Detailed Reviews
What a beautiful gem overlooking one of the most scenic stretches of river Nile! I made a stopover at it yesterday while on my way back to Kampala for Jinja. It turned out to be just what I needed to cool off and experience the healing power of nature. This is thanks to its abundance of towering trees and a vast array of birds with serenading calls. This gives it the priceless feel of a jungle and even better, it has a fully-fledged restaurant with both indoor and outdoor sitting arenas where one can bond with their loved ones. That is something I liked about it, what I really loved though is that Ceyde, its manager doesn’t take anything for granted. She always ensured that we were as comfortable as possible and well catered for. The rooms were equally impressive thanks to their cozy state and beautiful art pieces.
We’ll surely be back here in November for our family holiday. Hopefully, the discounted rates that they are currently offering will still be available.

We stayed here after a day of white water rafting. What an oasis! It's a tucked away spot that overlooks the Nile and provides an amazing sunset watching. Accomodations are like glamping - reinforced tents, each with a patio that provides a peaceful lookout of the river. Monkeys play in the plentiful trees around the property. The manager was extremely accommodating, allowing us to keep our room for a very late checkout. The restaurant is a special treat - homemade breads, organic eggs, spicy curry... so tasty! As a bonus, the hotel is completely ecofriendly. Stay here if you can!

We recently had an amazing stay at The Nile Porch. It's not our first time staying there and it will NOT be our last. We absolutely LOVE this place! The location is just 15 minutes outside of Jinja Town, right on the Nile River. It has some of the best views! The restaurant, The Black Lantern, has great food - especially the Pork Ribs. But the rest of the food is delicious, including the breakfast options.
We have stayed in both the Family Cottage and the Riverside Bandas. Both are unique experiences, and both are wonderful. The Riverside Bandas are peaceful and a bit more tucked-away. Each Banda has a view of the Nile River and gives you a real camping vibe, without sacrificing the conveniences. Glamping on the Nile River! The Family Cottage is great for larger families or groups to share. The common space is relaxing, but the front porch overlooking the swimming pool is great for evening cocktails, morning coffee/tea, or just relaxing.
But the best thing about The Nile Porch is the staff! In the typical Ugandan style, the staff truly cares about each guest as family. But even more than usual. From the manager giving personal attention and learning our names, to the cooks with lovely flare and greetings, and the waitresses helping with anything and everything...these people are great at welcoming and caring for you!

This place is run by the most AMAZING manageress and her fantastic staff. I have never met such a thoughtful, motivated, kind, friendly, attentive, happy, delightful, hard working person to lead her excellent and fun team. Her knowledge of the local area is extensive and she has excellent contacts for every activity. The food is absolutely incredible, we have eaten like kings for a very reasonable price. We extended our visit because we weren't ready to leave and we cant wait to go back. I received a text message from one of the guys she recommended when we took a boat trip to the Source of the Nile thanking us for supporting local people but it is us who are truly grateful. Thank you Nile Porch, we recommend you exclusively for a great family get away or as a break away without family. Views of the Nile are spectacular, as it the amazing wildlife. Very clean resort and pool and nothing is too much trouble for the staff here. Spacious accommodation and our perfect stay in Jinja. Definitely see you again very soon!

+1
We live in Mbale, and have discovered Jinja to be an excellent getaway town. The Nile River Porch has a great manager who treats the staff well and caters to the guests wonderfully! The first time we visited we extended our stay because we all enjoyed ourselves too much to go home! We have visited both family bandas and 3 of the Tents overlooking the river. (Our favorite is the 1st Banda, but the tents are truly lovely as well!) The food is always delicious, ESPECIALLY the ribs!!! And the crepes for dessert, Yummmmm.
The pool has a beautiful and quiet atmosphere. The restaurant patio/porch is also used as a hang out-lounge type area as well. The monkeys can be seen throughout the day which is always something fun to watch; they are not intrusive or obnoxious thankfully!
The staff are happy to bring tea/coffee/orders to your room or delivered to your personal porch. There is a little walkway that goes to the neighboring Camp and the short stroll is quite nice.
Don’t forget to take a boat ride! To be honest, I wasn’t too excited about the idea of a boat ride, but it was delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! We saw at least 15-20 different birds the evening we went and river otters. The boatmen were friendly and excellent tour guides as well.
I don’t want to give away this gem, but I do want to support the staff at the Nile Porch and let others know about this great place! Go, eat, swim, relax, ENJOY!

Nile Porch absolutely saved our trip to Jinja. After originally being booked elsewhere, where we turned up to discover they had double booked, I phoned a friend, who organised with Jada a place for us to stay.
The hospitality we received when we arrived was second to none; a glass of juice ready and waiting for us, after a long and stressful afternoon. Almost instantly we were able to relax in to the serenity of the surroundings, and thankfully, made it there in time to watch the most stunning sunset.
So much thought and effort has been put in to creating such a wonderful space. Even down to the small details, such as fabrics and soft furnishings.
The amenities on site are fantastic, with a great restaurant attached. The food options are incredible, with something to cater for everyone; there are also a great selection of drinks. The food itself is very tasty and generous in portion size.
The staff are very accommodating and helpful, and nothing is ever too much. So much thought and effort goes in to ensuring that you're able to just sit back and unwind, whilst taking in the beautiful views and vast array of wildlife.
The accommodation itself is fantastic; well thought out, with everything you could need, and filled with oodles of charm. It is clean and the beds are extremely comfortable.
Jada also organised several activities for us whilst we were staying there, including a stunning sunset boat cruise of the River Nile. A fantastic way to see some more of the local wildlife, and take in the beauty of the surrounding area.
If I ever find myself back in that direction, without doubt I would stay there again. What the team at Nile Porch have created, is a space you can just relax and let your external stresses leave your body. I left feeling incredibly rejuvenated and thankful that the other accommodation had let us down; it allowed us to experience hospitality on an entirely different level.

Nile Porch is in a lovely setting on the Nile River in Uganda 🇺🇬.
We stayed in a two bedroom cottage with bath and front porch. It was an ideal location close to the pool and restaurant.
There is also plenty of free parking.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped with mature trees and beautiful plants.
The cottage is nicely appointed with two bedrooms and a large living space.
The owner Ceyda is warm and welcoming, providing hands on access if needed.
I highly recommend Nile Porch when visiting Jinja.

We were welcomed by a very natural environment by the riverside. The manager and her staff were very humble. The rooms have the natural touch, a person who loves nature wouldn’t want to leave. The food was good too, and done in good time.

We only stayed one night but will be back again for sure. The communication from start to finish was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect and the food in the restaurant was great. What we really liked was the view from our room but also the super friendly host and all the friendly guests there. The vibe was very laid back and friendly. Loved it!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here with our teenage children. The view is stunning looking out over the River Nile with monkeys visiting every day! The food was fantastic with a great range of options to choose from - fresh fruit every meal, the ribs were amazing, delicious wraps etc etc. The staff were all exceptional and the owner was super helpful. With rafting and quad biking just next door we didn't need to drive anywhere.
We had such an amazing, relaxing stay in lovely accommodation and would definitely stay here again
