The Winterberry B&B is quaint and charming village home with 3 guest rooms. It's just a 20 minute walk to downtown Lake Placid. Built in circa 1890, this home has seen many historic events, including the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games held in Lake Placid.

Beautiful interior design – excellently chosen furniture, beautiful and practical, very comfortable bedding, great breakfast, perfect hospitality. For dinner, loads of great restaurants minutes away. And, of course, spectacular scenery all around.

My husband and I just stayed at Winterberry for a few days of hiking. We loved the casual nature of the B&B, the warm reception by our host, and the comfortable home. Our room was large and very comfortable. We loved the ability to open our windows as the weather was crisp and cool at night. The breakfasts were delicious and Aggie our host made sure we did not want for anything. She gave us some great tips of what to see and eat. She also helped me in keeping the bugs at bay by lending me a something for my neck. We thought this was an excellent value and look forward to our return stay!

Quaint, welcoming, comfortable and great conversation ;) Staying with Aggie was like visiting family, except she made a great breakfast for us... Fresh fruit eggs or pancakes, fresh scones, OJ, tea, coffee... Better than home and better than a resto! No muss, no fuss!!

Wonderful B&B just near enough to town to be part of the action & yet far enough away for peace & quiet. It was really hot while we were there...Aggie gave us the choice of rooms, but recommended the coolest/quietest for which we were grateful! Aggie gave us lots of tips of where to go & what to see...the boat trip on Lake Placid was fantastic. She also told us the great places to eat...we had not had a burger since being in the US & she told us that the Dancing Bear took a lot of beating!!
The breakfasts was amazing, different every day, the raspberry pancakes were just the very best.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. Both the B&B and Lake Placid, in fact the whole of the Adironack area far surpassed our expectations.

Amazing breakfasts prepared by Aggie, warm and homey atmosphere with a very friendly dog, whom we enjoyed immensely. Luke LOVED chasing his tennis ball! Loved the location.....easy walking distance to historical downtown Lake Placid. Would love to re-visit someday.

Aggie is a wonderful hostess. We absolutely loved staying here for 4 days. Our room was a super cool "tree house" feel with all the ivy leaves covering our windows. The ceiling fan felt so nice and cool. Her breakfasts meals were outstanding and we just couldn't get enough. We liked the fact that her B&B was not on Main Street with all the people and noise yet it was close enough driving or with a free shuttle. Thank you for the wonderful first experience in Lake Placid
We are going back to her place in August for another 4 days. We highly recommend her place for anyone looking for a small, quiet and intimate place in Lake Placid

We spent 3 nights at Winterberry for a ski trip, and loved it. This is a beautiful home, with comfortable and spotless rooms. We enjoyed cozy nights by the fireplace in the living room, where there is also a TV. Aggie is a wonderful hostess who even brushed the snow off our car in the mornings! Breakfasts of fruit, fresh pastry, and pancakes, French toast or eggs were outstanding. And we couldn't believe that all this was only $90 a night. Winterberry was a great find in Lake Placid, and we will surely be returning.

Our stay at Winterberry B&B was nothing short of excellent.
The B&B is located just a short walk from the Olympic skating venues, Olympic Museum and shops restaurants and activities of main street Lake Placid.
Communication was excellent and the Check in process was quick and seamless. Winterberry is quiet, warm and cozy, and delightfully simple. Everything was clean, well appointed and stocked for guests comfort. But, that's just the building...
Hospitality here is the key. Randy and Lisa are perfect hosts and innkeepers...available when needed, but completely unobtrusive. Randy is a wealth of knowledge about Lake Placid, the Olympics, the Adirondack region and winter sports and outdoor recreation in general.
We had a particular quest on our short vacation, but due to a few days of unexpected and unfortunate weather conditions, it looked like it was not to be. Randy, totally unsolicited, went way, way, waaaaaaay beyond his call of duty to personally make sure that our needs were met. It was the highlight of our vacation and we can't say enough about how special it was for him to go out of his way for us like that. That is not just "customer service", that is HOSPITALITY at it's apogee!
We give our highest recommendation for the Winterberry B&B and can't wait to return!

I have been traveling to Lake Placid for many years and typically stay in town. This year, traveling for work, I found myself booked out of many of the usual hotels I stay at. Thank goodness the Winterberry was available. I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised when Lisa and Randy (the owners) maintained great communication with me the week leading up to our stay and made sure we had all the information we needed to make our stay seamless!
The bed and breakfast itself is cozy, quaint, and everything you might think of when you think "mountain town B&B". The room we stayed in was certainly spacious for two people and everything was pristine, including the private bath attached to our room.
Like many B&Bs breakfast was offered and was very delicious! Both the cook and Randy visited with us briefly but left us to enjoy the wonderful breakfasts. The hosts were friendly and helpful without being overattentive.
Although the B&B is about a 15-minute walk into town (a less than 5-minute drive) it did not affect the usual feel of our trips and was not an inconvenience at all.

My wife & I spent four nights at Winterberry in mid-March, while winter was transitioning to spring in The Adirondacks. The proprietress, Aggie Saunderson, made us feel right at home with free access to the living areas of the two-story house & simple but tasty breakfasts. My wife even got some "doggy time" with Aggie's gentle golden retriever, Luke, whom she keeps separated in her back part of the house. The B&B is on the south edge of town, keeping it isolated from the Main Street crowds but remaining within easy driving or even walking distance of the shops and restaurants as well as the Olympic Center. Aggie is ready to recommend local dining spots to suit your tastes, and the Adirondack Corner Store is just two doors down if you want a delicious deli sandwich or light prepared meal or grocery items to take back to the house. Simple access to NYS Routes 73 (south into Keene Valley & the High Peaks area) and 86 (northeast to Whiteface Mountain & Wilmington) makes for easy and scenic drives to the Winter Olympic sites and to lots of hiking trails of varying difficulties. This was one of the more enjoyable destinations my wife & I have visited, and the Winterberry B&B was an ideal spot from which to explore the area (between naps).
