We rang this hotel to check availability and were told accomodation was available. We told the telephonist we would view the room the following day. The next day we caught the subway and walked 10 blocks to view the room. When we arrived we were met with the frosty reception "Have you made an appointment to view a room?" We... More

Due to being stranded in NY because of the volcanic ash problem in Europe we looked in Time Out NY for a hotel to stay at. We found this one and decided to stay here because of the review, boy were we wrong. The information we were given when I booked was totally wrong and for the price (I know... More

The personnel were mostly professional and polite which I appreciate (and expect) at a hotel - except for the breakfast chef who was way out of line, trying to flatter female visitors for their looks, and way too personal. The restaurant on the rooof however (serving dinners Mon-Sat and brunch Sundays) was very nice and with a good view over... More

My experience at Ravel was great! I stayed during one of NYs biggest rain storms but everything was still great ( I just didn't get to utilize my balcony or the rooftop). I'm a native New Yorker and very familiar with all of New York's neighborhoods. If you're coming from over seas or this is your 1st visit to the... More

Winter special was not honored. Called and rep. said he'd make a note in the computer. of course, it wasn't noted and owner did little to honor the quote I had been on the phone. Poor effort made on his behalf, eventually refused to return my phone calls.

this hotel is a real dump the pictures are edited in such a way you can't see the real view of a power planet and a boarded up house, as for customer service there isn't any !!!!!!!! also is a very rough neighborhood full of projects.

I stayed because I had to attend a Fashion Show event in the city and had to be in Brooklyn the next day for business. I reviewed and selected to stay at the Ravel because of the location and convienence. They provide free parking and I was able to take advantage of a great rate. The nite started at the... More

Photos are certainly ridiculously inaccurate compared to the "real" view, which is of a boarded up house and a small portion of the Queensboro bridge. (The only genuinely nice view is from the penthouse lounge, which doesn't open until after 5pm.) Yes, there's a balcony in your room, but who wants to expose themselves to a gross street roaring with... More

I stayed here with my 2 children in the king deluxe room on the 4th floor for $99/night. I was surprised to find a clean modern room with ample space. The slightly high ceiling made it feel more spacious as well. The view was great. Only complaints are: local calls came out to incredible charges per minute. I made about... More

I really don't understand why other people are complaining. The Ravel is an old building in an industrial area. With that old building and area comes the charm. By that, I mean that the floors were uneven at times, the ceilings were not perfectly flat - but for me that only adds to the charm. The rooms were large, and... More
