The hotel was exquisite! I loved the grounds and the lights around the outdoors. We ate breakfast both of the mornings we were there in the view. It was buffet style but very nice, our waitresses Adrienne and Julianna were so attentive, happy and upbeat. It was a pleasure. Everyone was friendly and happy to help if needed, but we had no problems at all!

Hotel's Favorite
We absolutely loved this hotel! We were originally split between staying here or the Lake Placid lodge. Having experienced a little rainy weather this weekend were We loved the location. You are a 5 minute walk to town but honestly with all the amenities this hotel has to offer you may not even need to leave! The hotel is so unbelievably comfortable. We stayed in a Great Range room on the top floor and not only was the view spectacular but the room was so warm and inviting. The sitting area by the large windows and sliding glass door was exceptional. We spent most evenings relaxing here drinking wine enjoying the amazing view. The absolutely only complaint we could even think of was we wish the room had wine glasses and a coffee maker. But alas all you had to do was call the fron desk and they will bring you the glasses amd coffee was served in the lobby all day. All of the staff we met were incredibly gracious and cordial throughout our stay. There were a few hiccups but nothing that weren’t rectified quickly and none that would take away from our experience. The hotel itself has thought of so much to make your stay enjoyable. As stated above everything was so comfortable. They were adirondack chairs everywhere outside for you to relax. There was even a spot with a fire each evening. The beach area is really nice. Although it was too cold to enjoy the water we did find ourselves down there for sunset to enjoy the unremarkable views. We used the gym each morning and it was almost always empty. They had a variety of machines and weights with windows that looked out on the property. The lobby was so warm and inviting just like our room. It had several spaces all with the same Adirondack vibe where you just wanted to sit in a chair by the fire or out on their deck in a rocking chair and read for hours. The smells of the smoldering fire to cinnamon and pine were so intoxicating. We decided to eat breakfast in the room most mornings to enjoy the view. The food was really good and very reasonably priced. We also dined in the Cottage and the View. The cottage restaurant had a bar like atmosphere which was really fun with lots of comfort food - think nachos and big sandwiches! We really enjoyed our evening there. The View is their signature restaurant and was exceptional. The wine list was amazing as was all of the food. The atmosphere felt a little more formal. Overall we were elated with our choice of hotel. The Mirror Lake Inn delivered on virtually every detail. We were there on the peak weekend in fall and the hotel was full but it never really felt crowded or was cumbersome in any way. If our travels take us back to the Lake Placid region we would without a doubt stay here again!

The Mirror Lake Inn has been our favorite vacation resort to go to for years, and it never disappoints. The grand entrance is warm inviting and full of charm. There are always fresh cookies, my kids favorites. The staff are extremely friendly, kind and accommodating. The rooms are much larger than any regular hotel, and they are full of elegance and Adirondack charm. The bedding is extremely comfortable. This time we stayed in a family room and it was perfect for our family of four. The kids each had their own bed and space, and my husband and I were able to stay up after the kids were asleep. It was extremely quiet, we could not here any other neighbors. We love the breakfast buffet, and the gorgeous views. There is a beautiful pool and hot tub, with natural surroundings, open late until 10. Whether we are there in winter or summer, there are always endless activities. It is the best location to be in in Lake Placid, directly across the lake with access to Mirror Lake, a 1 minute walk to all of the shops, all on its own large private grounds. This time, we enjoyed the outdoor fires, and the kids skated on the ice rink, and we all skied at Whiteface. Besides the activities, I could spend days just at the Inn itself, in the common rooms with the giant fireplace and games, views of the mountains, bar and spa. I honestly think our most fond memories as a family with young children are the times we have spent at the Mirror Lake Inn. It evokes a quintessential charm that is unique, Adirondack, and difficult to find in a world of mass production and chain hotels. If I could choose any place to go on vacation, it would be the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid.

We stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn for the NCAA National Alpine Skiing Championships. Things my kids and I loved, in order: the pool and hottub area are beautiful, spacious, and relaxing, especially the waterfall; the service was amazing - they were welcoming, kind, always made eye contact, and gave helpful information; the breakfast buffet started at 7:30 (we are early risers so this is key) and my kids ate more food than I've ever seen them eat because all of the food was so fresh and tasty. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the kids loved the fresh cookies they received at check in. It was truly a luxury experience at every turn. We have stayed before, and we will stay again! Hopefully next time we will remember our ice skates so that we can skate on Mirror Lake and the rink at the Inn.

My husband and I planned our trip to Mirror Lake Inn for his birthday. After viewing the website, he called the Inn to ensure that our room would be a “suite”. (We require a separate sitting/living area because of our incongruent sleeping hours). We were charged $3454.00 for three nights for this “suite”. Well, our “suite” room was just a bedroom and bathroom. The bed had an economy mattress and the room was outdated with a brown matted carpet. The fireplace did not work properly. I asked for an additional blanket and was given a scratchy old blanket. The television was no larger than a desktop monitor. The room next to us was filled with a group of adolescent or very young men that was a bit disruptive. We were not offered another room - they stated that there were not others available even though their website stated there was a multi-room suite open. We only stayed one night. We were tired from lack of sleep. It was so disappointing, we even drove home in an ice storm. When we got home, we called the manager. He declined to reimburse even a portion of the charges. He adamantly denied that we asked for a suite of two rooms. He told us we should have done the math with the square footage listed on the website. We told him that the very definition of a suite is more than one room. Our booking receipt stated “suite”. We were additionally charged for three days of “housekeeping gratuity”. Also, we never received any housekeeping for the time we were there - they never came. We will never return. We paid $3454.00 for one night - it’s infuriating.

Dear Elizabeth H, While I am both extremely disappointed and disturbed by your review, sadly I am not surprised. When we spoke by phone, your husband was very candid in his intention to blackmail me into issuing a refund by threatening just such a review. Obviously, you decided to follow through and make good on that threat. That is unfortunate. Giving credit where credit is due though, the review was very creatively written. Reading the review was the first time I ever heard about many of your allegations. They were never mentioned to me. I suspect having taken a couple of weeks to work on the piece afforded the additional creativity. It is very tempting for me to go through and speak to each and every one of the many inaccuracies in your review. Instead, I will simply make a couple of points for the many other savvy and honest TripAdvisor users to consider as they evaluate your review and ultimately make their decisions on where to stay when visiting Lake Placid. • You acknowledged that you looked at the room online before ultimately booking it over the phone. The room is clearly described on the website as a “Studio Suite” and the images on the website depict the room as such. • I personally made this reservation with your husband. I have been with the Inn and making reservations for guests for 20 years. I know the rooms well and am confident that the room was described accurately. • You left the Inn around 8:00pm on your 2nd of 3 days. At no point did I ever hear from you to question your room layout or to share any concerns whatsoever. If I were in your position and the hotel manager had booked me into the wrong room, I would have mentioned that upon my arrival to the room. I would not have waited until the end of day 2 and then left abruptly. • You were not charged for 3 days of housekeeping service. Despite staying until 8pm on day 2, you were only charged for 1 day of housekeeping. We agree with your assessment of not returning to the Inn. We are honest, fair, and reasonable people and we like to deal with honest, fair, and reasonable people. Christopher Jarvis Director of Rooms Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa

Mirror Lake Inn can’t be beat!! Stop looking, you’ve found the best spot! The hotel itself has so much charm and the views of the lake are breathtaking. It is impeccably clean and each staff member is professional and very friendly. The rooms are generously sized and comfortable. I was provided with information about the area including times and addresses of must see attractions and you can walk into town easily as well. The spa and restaurants top it off! A must stay!

I was only there for one night. Wish I had more time. It was a beautiful place. Check in was easy and staff were nice and helpful. My room was very clean and beautiful. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The room did have a small refrigerator. Robes were in the closet. The sitting area in my room overlooking Mirror lake was the best. I saw kids enjoying the pool and hot tub, getting board games at the desk and enjoying fresh cookies. In a sitting area people were sitting in front of fireplace reading books. The food was very good in Resturant.

we stayed in C10 which is in a separate building right on the lake. We've never spent $1200 a night for a room and I don't think we would again. It was a large open room, not a separate bedroom and living room and the building didn't have elevators. So we had packed a lot for a lot of different activities and although we had a bellman help us carry stuff, it was a bit disappointing. It had a beautiful couch and chairs around the fireplace but the TV was very small. The larger TV was by the bed but we'd have rather watched around the fireplace. They offer free snowshoes but make sure they credit your deposit when you return them. Great location, very walkable to town & restaurants. The building where C10 is located where very dimmly lit. When I tried to turn on the light in the 3rd floor lobby, there was no bulb, I should have called the front desk but didn't.

My partner and I spent a week here between Christmas and New Years. We stayed in the Lake Cottage. The hotel grounds are classic and tasteful with a great family feel. We are at the View several days for breakfast and one evening for NYE dinner. The food was good and the atmosphere was lovely. We had lunch one afternoon at the cottage and it was very good as well. The hotel is perfectly located - walking distance to the restaurants and shops, but far enough off the main track to be quiet at night. The hotel rooms are clean with comfortable bedding. The staff made all the difference in making this an incredibly stay. Everyone was so hospitable and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great time.

What a special place! Spending $600/night on hotel is not something my husband and I do but we were left with zero regrets! Looking at photos of the rooms prior to booking, I felt the decor was a bit gaudy but it was actually so warm and comfortable! Every detail is so thoroughly thought out in this place. It’s a fairly large operation with multiple buildings but everything is so well labeled and organized. We are both carpenters and we were highly impressed by the craftsmanship of every trim and built-in - no detail was overlooked, truly. Every sign is custom made to fit the esthetic of the resort. Even outdoor trash bins are built like mini houses that mimic the exterior of the buildings. We stayed at the Mountain View building where most rooms face the lake, it’s absolutely breathtaking. That building connects to the main lodge where the restaurant, gym, spa, and pool are with a walkway so you never have to go outside. The pool area could not have been anymore perfect! Again, everything is done to absolute perfection. The giant jacuzzi is outfitted with different benches and ledges to accommodate everyone’s comfort. The sauna is claded with (what I believe was) cedar so it smells divine. Inside the sauna you can find a wooden bucket and a ladle as well as a conveniently located water spout for those that want to add some moisture to the dry sauna. The pool is beautifully illuminated and features a waterfall which adds a bit more magic to the already stunning environment. Loungers with thick cushions and perfectly rolled towels are readily available and did I mention the most luxurious robes in every room (slippers upon request). The resort has this fresh scent, the kind that is subtle and not overpowering. Bedding and pillows are of top quality and everything is very well maintained. We stayed in room 838 which is one of their “top category” rooms and upon walking in I was a bit disappointed by the bathroom - a standard tub, nothing special. I think had they converted the tub into a giant shower it would feet that much more luxurious and more fitting for the room category but the pool area had certainly made up for it. The only downside there is that you have to walk through the main lobby to get to the pool/spa area so you see people walking through in their robes which is an odd scene (we ended up being those people too and it felt very awkward).
