Detailed Reviews
In late May another couple joined my wife and me in a bicycle trip along part of the Erie Canal, and we started at Lockport. The Lockport Inn was a good choice for our first overnight. We liked the idea of staying at a non-chain, family run business. If you phone, you can get a good price (our room was US$145 including taxes). It isn't near the historic part of Lockport, near the canal, but that wasn't so important to us. It's easy to find on one of the main roads into town (state highway 78), and it's pretty near some good shopping centers and okay restaurants.
From the road, the motel looks like lots of other American motels, but once you drive around back, the rooms look onto a gazebo near the centre of the parking area, set within a lovely little garden alive with blooming flowers, with a tree-lined lawn on the south side of the parking area.
Our room was clean and comfortable. It wasn't special or unusually elegant in any way, but our impression of the motel overall was that it was excellent. Aside from the lovely area in the back, we appreciated the friendliness and the helpfulness of the management (who I suppose were probably the owners). Among other things, they offered us a locked shed where we could secure our bicycles. We found this very generous and thoughtful. They also offered advice for restaurants.

We stay here whenever in town. The people are warm, friendly, and helpful. Although it is somewhat an old time motel in character, we love the feel of it. It is well maintained and thoughtfully prepared so we have a great experience. Our room of choice has a couch, a lounge chair, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot. Little touches like a wine opener, wine glasses, and paper towels make it nice. We take a walk every morning to breakfast with multiple good options within a mile. Much better than a chain hotel.

When you first pull in the design can look a bit dated, but once you open the room door, you forget that. The staff are all very friendly and exceptionally helpful and the room was very spacious with a seating area as well as a sleeping area. It was very clean. We enjoyed our stay very much,

I pride myself in finding great hotels for our family vacations, and thought that I had found a gem when I reserved multiple rooms at the Lockport Inn. Unfortunately, none of my family members had a good experience. Looking around the rooms, I could see that the furnishings themselves were fine, it was the carpets that looked very dirty, if these were replaced it would be a nice improvement. My daughter has worked in hotels, and she still talks about how disgusted she was by the carpet around the toilet in the room she and her husband shared. She will never go back there! That room also had a bad smell, probably coming from the carpet. One man in our group slept in a single queen room. This ended up being a shortened room that attached to a housekeeping room. There was even a shared door with the utility room that was locked - but he had no ability to lock it from his side. He had to trust that no one would enter while he was sleeping. He said that at 7 am every morning some kind of loud machine started operating on the other side of the door and he did not get the rest he needed. He was our driver so that was a bad situation. I had specifically asked about quiet rooms when I called to check out the hotel, and had been told that all rooms were quiet because they were encased in cement. I suggest that they only rent rooms like that single queen when they have warned people! Hopefully they will continue making improvements, communicate better with people and turn things around. I hope the best for them, but I could not drag my family back.

We had reservations here for our family/friends.We traveled 9 hours to this hotel and we didn’t know their pet policy so we asked, and they said no pets. So we let the front desk guy know that we completely understood, and that we would have the pet stay somewhere else at our families.
This man said that no, we STILL couldn’t sleep there, even after EXPLICITLY telling him that the animal would not be in the property. We have a child, and elderly woman, two young females and two young men turned away from this hotel for absolutely no reason. Because we have pet? That isn’t staying there? That’s why WE can’t sleep there? So I’m assuming that no guests in this hotel have pets at home? And if so ..why can they sleep there and we’re turned away when we’re hours away from home? Absolutely ridiculous. Don’t spend your money here. Not family friendly. The pictures of this place are very angle friendly, and honestly, we’re glad that we didn’t have to stay here and suffer through a horrible experience.

Friends from Buffalo and Canada came to Lockport to visit. While singing karaoke from a laptop (so music was not loud) Management came to advise that we were too loud and they want it quit. It was 7:30PM, not in the morning, but on a Friday night. We booked 3 rooms at this place, but will never come back to stay because this place is not kid friendly and management acted like we were trespassing or not paying to stay there.

The green book would not approve, Black & LGBTQ Folks will get a REQUIRED deposit. I could tell it was some funny business with how embarrassed the man was to ask for it. They didn’t check my Priceline/booking reservation… Lockport already is a sundown town so make sure if you’re black or brown to plan accordingly

We only stayed one night, as we were just passing through to visit Niagara Falls. The people on the desk were very nice when we checked in, and the room was really good and quite big, and had coffee making facilities, a fridge, and a microwave. A really pleasant stay.

Extremely friendly staff. Very clean. Excellent comfortable beds and pillows. Older gentleman cleaner was really nice to talk to and helped me when I locked myself out of my room. I will stay here again. The town itself was quaint, convenient and quiet. We had dinner 2 minutes away at the Pot of Gold bar. It was also a good experience.

This was our first time staying here. A very pleasant surprise. This family owned hotel beats the major chains. They still use keys for the room doors. Desk attendant was very friendly. We had a suite. It was very well maintained and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, there was a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker. There’re are 4 separate buildings. We had a room at the back of the property. The hotel is on the main highway. We heard no traffic noise. They even supplied wine glasses and a corkscrew. This was a first for us. We would definitely stay here again.
