LIKES 1. Location/beach 2. Architecture/layout/spaciousness 3. Very Large (double deluxe with sea view) room, massive bed. 4. Cleanliness 5. Freshly made pancakes and omelettes at breakfast 6. Not crowded, tons of space and comfy locations/loungers/tepees etc. 7. Live music everynight 8. 1810 - On the beach restaurant. Excellent food. 9. Helpful friendly staff 10 electric bikes 11. Snorkelling with loads of coral and fish straight from the beach 12. Free watersports 13. Catamaran tour. I4 large pool 15. Spa and massage 16. Can use facilities on last day after check out. Luggage secure. Great shower and change area in the departure lounge DISLIKES 1. Included Dinner buffet was below average. Some good - pizza, most things with chicken or fish. But most things not great and some plain inedible/bizarre. Avoid beef or lamb IMO. Desserts mostly bad and not cold enough. 2. Avoid the cocktails. Generally the bar is a bit of a let down. Stick to the beer. 3. Never got the sense that there was someone experienced in charge - a manager - going around to check that things were up to standard but some things were plainly not. 4. Parts of the pool could be cleaner.

I stayed for 12 nights in November. I arrived at the hotel at around 10am, and the ride from the hotel is really quick, around 15-20 mins. I was informed my room was not available until 2pm (I was expecting this as it does say in the booking info), but was led straight to the small doctors area for my day zero Covid lateral flow test. Was really quick and simple, and not as invasive as the ones back in the U.K. Nostril only and just in the nose rather than trying to probe your brain. I was the. Given a card with a date on to come back in 5 days for a further test. Next to the doctors area, there is a changing/ shower facility that I was able to take my suitcase into so I could use all the facilities in the hotel. A quick change into my swimsuit and then I hit the beach. The beach was nice, but not what I was expecting from Mauritius. Not the soft powder white sands I was hoping for. But it was still nice enough. As this hotel is almost an island, there were plenty of loungers around the beach that surrounds the hotel. The temperature was about 30 Degrees, but there is a lovely breeze. Be careful. You don’t realise how hot it really is. I managed to burn on this first day, despite using factor 50. The water was gorgeous, with all the different shades of blue. November is coral breeding season so the smell is a bit different, but you get used to it really quickly. There are plenty of water sports available, accessed on the beach. I didn’t do any myself, but it looked like the staff were really approachable and happy to give advice. There are beach vendors that are really nice and chatty. They were pleasant and said hello each day. I really want to mention Sunshine. She is delightful and so friendly. Plus she has the most beautiful sarongs and other items. Please look out for her and tell her Natasha sent you. These vendors have had a terrible time with covid, where they have not been able to work, so where you can, please be generous. Plus, they don’t get anything in the way of food or drink from the hotel when they are there all day, so if you have a spare drink etc, or a bottle of water you won’t get through, I am sure they would gratefully receive. The places that really let the hotel down are the restaurants. I mainly ate in the buffet restaurant, and most of the staff just didn’t seem to know what they were doing, not as helpful and just need training. There we’re a few occasions where I wasn’t even offered a drink. A couple of times I had to call to a passing member of staff to ask for a drink and either they seemed put out by the request, or they brought the drink as I was just about to leave after finishing my meal. After every meal, you have to sign a receipt put to your room number so at final check out, you can settle any bills outstanding. Well, a few times, this bill was just thrown into the table, or I can as expected to take it from a staff member whilst I was eating, still with the fork in my mouth. And I don’t know if this is just a British thing, but often, when I was waking through the restaurant, if someone was waking in the same area towards me, I often stand to the side so they can get by first. Not once did staff thank me, or offer for me to go first. One actually rounded a corner on me quite fast, and bumped into me sending me flying into someone’s table. That staff member didnt apologise or check I was okay. It really does sound petty, I know, but over 12 days, it just really got to me and just seemed to get worse day by day. I don’t know if there was a new till system for ringing up the bill, but it seemed to confuse the staff as most of the time, I saw 4 staff members stood around it talking and looking confused. I never once saw 1 staff member at that till so it seems that more training is needed. The Mosaic restaurant was nice, with some nice views, but there wasn’t a lot of choice and the menu repetitive. The room was lovely. I was in a superior room on the ground floor and overlooked the volleyball net in the beach. This was perfect. Not too close so noise isn’t a factor, but still close enough to everything to be convenient. The staff member who looked after my room was Uma, and I honestly cannot praise her enough. She was thorough, friendly and kind. One day, I had to ask her about where I could get a phone charger from and she was so lovely and patient, making sure I got all the information I needed. The rooms take all different plug types, plus in the electric sockets, they have USB ports for charging phones etc At check out, I had an issue with a charge on my bill (not a big deal and has been sorted out so won’t get i to it). The reception staff got a manager, Jessica, to come and speak to me. She was delightful and lovely. She dealt with the matter, took my comments on board and I truly believe that this issue will not happen again. She put my mind at ease and was just so warm and patient. If any supervisors are reading this, Jessica and Uma need payrises. They are a credit to this hotel. The only other thing I feel I have to mention is the stray dogs. I am an animal lover, as it seems a lot of the guests were when I was there. There were 4 stray dogs, who are the most adorable things. A yellow, male lab mix (I named Buddy), a little Black and Tan pregnant female (I named Betsy), and smaller Black and Tan female (Dotty) and another light coloured male dog with an injured paw (Harley). They were so well behaved, but starving and infested with fleas. I was so upset to see the hotel didn’t provide for them at all. These dogs made my holiday so much better. I fed them every morning and they just stayed by my lounger throughout the day, happy for me to stroke them and give them fuss. They even followed me back to my room in the late afternoon , just wanting some love and affection. I really do believe the hotel has a duty of care to these beautiful, wonderful animals. Even if it’s just to put fresh water out for them and giving them leftovers. I don’t want to hear any excuses of the dogs being encouraged back if they do that. The dogs have already adopted this hotel as home and they are there whether the staff like it or not. I believe the hotel should be in contact with a charity to make sure they are given regular flea treatments and also neutering. It broke my heart, leaving them behind. And I know I am not the only one who felt that way as another guest was genuinely looking to adopting one of them and bringing her back home with them. Please look after them and make sure they are healthy and well. They are just looking for some love. So all in all, it was a lovely holiday, just really small, easy things that could make it better. I am so happy that I came and enjoyed this holiday and I am sure you will too

We live in the north of Mauritius and did a 2 day staycation. There were a few hiccups like our door being left open by cleaning staff and I had to close it on my return but thankfully nothing was stolen. Also our bed broke on the second night which really hurt my back. We were given another room but no apology was made and most importantly of all the management did not ask if I was injured which was extremely worrying. The staff at the resort are generally happy with the odd member not as happy as others, one lady was very miserable on our exit at reception and was more interested in looking at her phone than asking us if everything was good with our stay. The food and service is great with free water sports and a big pool. The happiest staff were the bar and restaurant people. The live music is great and the singers on the Thursday night were top class. Hopefully we will be back soon but it would be fantastic if all the staff were consistently happy.

The resort is really nice and located on an island. Rooms are modern and convenient, as are the amenities. The large pool offers good views to the sea. The seas itself is very average with stones and sand cannot match places like Seychelles or FP. Worst thing was the coral smell, so if you are sensitive to fishy aromas don't visit in November. Sadly the staff is mostly unprofessional, especially at the breakfast buffet and the entrance gate. The security was very rude, as lots of parking was occupied, they insisted we have to park outside the area and walk back to the hotel - only after an intervention from the reception we could park on the premise. Be aware that the hotel is facing east so you won't have any sunsets on this coast of Mauritius - instead views on Lion rock are beautiful. Location is conveniently close to Airport, but air traffic is low so no disturbances. Prices are quite high for 4*-resort.
