Have to say that the Arnold House was the perfect getaway for our special weekend - not only was it my birthday, but my (newly wedded) husband and I had just signed marriage papers in the city and wanted to celebrate. We reached out to the Arnold House pretty last minute, but they were so accommodating. The room (we had number 9) was great - cozy, but large, with all the needed comforts (awesome bed, pillows, sheets), the tavern hosted us and made us also feel so special, the lounge area in the evening is perfect - with fireplace, comfy couches, and a nice style to it all, and then the breakfast was just right. I had seen reviews stating the noise levels were high in the Arnold - but we didn't find that at all. Yes, it is an older house - so of course there will be some noise, but we had a great stay, no disruptions and would be thrilled to come back there and stay another weekend. Definitely recommend the place!

One of the few places in an area where trout fishing is a big sport that actually serves fresh trout. It is boned for you before being served so just dig in and eat it with the skin which is nicely crisped. Service is pleasant. Sit outside on the porch, weather permitting. I understand they also book weddings in their barn and have some inn type rooms for rent.

Thank you for the review! We are happy you enjoyed the trout as it is a year round staple for us, and one of our favorite dishes as well! We hope you come join us again soon. Best- Justine & The Arnold Team

We eat here a couple times year when staying upstate during the summers and weekends. We are rarely disappointed. This past weekend, we had a great meal (Summer Salad, BBQ platter, veggie burger) - all were delicious. What made it even better was that the chef came out to inquire about the meal and sent us some complimentary truffle fries (also delicious)! Definitely a nice place for dinner in a cozy, 50s vibe tavern - recommend!

My family and I stayed at the Lake House and far from charming and cosy it was just run down, cold, dark and shabby. We could have got a great Airbnb for this price and we had little support or connection from the Arnold House other that going there for breakfast. We did have a nice meal in the Tavern one night . We tried to light the fire downstairs for some warmth but it was so smokey we resorted to huddling around the outdoor fire . If it really raining we would have been very uncomfortable as the spaces were unheated and really not cosy . The whole place is a throw back to ? the 50’s or 60s but it just seems run down and tired to me , not in ANY way luxurious or inviting to hang out in . The upside is the location on the lake which is lovely and the ability to use the outdoor fire and the canoe. The staff were kind enough to respond to my disappointment with a voucher but really I wouldn’t stay here . I’m sure there are better options .

We went to the Arnold house in early April for a last minute weekend away from the city. The reservation process and check-in went extremely smoothly. The sunroom/fireplace area is extremely inviting and cozy, and I regret that we did not have enough time to utilize it more. I was surprised to read some negative reviews commenting on cleanliness--I found the space impeccably clean including bathrooms and flooring. The fixtures in the bathroom are not modern, but they are completely functional and clean. We had a wonderful experience in the Tavern--I got the trout special and my partner got the ravioli, which we enjoyed so much that we bought some frozen ravioli from the same vendor at a nearby marker to take home. City pricing for sure; but the quality definitely rivals that which you find in NYC. As far as noise goes, you can occasionally hear sounds from other parts of the house, although these were muted and not disruptive. The breakfast is served in a very inviting space and has all you need in terms of a hotel continental breakfast: full spread of cereals, waffle iron, grapefruit, hard boiled eggs, coffee, juice, quiche, sausage. We had a wonderful quick weekend away and would be delighted to return.
