Just spent a wonderful weekend at this charming B&B! Large yet cozy room with gas stove fireplace, robes and very clean. You can tell they pay attention to detail in the decor-artistic, fun and interesting! Breakfast and coffee were delicious too! Hosts were absolutely fantastic. Loved it!
We thank Nan and Red---a great hostess and host---for making this past weekend so wonderful. We stayed two nights in the spacious Tree Top Room which was perfect for us. Like the entire Paradox Lodge, the room décor was loaded with cute antiques that provided so much character. The breakfasts were excellent: the scrambled eggs and French toast, coffee, and choice of juice together with the New York Times gave us a great start to the day. The Lodge is a short walk to the heart of Lake Placid Village where you will find many excellent restaurants and stores where you can purchase souvenirs of your trip. I came to Lake Placid for a guided fishing charter on that great body of water, but we found a nugget of gold in the Paradox Lodge. I cannot wait to return.
The owners (Nan and Moses) are two amazing and engaging people. They recommended a number of local restaurants that were very good (Caffé [sic] Rustica $$$, and Smoke Signals $) and worth a visit. The room had everything we needed and was very clean. The lake is in the backyard and we went kayaking using the boats on site. The breakfasts were prepared very well; the eggs were light & fluffy (and so were the pancakes), and the experience of sitting there, reading the NY Times while sipping coffee/tea while the food was being prepared was relaxing and a great way to start every morning. Some things to note, they have claw & ball bathtubs that have showers in them and wrap around curtains. I found them delightful and adds to the charm for of the B&B. We plan on going back and hiking again. The best part of the stay was that most people sit on the front porch in the late afternoon after a busy day and visit.…
We spent two nights here last week. We always prefer to stay in B&B's if possible. The lodge is exactly as portrayed on the website. Our room, the Whitney, was in the Cedar Lodge and a good choice for us. The king bed was comfortable, the shower great and everything was spotless. You could choose your breakfast time between 8-9:30 and coffee was available earlier. The breakfasts were very good and came out hot which is not always the case. The lodge is on the main road but noise was never an issue for us. It is about a 10 minute walk into town where there are a multitude of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay but the political discussion not so much.
We just checked in. I read a review that someone thought this place poor! We travel a lot and this place is charming and romantic as anyone might imagine. The bathrooms might be small but are cool with great soaps and beautiful white towels. I say this as a designer as well as a guest. This little inn has real soul! Our room has 4 big windows and we look over the lake. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed..why, because it couldn’t be further from the holiday inn style! This place is thoughtful, warm and makes you feel good!
