The Winterberry B&B is quaint and charming village home with 3 guest rooms. It's just a 20 minute walk to downtown Lake Placid. Built in circa 1890, this home has seen many historic events, including the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games held in Lake Placid.

The Winterberry Inn is my “go-to” home-away-from-Home in Lake Placid, and I’ve stayed there several times now. This very charming B&B is such a comfy place to stay and the attentive hospitality of owners Rand and Lisa is the icing on the cake. The location is also ideal, just 2 minutes drive to the Olympic Training Center and maybe 5 minutes to downtown Lake Placid. Highly recommend!

The Winterberry B&B is exactly the kind of place I wanted to stay while showing a friend Lake Placid. The entire place is so cozy and welcoming, it didn't feel like I was staying somewhere unfamiliar- it felt like I was visiting family. The fire place and couch made the perfect hangout area to enjoy a cup of tea while planning our next adventure for the day. The Whiteface room was incredibly spacious, with a large private bathroom that had more than enough room for two adults to get ready in. Every area of the B&B- both private rooms and community spaces- were incredibly clean. Randy and Lisa couldn't be more perfect hosts. The two could tell you every trail, peak, restaurant... ANYTHING you need or want to know about Lake Placid. Even if you aren't big into taking 4 hour hikes through one of the 46 high peaks, they can be sure to tell you where to go to see amazing views of the town and nature! Their knowledge of the town and things to do is just one thing that made our stay incredible. The hot breakfast that they prepared was an unexpected touch to the weekend. From the freshly cut fruit to the warm fluffy pancakes, it was so nice to not have to spend more money on a breakfast and coffee in town. Plus, the home-made almond poppyseed loaf was to die for! We arrived late Friday night, and the check-in process was quick, easy, and self-sufficient. I was worried about needing assistance but Randy has thought everything through to make sure that your stay, from start to finish, will be seamless. Randy and Lisa go above and beyond making sure your stay is perfect. Needless to say, this will be the only place I stay when returning to the most adorable town on the East Coast!

Seb and I had wonderful stay at winterberry! Everything was clean and fresh. We stayed in the Olympics room, and it was perfect for our quick get away. Randy was easy to deal with, super friendly, and had some great hiking tips. We'll be back!

We stayed at Winterberry for a week at the end of May. It is a great place to stay. Clean and comfortable with all that you need. Randy is so welcoming, giving great info about the local area and even joined us for a drink one evening. Lake Placid is a fantastic area to visit. Scenery is breath taking and there lots to do. Walking, canoeing, lake cruises, olympics facilites to visit and the village centre is pretty. We found good places to eat and enjoy a drink. The walk into the village centre was a bit longer than we had anticipated but there is a local bus service that stops at the end of the road so that is easily remedied. Would we return? Yes we definitely would! Hope to see you again in the future.

We are so glad that you had a great stay in Lake Placid at our little Winterberry B&B. It was so great to meet you both and share our knowledge and love of the Adirondacks and our history-filled Olympic village. There is always something going on in town and the Adirondacks are a wonderful year-round playground. We hope you are able to come back again for a visit in the future. Thank you too for the invitation to join you out for a drink - it's so fun to get to know our guests and meet people from all over the world! Best regards, Lisa & Randy

The Winterberry B&B is such a gem. It's a warm, old-fashioned and cozy home away from home. I stayed for a week here while my 13-year-old son was in an olympic camp here, and it was an absolutely wonderful place. The owner (Randy) was a great host and then some. I felt like an old friend pretty much from day one. The location is ideal, just a 5-minute walk to the Olympic Training Center, and a 2-minute drive to Lake Placid Main St. I'm going to have to figure out a way to travel back here again soon!

Thank you for the kind words in your review, Don. You were a wonderful guest...a friend really more than a guest, and I know that Randy thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with you. He spoke very highly of you and loved the snowshoe on our trails and the XC ski at Mt. VanHoevenberg. We hope you can make it back for a visit soon. Our best. Lisa and Randy

As a college student on a budget, I initially panicked when I started looking at hotels and inns in Lake Placid where I was spending the weekend for the ECAC Men's Hockey Championships. Prices were hiked up and for $200+, it seemed the best I could find was a less-than-comfortable low-grade hotel room far from the rink. Then I found the Winterberry Bed & Breakfast - a short drive (or a long, brisk walk) from the rink and a welcoming beacon of light in the -16 degree weather (the b&b is lit up with twinkle lights along the roofline and icicles). Randy was incredibly accommodating - from having the room ready early so I could check-in before the game to finding last-minute space for me when the boys made it to the championship and I needed to spend an extra night. I felt safe, happy, and comfortable in both my private room and in the shared spaces. And the breakfast was wonderful. I can't wait to come back.

Our stay at Winterberry B&B was nothing short of excellent. The B&B is located just a short walk from the Olympic skating venues, Olympic Museum and shops restaurants and activities of main street Lake Placid. Communication was excellent and the Check in process was quick and seamless. Winterberry is quiet, warm and cozy, and delightfully simple. Everything was clean, well appointed and stocked for guests comfort. But, that's just the building... Hospitality here is the key. Randy and Lisa are perfect hosts and innkeepers...available when needed, but completely unobtrusive. Randy is a wealth of knowledge about Lake Placid, the Olympics, the Adirondack region and winter sports and outdoor recreation in general. We had a particular quest on our short vacation, but due to a few days of unexpected and unfortunate weather conditions, it looked like it was not to be. Randy, totally unsolicited, went way, way, waaaaaaay beyond his call of duty to personally make sure that our needs were met. It was the highlight of our vacation and we can't say enough about how special it was for him to go out of his way for us like that. That is not just "customer service", that is HOSPITALITY at it's apogee! We give our highest recommendation for the Winterberry B&B and can't wait to return!

I have been traveling to Lake Placid for many years and typically stay in town. This year, traveling for work, I found myself booked out of many of the usual hotels I stay at. Thank goodness the Winterberry was available. I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised when Lisa and Randy (the owners) maintained great communication with me the week leading up to our stay and made sure we had all the information we needed to make our stay seamless! The bed and breakfast itself is cozy, quaint, and everything you might think of when you think "mountain town B&B". The room we stayed in was certainly spacious for two people and everything was pristine, including the private bath attached to our room. Like many B&Bs breakfast was offered and was very delicious! Both the cook and Randy visited with us briefly but left us to enjoy the wonderful breakfasts. The hosts were friendly and helpful without being overattentive. Although the B&B is about a 15-minute walk into town (a less than 5-minute drive) it did not affect the usual feel of our trips and was not an inconvenience at all.

We had a great stay at the Inn. Aggie, the on-site hostess is a doll. She is very knowledgeable about the Lake Placid area went out of her way to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We were traveling with family, and had two rooms. Both rooms were clean, cozy and very comfortable. Each room had a private bath. Aggie prepared a lovely breakfast for us each morning, and we enjoyed meeting the other guests. Overall, a classic B&B experience. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains, which is exactly what we got. Centrally located within walking distance of great hiking, an awesome beach and the town, the apartment, (which photos are not listed on the website), was quiet, very clean and well decorated. Aggie was gracious and helpful, a terrific b and b hostess! When we heard there were no more available rooms in the home itself, we were offered the wonderfully secluded apartment with all the amenities, which was a bargain price! Both of us hope to stay here again! Great trip- thanks Aggie! :) -Hannah and Sandy PS- Aggie is very humble, the apt is gorgeous and she should post photos!
