The Winterberry Inn is my “go-to” home-away-from-Home in Lake Placid, and I’ve stayed there several times now. This very charming B&B is such a comfy place to stay and the attentive hospitality of owners Rand and Lisa is the icing on the cake. The location is also ideal, just 2 minutes drive to the Olympic Training Center and maybe 5 minutes to downtown Lake Placid. Highly recommend!
The Winterberry B&B is exactly the kind of place I wanted to stay while showing a friend Lake Placid. The entire place is so cozy and welcoming, it didn't feel like I was staying somewhere unfamiliar- it felt like I was visiting family. The fire place and couch made the perfect hangout area to enjoy a cup of tea while planning our next adventure for the day. The Whiteface room was incredibly spacious, with a large private bathroom that had more than enough room for two adults to get ready in. Every area of the B&B- both private rooms and community spaces- were incredibly clean. Randy and Lisa couldn't be more perfect hosts. The two could tell you every trail, peak, restaurant... ANYTHING you need or want to know about Lake Placid. Even if you aren't big into taking 4 hour hikes through one of the 46 high peaks, they can be sure to tell you where to go to see amazing views of the town and nature! Their knowledge of the town and things to do is just one thing that made our stay incredible. The hot breakfast that they prepared was an unexpected touch to the weekend. From the freshly cut fruit to the warm fluffy pancakes, it was so nice to not have to spend more money on a breakfast and coffee in town. Plus, the home-made almond poppyseed loaf was to die for! We arrived late Friday night, and the check-in process was quick, easy, and self-sufficient. I was worried about needing assistance but Randy has thought everything through to make sure that your stay, from start to finish, will be seamless. Randy and Lisa go above and beyond making sure your stay is perfect. Needless to say, this will be the only place I stay when returning to the most adorable town on the East Coast!…
Seb and I had wonderful stay at winterberry! Everything was clean and fresh. We stayed in the Olympics room, and it was perfect for our quick get away. Randy was easy to deal with, super friendly, and had some great hiking tips. We'll be back!
We stayed at Winterberry for a week at the end of May. It is a great place to stay. Clean and comfortable with all that you need. Randy is so welcoming, giving great info about the local area and even joined us for a drink one evening. Lake Placid is a fantastic area to visit. Scenery is breath taking and there lots to do. Walking, canoeing, lake cruises, olympics facilites to visit and the village centre is pretty. We found good places to eat and enjoy a drink. The walk into the village centre was a bit longer than we had anticipated but there is a local bus service that stops at the end of the road so that is easily remedied. Would we return? Yes we definitely would! Hope to see you again in the future.
The Winterberry B&B is such a gem. It's a warm, old-fashioned and cozy home away from home. I stayed for a week here while my 13-year-old son was in an olympic camp here, and it was an absolutely wonderful place. The owner (Randy) was a great host and then some. I felt like an old friend pretty much from day one. The location is ideal, just a 5-minute walk to the Olympic Training Center, and a 2-minute drive to Lake Placid Main St. I'm going to have to figure out a way to travel back here again soon!
