We stayed here three days as a weekend getaway. Location: this is amazing right down town on mirror lake. Very close to stores/restaurants. Rooms: rustic - but fits the feel of the town. Facilities: we are big gym ppl. The gym was musty, the equipment is old precor in functional condition but far from modern. Wife went to spa - she said was good. Common areas: again rustic feel but the building is feeling dated. The concrete on the facades is breaking off. Overall the hotel reflected the general feeling of lake placid. The nature is amazing. The town is tired/dated. Restaurants were ok, shopping was ok. This place is for hiking, swimming etc. if you are going to town for this think you will be more than satisfied.
We stayed here for the Ironman as it was the host resort. I should have done more research before booking; I had assumed based on past Ironmans that the start or finish line would be on site - it was not, all race events were 1/2 mile away or so. It appears online that rooms usually go for $2-300, but the cheapest room for the Ironman was $449. We upgraded to a waterfront room for $539/night, which was a stunning location with a pool right on the lake. It also had very convenient parking above the rooms. However, those prices are outrageous and the hotel is not a good value at that price, though I doubt anything is a good value on race weekend. No room service, the pool never had towels, and it only had 1 shade umbrella for all of the pool lounge chairs - the rest were over dining tables in the corners of the pool. Way too many noisy kids, which is not their fault, but a dedicated adults only pool would have been awesome. We had an excellent early check in with courtesy champagne and good consistent daily cleaning. The hotel location is excellent, and these waterfront rooms in particular were in a perfect location with pool/lake access and lots of great restaurants a block away. Free kayaking, stand up paddle boards, and pedal boats, and Fernando the attendant was awesome! I’d stay again, just not at these prices.…
Beautiful mountain and lake views. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Great location- walked around the lake each morning- great restaurants in town. Close to everything!! Pools were nice and had plenty of kayaks, paddle boats and boards available. Even did lakeside yoga!! Really enjoyed our visit!!
We loved this resort so many activities and everything is walkable distance . Pet friendly always a plus ! We will definitely be back . There’s different styles of rooms and beautiful views. Many pools and lake side
We’ve been to the HPR several times, our favorite overnight in LP. This time was a bit more special given the retreat of the pandemic. We were happy to see the upgrades to LP in prep of the world college winter games. As usual our room was perfect and the staff most helpful.
Wonderful, helpful, and cheerful staff. Great location and beautiful scenery. Very peaceful yet so many things to see and do. Great jetted tubs, multiple indoor and outdoor pools, great amenities, good food and lots of fun! Was even able to bring our dog! We will definitely be back again! Thanks to all the wonderful staff at High Peaks for making our stay so great!!😃
The location of this hotel is great, right on Main St - with shops and restaurants all along the way. The room was spacious enough for a couple’s hiking weekend away in the mountains. The complimentary coffee in the morning was actually very good and came along with brand name sweeteners and real cream or milk - definitely a plus for this coffee lover. Grab your coffee and sit back up on your own balcony outside of your room and enjoy the gorgeous views in the morning! Had a lovely visit.
This hotel is one of the nicest properties in Lake Placid, in my opinion. It’s updated and has great service. Parking was easy. Exit to the lake Mirror right from you room and amazing view. We didn’t realized it has 3 different buildings, so if you want to enjoy pool or a bar you have walk around, same with check-in- don't bring you luggage to reception, as you might to drive to another building (we didn’t know) . Also, just one building has direct access to the lake, so make sure you book the one you need.
High Peaks Resort never disappoints. We are frequent guests... comfortable, immaculate room with a million dollar view and friendly staff. Pools are kept clean and kayaks are a real bonus. They keep the property up beautifully.
The hotel is stale and old. Carpet and decor from the 80's. Chroline smell from the pool in the entire lake house. Room had AC that just rattled and the dorm room refrigerator did the same thing. Impossible to sleep. Just left and returned home. There are better hotels nearby.
