We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years. We stayed last weekend and will not be returning. This property has been sold and the rooms are not being adequately maintained. The entire property is showing signs of age and wear. The bushes in front of the rooms are extremely overgrown and practically touch you if you sit in the chairs on your "patio". This is also a safety hazard as anyone could be hiding/lurking in these bushes waiting for you to enter/exit your room. The curtain on the sliding glass door had black spots all over what should have been the white backing that faces the glass. It might have been mildew or mold but it surely shouldn't have been on it. The mattresses on the two queen beds were rock hard, not comfortable and likely past their life expectancy. The bathroom is holding up well and the shower was good. Personally, I like a bigger bath towel but that isn't a huge deal. The weather the first weekend in November was unseasonably warm and the room was hot and stuffy. The option for air was to leave the sliding glass door open or run the wall air conditioning unit. Since we were on the first floor and we didn't feel safe leaving the slider open while sleeping, we chose the a/c unit. Almost immediately upon starting the fan, you could smell musty, dusty air entering the room. We woke up in the middle of the night feeling stuffed up so we turned off the unit and basically tossed and turned in a stuffy gross room. In the morning, we investigated the a/c unit and found it was VERY dirty! Looking inside the vent you could see large balls of debris, dust, dirt and unknown (almost looked like nesting material from something) and the washable filter was plugged with filth. We took some pictures to share. It is super disappointing to see a property decline like this as it has always been a gem.…
We had a big room, private balcony, lovely view, and, modern stylish bath. I had requested a view and they obliged. The place was very clean, quiet, and staff was friendly and helpful. Coffee, tea and homemade muffins in the lobby were just what we needed for breakfast. Great location.
Art Devlin's Motor Inn is a perfect place in Lake Placid to stay. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Lovely and super clean bathrooms really make you feel like a 5 star hotels. The ground have gorgeous views of the high peaks and the location is walking distance to the Lake Placid Village.
I booked a stay at this motel for Ironman Lake Placid in July 2023. I just got a phone call telling me they are canceling my reservation because they screwed up and "forgot" to close their online booking as they were overbooked through a third-party site. The manager then called back to apologize for the confusion and to let me know he will put me on the waitlist and personally call me back if a room becomes available. He also honored my reservation and booked me at another property in Saranac Lake. I am really impressed with the level of customer care from the manager and look forward to my stay next summer.
Great value for the price. Everything is clean and comfy. Very quiet neighborhood. Great views of the mountains. Close to coffee, gas stations, and restaurants. Pool has a fence around it and is clean. I’m recommending this place to anyone who comes this way. It is not a lot to look at on the outside, but it is a great value.
This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel. It was so great that when I came back through, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to stay again. The hotel is clean and the rooms are warm and cozy, perfect for a chilly fall night. And the views are great as well!
We had a room with 2 queens on the second floor. We had a mountain view that was lovely at all times of the day. We were impressed with the size of the room and bathroom. This motel was slightly removed from the busyness of Main Street but close enough to walk to everything. The morning muffins were delicious! We love staying at older motels and luckily this one was consistent with the positive reviews. We learned about it on TA. It was clean, the beds were comfy, the towels were nice. We highly recommend and would love to stay here again!
This place is classic Adirondack. With a hotel a little older like this the rooms and bathrooms are larger. If you like a view of the high peaks from your room you can’t beat it. Great place to bring your dog. Best pool in Lake Placid. The whole area is like your private compound. Extremely clean and well kept up. Beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable and Art Devlin Jr. along with his wife, the manager and the staff keep the place in immaculate shape!
We were a group of 28 Club members on a weekend trip. Kevin greeted us warmly on arrival. Hubby and I were in a king room on the upper floor and had a wonderful view of the mountains. The bathroom and room were very clean. Breakfast at the hotel was coffee, tea, muffins and donuts but there are several restaurants within walking distance. Downtown is also a short stroll away. Parking is limited downtown, so try to walk as much as possible. There is an outdoor pool and a large patio. We did spend a lot of time there. We hope to stay again sometime.
We came up for my husband birthday to go fishing. Stayed in the Gold Specialty room. The room was great, location wonderful, staff extremely pleasant! As another reviewer said, the first glance when you pull in makes you wonder because it's basic, but the room is spectacular!
