It was a pleasant enough stay for a few nights. The room was cleaned every day and towels changed daily. Our room was small but the bed was comfy, the TV worked and it was quiet enough. Great view from the balcony. There was one night where my wife was woken by the smell of next door smoking pot. I slept right through it. I wondered why I awoke with memories of strange dreams! The Staff were pleasant enough. Yes, there are better places to stay, but I can't fault it. Free coffee and tea, free luggage storage for after check out. Close to the subway and to some great eateries. I honestly felt safe enough there. I wouldn't stay there again, but I don't regret the time that we did spend there.
This place is awful - I don't even know where to start. Luckily New York is an amazing city and we didn't spend much time in the hotel so it didn't taint our trip too much. Firstly, the neighborhood is rough, after dark it didn't feel safe at all so luckily it was only 1 minute walk from the subway and the pictures on the website are NOT a true representation of the rooms at all. Upon arrival we weren't even smiled at or given a hello - a very miserable young lady just asked us for our passport and to pay the remaining balance. No mention of hoping we enjoy our stay or asking if we need anything. Not even a smile. Service was terrible. The rooms are below basic - very dated and in desperate need of upgrading. We stayed in the middle of February so temperatures were at -5 degrees C. We asked for more blankets as we were only given a very thin duvet - to which the miserable lady on reception scowled at us and asked "have you put the heater on". This hotel claims to be a green hotel and yet they want you to leave a heater on all night? Eventually we got ONE extra thin duvet. You can hear EVERYTHING in this hotel from the rooms - there is no privacy whatsoever. Whoever was staying in the room through our wall decided to keep bouncing a tennis ball against our wall (not the hotels fault) but after asking them to stop many times we told the reception staff who just looked at us blankly and said "I will look into it". They never looked into it and the bouncing ball never stopped. There seemed to be members of the community coming and going in the reception area as they pleased, like a shelter. Again, that is fine if that is what you're about - but you need to advertise it as such. It didn't feel safe especially as copies of personal documents and passports were kept just behind the counter so anyone could have got access to them. This wasn't good value for money and I wish we had stayed somewhere else. The worst part of this hotel is the staff - they are beyond unfriendly and look as though they want to be anywhere else in the world. The only saving grace of this place was that it was close to the subway and there was a lovely coffee shop just down the road. Highly recommend you pay a little more money and stay somewhere else - especially if you are planning on spending a little time in your hotel room.…
The hotel is ok, but staff isn’t. They are unfriendly and not interested in their customers and not helpful at all. Location was great, near the subway. It was nice to have a balcony in the room, but there was not any breakfast.
What can I say except if you are thinking of boo this place then don't it's a hostel travel agent sold us this holiday under false pretences. Firstly no breakfast buffet secondly its so noisy. Thirdly it's advertised as a hotel but it most certainly ain't. The list will go on and on. Oh they do have a tea urn and hot water for coffee there is no lounge bar you sit in a small corner of reception completely ruined new york for us and long island city is well away from manhatten and the subway and metro are not disabled friendly if you want to use a car service which they say they provide then that's $40.00 one way its run by youngsters for youngsters not the older person
I stayed in this hotel for two night and booked through Hostelworld.com. price was comparatively cheaper than other available hotels nearby. This was the main cause choosing this hotel. Very ordinary but neat and clean. Room size was also good. Metro station is 3 minutes and subway is 8 minutes away. This place is not touristic but Manhattan is 15-20 minutes away through nearby metro station. Value for money.
