This "hotel" is really the lodgings for the Swahili Divers station, although we stayed there without diving. It lies right on the beach on northwest Pemba, and you pass through a spot of proper rain forest to get here. The rooms are nice although basic (no air con but fans). Tis is a jungle camp more than a hotel, so...

Wonderful diving, especially when the tide was incoming. Excellent experienced instructor and the usual good company. Have been coming back here for many years, and will miss Raf and Cisca now they have left Kervan Saray.

It is difficult to say how good this place is. We came here 6 years ago after our wedding and finally managed to come back this year. The owners Raf and Cisca, have created a small lodge on this tiny island. This is my kind of place, but it’s not for everyone. If you want luxury you need to pay...

Our stay Kervan Saray beach lodge was incredible. Its pretty hard to come by such a remote rustic lodge on the edge of an island with such great hosts. The lodges itself has a communal sense about it which is most likely achieved by having laid tables for meals which everyone at the lodge joins in on. There are also...

We just got back from a fantastic experience at Kervan Saray Beach Lodge. We spent there 4 nights and 4 wonderful days. The room itself is quite simple, but has everything you need. BUT - the main thing there is the great atmosphere! Raf and Francisca are extremely welcoming, kind and lovely people. They made the whole place feel as...

We had a real nice week in remote Kervan Saray in November last year. It's, as you can read in other reviews not a 5 star resort, but has all you need (and more) and provided with lots of friendliness and personal attention. We were here for a 6 night 5 day diving package as part of a 2 weeks...

I spent five fantastic nights with Cesca, Raf, and the Kervan Saray/Swahili Divers family. From the start, Cesca was so helpful and friendly. She helped me plan my trip and transport, giving me invaluable and timely advice. Then when my Precision flight was cancelled 2 days before departure (!!!), she used her own contacts to get me in the last...

I knew that Kervan Saray was a 'rustic experience' - similar to many places I've stayed over the years - but what I found instead was that the lodge is very rundown and desperately in need of work. There was seldom water for showering, no water in the pool, our fan was broken (not ideal with island heat!), toilet seat...
