I needed a getaway and had never stayed at a real B&B before, and I booked pretty last minute. Luckily Wendy and Russ had a room available! I stayed in the Seneca room, which has a full bathroom attached to it. Wendy and Russ were home to greet me when I arrived, and they suggested a couple of places for me to eat dinner nearby or grab a wine tasting after 5:00 (which is the typical winery closing time). The breakfasts were fantastic! Fresh brewed coffee as soon as I came downstairs in the morning, fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries/coffee cake, and then a main course of a frittata or quiche or sausages or breakfast nachos! I had huge breakfasts each morning that fueled me to hike at the state parks around the area (and they gave me a to-go container so that I could take a snack on my hike if I needed one). I didn't need lunch until 3:00! The bed was very comfortable, towels were large and plentiful, and the room had AC. Wendy and Russ live on the first floor of the B&B, and they hosted a camp fire one night for all the guests, made dinner and fed me and the other couple who were staying at the B&B one night, and generally made me feel welcome without being invasive or overbearing. What a pleasant first stay in a B&B! I'd love to go back.

Location-wise, the B&B is midway down the east side of Seneca Lake, which means you get sunset views. There are several restaurants nearby, and Wagner Winery (and other smaller wineries) are very close as well. It's also only a 20 minute drive to Watkins Glen and a 35-40 min drive to Ithaca. I thought this location was ideal for a waterfall + winery themed vacation.

My stay at The Fox and the Grapes Bed and Breakfast was relaxing and fun! Beautiful views combined with a convenient location allowed us to visit wineries, breweries, waterfalls, and do some hiking. Wendy and Russ ensured our stay was hassle-free and relaxing. After our daily adventures, we enjoyed sipping wine on the expansive deck with beautiful views of Seneca Lake. I slept soundly on the cloud-like mattress and bedding. I highly recommend this scenic and charming destination when you visit the largest of the Finger Lakes.

I just had an utterly relaxing and delightful stay at The Fox and The Grapes. My bedroom was so cozy, the bed and pillows extremely comfortable and the towels nice and fluffy. My friend and I had early starts to our day (before the fabulous homemade daily breakfast was put out) but Wendy and Russ made sure that there were plenty of food items available to us to get our day going in the correct direction. The grounds and spacious decks made being outside extremely enjoyable as well as relaxing and the views of the lake and surrounding area were inspiring. Wendy and Russ made sure we felt welcome in their beautiful B&B and I would love to return some day!

The breakfasts were delicious and Wendy made very good accommodations for my wife, who is vegetarian. They also provided a very nice cheese plate for us to snack on, so if you leave hungry…it’s your own fault. All bedrooms have a full bath which are very nice. Grounds and house are very nice and there is a lily pond with frogs that serenade you day and night.

This is my second trip up to this beautiful B&B since I had such a wonderful during my first visit. This time it was my mother and two of my girlfriends who enjoyed the comfortable & beautifully decorated house, porches and grounds (including the pond). Wendy, Russ and their adorable dog, Schnitzle were the perfect hosts. The rooms are lovely, spacious and very comfortable. The B&B is close to so many winery's and other libation destinations, dining, shops and just lovely scenary around the lake. We are already planning our next trip and highly recommend other check this place out!

We enjoyed our visit. The B&B is under new management. It was clean and the breakfast was excellent. We got a free cheese plate! We stayed in the Seneca room - with views of Seneca Lake in both sides. The innkeepers Russ and Wendy were nice. And we just loved the house dog Schnitzel! The B&B has a large refrigerator, Keurig, lots of teas and filtered water cooler. There are plenty of areas to hang out: A nice deck with view of the lake perfect for sunsets; a living area and 2 family rooms with TVs. The room was comfortable. My only complaint is the smell of the water. It’s well water and smells like sulfur. We managed. Just brought some water up to brush our teeth. Overall great weekend getaway!

Thank you Lysandra, I am glad you enjoyed your stay and Schnitzel misses you both. I apologize for the state of the water. Unfortunately we are in a bit of a drought and we have a well. We arenot able to back-flush the softener hence the sulfur. We did find a work-around and have purchased charcoal filters a will use those until we have sufficient rain.

My wife and I stayed at the Fox and The Grapes from 9/25 through 9/30. It was such a wonderful stay and it is the PERFECT ship off point for your Seneca Wine Trail (And all other Finger Lake) adventures. Bud and Kim go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. The breakfasts on the deck overlooking the lake were AMAZING, the house and grounds are beautiful, and the East Lake room was perfect. Guiness is also the best B&B host dog we've ever met. As for location, you are MINUTES away from 10+ wineries, breweries, and restaurants. You are also very close to Watkins Glen State Park (A must do), downtown Watkins Glen, multiple state parks/waterfalls, and the international speedway. The other lakes and towns are also very close and accesible. Overall, we would highly recommend staying at the F&G if you'd love a laid back, relaxed, updated, romantic B&B experience in wine country.

We were guests at The Fox and the Grapes again for our annual FLX visit (well, after a Covid pause in 2020). This was our third visit. The new owners, Wendy and Russ, were delightful and we enjoyed our visit very much. We also enjoyed meeting Schnitzel, the new inn dog-she was very friendly and seemed to be adjusting well to her new home.
The property is always welcoming with lush manicured grounds and a cozy feel inside. We liked the rearranged great room and especially appreciated the new, larger refrigerator available for guest use. It was the perfect spot for our traveling charcuterie components that we enjoyed along our many winery visits. Our room, Seneca, is very welcoming, with a view of the lake and the beautiful grounds. Breakfast every day was delicious and the perfect start to each of our 3 days. We are already booked for our next visit in 2022 and look forward to seeing what’s new at the inn then. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness Wendy, Russ, and Schnitzel!

My sister and I spent a week in this lovely B&B exploring this beautiful region. The weather was outstanding and we enjoyed discovering small towns USA and tasting the wine scene.
Russ and Wendy are welcoming and even went above and beyond in serving me a favorite breakfast (lox and cream cheese)
The Stella room is spacious with fluffy towels and upscale linens.
It was relaxing just enjoying the deck in the evening watching the beautiful sunset.
It’s a visit you want to experience!

This is a very quaint bed and breakfast. We had the entire house to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed just hanging out on a rainy day. The hosts are so kind and generous, giving us a bottle of wine and making a delicious cheese plate for us to snack on. I would highly recommend The Fox and The Grapes!!
