at 3pm on the last day and you have to pay to extend that and the room if you want to. It was quite a difficult process to extend the room despite having already requested at the time of booking. We paid £100 but then had our flight brought forward due to a cyclone so we actually didn't need it extending for as long but we weren't given any money back.
Overall, this is a lovely hotel and we had a nice stay but I think it could be even better with a few small improvements.

We loved the Preskil Island Resort. Not too big, not too small and right on the beach with stunning views of the nearby Island and Mountains. The pool was great, but the swimming in the coral lagoon was unforgettable. We enjoyed the inclusive water sports including the kayaks (some are glass bottomed!), pedalos and glass bottom boat trip with snorkelling on the reef. Any overnight seaweed was cleared away every morning.
There were many ways to relax on the beach including loungers, sofas and beanbags. We always found somewhere to relax and plenty of areas in the shade.
My son (16) and I stayed in a Prestige Room overlooking the lagoon. Our room was beautifully appointed, huge bathroom with the best shower ever! The room looked brand new, the bed was very comfortable and everything was always spotless. Nothing was too much trouble if you needed something - thank you Rakesh and Ummah for the wonderful housekeeping.
Sooraj made us both feel so welcome in the Medley and 1810 Bar and sharing his knowledge of the island. Reception and Guest Relations were always very helpful, and duty manager Iqbal took time to get to know his guests, providing a First Class Service. Every single member of staff was courteous and efficient.
We enjoyed all of the buffet food. Great selection and freshly prepared. The Mosaic and 1810 a la carte were fantastic too, even on the set menu for all inclusive guests.
Hats off to Filo and the crew on the Cat Cruiser. This was a great way to spend our last day as we were not leaving until the evening. The Cat leaves from the hotel pier - not to be missed. All inclusive drinks, coffee and pastries, BBQ lunch, snorkelling, waterfall visit and time on Isle aux Cerfs. Even though there was a little rain during the sail, the only rain we saw in 6 days, we had an unforgettable trip. Having checked out before we left, the hotel 'Departure Lounge' was perfect for having a shower and getting ready for the airport.
I hope we can return soon as we fell in love with Mauritius and the Preskil Beach Resort. We will be recommending the resort to our family and friends!!

We stayed there for 5 nights in December. The spot is beautiful and the rooms are lovely too. Clean and comfortable, and also spacious.
However, we were disappointed by a number of things:
1. The staff seem to be overworked, which results in bad service. This is particularly noticeable during meal times, when it is quite a struggle to get a table and get the attention of the waiting staff. The buffet is crowded and the food is not the best quality.
2. We went for half board (breakfast and dinner included) but we were shocked to see that we were charged for drinking water at dinner time (2 Euros per bottle of filtered tap water!). We found this really excessive and simply poor service, considering that we had paid for dinner service. Drinking water is a basic necessity and we should not be charged for it. I raised this with the staff and the next day the F&B Manager came to my table and told me that "as a favour we will not charge you for water but don't tell anybody". He then lectured me about his long experience in the F&B sector and how water is NEVER included. I was so offended by this. I told him I didn't want any favours and I was annoyed by the principle, and that it was not worth annoying paying customers by making a couple of extra Euros from them in such a pity way, because as a result, we ended spending thousands of Euros elsewhere in extra activities, tours, etc. I just found the whole thing quite petty considering that the place is not cheap and that they charged me for tap water...
3. We didn't like the fact that they allow guests to smoke and drink (from glass bottles etc) by the pool and smoke on the sun lounges on the private beach. It was not pleasant to sun bathe or swim with the smell of cigarettes all around you, especially with kids and in 2020... they should have allocated smoking areas, in my opinion.

Not our 1st trip to Mauritius and based on previous experiences we anticipated the best as before. Beautiful rooms fresh and spacious the Resort beautiful and the beach awesome.
Food got a bit too much, no creativity in meals every night seemed to taste the same. The managers are friendly always walking around but I think they need to do more coaching by teaching the waiters how to work faster, happier. The waiters were always busy busy busy clearing up instead of serving they seemed over-worked and tired so it was hard for them to even smile. I think the waiters work really hard and the are under staff and need to consider more waiters.
As for entertainment it was boring and same every night, not much to do in the evenings.Going fully inclusive is partially a rip off at Preskil, you get the cheapest range of alcohol and the cocktails are disgusting. Not much of a choice you either drink cheap or pay a fortune for your drinks.
We had a family deluxe room my daughters bed was a wooden slab with a couch mattress on it which was really hard and uncomfortable, she eventually shared our bed.

As regular visitors to this resort we were a little anxious about our return visit following its renovations. We were absolutely delighted with the results.
The change to the hotel and gardens are stunning. The choice of food in the buffet restaurant is excellent and staff are extremely attentive.
The Mosaic Restaurant is very good and offers a good selection on the menu with prompt table service. Our trip to the 1810 restaurant was a poor choice on our part, going on a theme night which did not suit us, however our criticisms were noted and subsequently received an absolutely delicious meal on another night.
The new bar area is good with a very good pianist that also has a fantastic voice. Mostly service is good but can be a little slack at times.
The rooms are of a very high standard and housekeeping faultless.
Plenty on offer at the beach and no problem with sun loungers and sunshades. Drinks are provided by a flag system and works very well.
For us as returning guests is was great to see that a large number of the staff had been retained and their unfaltering attention to detail brilliant.
Our thanks to everybody at Preskil for making our holiday another one to remember.
Our special thanks must go to Vidousha, Armand, Prakash and Gerald in the restaurants, Jean Denis on the beach and to Urmmah in housekeeping.
We will be back........

A burger will cost 750 Mauritian rupees and a beer is 270 rupees. We were also on half board and ended up eating a lot of snacks from the local supermarket, where you will also find much cheaper drinks. Wine was an absolute killer. The cheapest bottle and 2 beers cost us 2340 rupees on our first night. If you order by the glass, you get a very small 150mls. It was cheaper to drink mojitos at 400 rupees each and at least you got a full glass! I am not sure which country you are flying from, but I suggest you take your full allowance of alcohol with you :)
