So the good: very charming hotel, room was large, great view, love the bathroom tile and fire place in bedroom, staff was very nice, location is great nice short walk to restaurants and shops Bad: the carpet in room was filthy, stains everywhere, refused to walk barefoot. the noise came from all angles the people walking above and from the rooms on the sides walls & ceiling paper than my husband is hard of hearing and could hear the noise clearly, baseboards yes the baseboards were filthy, the sitting room on the suite has no TV kind of poor use of space This is sad to me because this hotel has soooo much potential it needs some TLC BAD!!!
Stayed here for a while. The bed is comfortable and nice but always choose a room that bathroom door is not facing the bed because I find it a little smelly though you can close the door it still not a pleasant smell for me. I stayed in diff rooms so trust me when I say my favorite rooms are at the fourth floor! Front desk is always pleasant but I wish the sanitizers are actually available in the elevators so its available when guests come in and out.
We arrived for our 2 day reserved room. Carpet was stained and dirty the safe was out of order and they had a 1/4 roll of toilet paper with no backup for a two day stay. When I went down to get more I received attitude from the desk. I found out later that one of them was the manager. It's a good location.
This is an excellent place. I stayed there for a few days to revisit where I lived during college 20 years ago - and the current situation gave me the time to go. Obviously, during the pandemic they've had to limit their services and thought there appeared to be a low level of staffing, every single person working there was kind, courteous, and welcoming. My room was wonderful and clean. I assumed that the continental breakfast advertised would have to have been a no-go due to the situation, but they had converted it to pre-packaged grab and go things which I think was very generous at a time they are operating at reduced rates and could easily have just said it wasn't possible to offer at this time. I would definitely return.
The room was clean and very large, but there was nothing in it! We had a bed which was very comfortable, one chair, a desk and desk chair. There was no dresser, no closet, no ironing board or iron, no refrigerator ( it was for an extra fee, which to me is petty for the price). There was a buffet type stand with a coffee pot, but no table to eat at. The pictures depict fancy, cozy rooms but we could've done cartwheels in the empty space (I'm not kidding). Where was all the nice furniture they showed in the ad?! The floors were also creaky and we could hear the neighbors all night long (this didn't bother us but it might bother some people) Plus we paid a lot extra for a view which I assumed would be of the river. However, the only view was of an empty house next door, the trees in front of the hotel and the parking lot across the street. We had a very small glimpse of the river through the trees. Breakfast was a joke. Because of covid they only offered cereal, wrapped muffins and coffee. Positives: Walking distance to stores, restaurants, the river, decent toiletries, clean room, modern but small bathroom. Staff was friendly, the grounds are attractive with a charming ambiance. However, at almost $200 dollars for the night, I expected a little bit more than this. An added note, the hotel was at 25% capacity due to the virus. They could've given us one of the rooms pictured. Also if you wanted any spa services they required you book a week ahead of time. I booked this hotel about 4 days before arrival so I was late for any of the spa amenities. (Just be aware of this)…
