"The Roost" as our home base made for an exceptional vacation in Long Lake. Our lodge was very clean and the beds comfortable. The owner-manager worked to help all of us feel welcome. The beautiful site on the lake delivered amazing sunsets and campfires on the beach. The Roost living room and kitchen were a little tight for two couples. However the porch was nice and large for communal meals. Due to the cooler temperatures we use the indoor table more often. "Big Ledge", The Lodge next door to ours in which our brother and his family stayed, was much bigger but cost twice as much. Stay there if you have four or eight people. We would definitely stay here again. Our local hikes included goodman mountain and blue mountain, both of them moderate yet challenging treks which we greatly enjoyed. We also kayak twice on Long Lake and once on blue mountain Lake both of which are jewels. The dinner at Adirondack hotel exceeded our expectations. Excellent food and service.…
Due to the pandemic, we couldn't stay with family like we usually do. We knew Motel Long Lake had a great reputation from other relatives having stayed there in the past. There were no motel rooms left, so we booked the only cottage that was left, which was the new (2017) mobile home. It was more than we wanted to spend, but we were willing to splurge this year to be able to make our yearly trek to the ADKS. Even though a mobile home isn't as "Adirondack" in feel as the cabins, it was incredibly clean and had everything we needed for the week. We spend most of our time at the lake anyway, so we just needed a safe, clean, comfortable place to stay. The owners are very nice, respond quickly to inquiries, and clearly work hard to maintain the property. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to others!…
When we first arrived it was obvious that providing a clean cabin wasn't priority, the dinning table had what looked like pencil shavings all over the table as well as all over the floor and the trash can lid. I told the owner as she was looking into a matter within our cabin in which the cables were all disconnected from the TV mind you I am paying 2200.00 for 6 day stay, she didn't seem to care the place was dirty. Now paranoid has any surfaces been sanitized. day 4 the weather warmed up, and the foul smell of death was filling the corner of the living room, and I spent the entire day killing flies I'm not kidding I must have killed 50 flies they just kept appearing. In the upstairs bedrooms one of the rooms had the smell of body odor I was completely turned off by this visit and being a return customer of LLM&C, I don't think I will ever go back. another disturbing addition is I witnessed the owners son use one of the cabins for a party night with his lady friend or wife, anyway that is not professional, makes me wonder if those sheets were washed, is that why I smelled body odor in one of the bedrooms of my cabin, was that too used as one night stay over by family. Another complaint is the cabin I stayed in was missing a section of siding so it looked run down, again for 2200.00 dollars one would expect better imagine taking pics of your cabin for friends to look at ha ! Maybe a offer of a modest discount would have been nice, for the missing siding and the dirty cabin instead I was ignored. They won't be seeing my money anymore. I suggest bring your own linens because you just don't know who slept in the bed the night before.…
I picked the location purely for the view of the lake. We enjoyed the stay and the cabin is very nice. There cabins are do not have housekeeping and there is a note saying if they have to clean there will be a charge which I find slightly offensive after the price of the cabin. The stay was nice but I would suggest shopping around before committing.
We stayed here when my brother got married. The cabins are for sure a cut above most of what you see in the ADK's and the family that runs the place was great! I can't remember the actual cabin we were in, but over the course of the week, I was in most if not all of them. They are all well-appointed, clean as a whistle and have close lake views and lots of screen porches. I grew up in Long Lake, but I never got used to insects, so I LOVE a screened-in porch on a summer night. Great place to swim, play, paddle, or walk right around the bay and get a motorboat. The town beach with its awesome dock is an easy walk away. The grounds have lots of space to explore and a really cool common Pavillion for hanging out or getting together with other guests.
