I’ve been in the hotel for the NYE with my wife and the hotel was not ready to the enormous crowds, the hotel staff was impeccable and very friendly, good rustic hotel. We noticed right at the arrival that our room was not ready (apparently the checkout is at 2pm),several parts of the hotel were in maintenance (this should be done months in advance), there was a kind of disrespect with the guests, there was an Karaoke till late night and open to everyone and some guests us including we were kind of uncomfortable with the in and out and the noise etc. open Wi-Fi to outsiders which resulted in bad signal for the guests, I think for next year the hotel should prepare better to receive it’s guests. Not happy at all, lot of improvements is need here.
My Spouse and I stayed at Cafe Central during the weekend. Although the Island is very calm due to COVID19 we had a nice intimate moment, vows renewed. Tidy bedrooms, clean swimming pool and nice staff staff atendance. Recomended
Nice central location, friendly and helpful staff. We liked our stay here a lot. We had booked a double room, but they kindly upgraded us to a nicer twin room as there were not many guests in the end of January. To be honest, when we saw the ordinary double rooms on a lower floor, we would not have enjoyed staying there so much. Some of the rooms on the ground floor look very dark. Pool looked nice, but we didn't try swimming. Wifi and air conditioning worked OK. Breakfast is nice, it's just a bit slow to arrive. They kindly lent us bicycles for exploring the small island, and one of the staff also arranged a chapa to pick us up on its way from the island to Nampula. Most guests seem to arrange taxis, but you can get a chapa, if you ask in good time. (The chapa trip took a long time, and one of the tyres in it broke, but we had planned a lot of time for the trip before our flight, so all in all it was OK.) We can recommend this friendly hotel to everyone, just try to check that your room won't be one of the dark ground floor rooms.…
We had an excellent stay in his hotel. We loved the pool and jacuzi and roof deck. Saulos was anot amazing host and everything was well managed. I would recommend this hotel to any travellers going to Ilha
I post honest reviews about our experience so here’s both good and bad things: Pros: Pool-Beautiful! Recently finished I think and totally stunning, especially the flowers around it! Breakfast- Fruit, cereal, bread and your choice of eggs with tea or coffee and juice. Filing! Location-perfect for everything! Staff-perfectly friendly! Manager was Brilliant, super helpful with all our questions!! Wifi-fast Hot water ✅ Aircon ✅ Tv, mozzi net, fridge and kettle in our room. Cons: Building work-Didn’t really bother us! Will be beautiful when fully finished! Breakfast-if staying for a length of time I imagine it would get a tad repetitive! Dinner- Menu isn’t very big and similar prices to other restaurants in the area with rooftops and ocean views so we chose not to eat here in the evening. Overall I would 100% stay here again and fully recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful island! …
Café Central is located in the middle of everything you wanna be close to on Ilha de Moçambique, and one of very few midrange boutique hotels around - most of the other nice looking places on the island are super expensive and probably not that much better, especially if all you want to do is explore the island. We had the large studio apartment room which had very nice interiors and could actually host a whole family. You can hear local life from the street below, which made for a great atmosphere. We loved that they are using local materials and techniques to conserve the stone town building, and while not everything may be perfect, the local manager and staff try their best to make you happy, just talk to them about your needs. When the driver we had arranged didn't arrive to pick us up in Nampula, they acted very quickly to organize a replacement. We also learned a whole lot about this beautiful but complicated country from Agostinho the manager when he kindly agreed to take us to our next destination to make sure we got there safely. Thank you so much!…
Positive: - excellent location for exploring - good mattress - swimming pool - clean - mosquito nets - quirky place with beautiful little staircases Can be improved - attention for guests at breakfast (takes rather long to get the simple breakfast) - noise from water pump and building works
I like the Hotel for it`s Good location. just few steps from Museum, church, restaurants, Fortress, Beach etc. the Room was Clean, tidy and the shower was Fine. breakfast was also nice I recommend this Hotel
I had a lovely time at Cafe Central. They were very accommodating picking me up in Nampula and driving me back to the airport. There was no works in the building when I stayed there so it was quiet. It is the perfect place to stay at to discover Ilha; great location and very helpful staff. My room was pretty small but I did not mind - the only issues for me were that the door did not close properly and the window did not shut so lots of mosquitoes at night and sunlight early in the morning. And the wifi did not work in my room but was working well in reception area. Hot water and A/C worked fined and breakfast was very tasty. The pool is very nice to relax after a long day walking around the island! To sum up this is a great place where I would definitely stay again !
We have been staying in Café Central for 1 week. The only positive thing was the great location in the Stone town near the restaurants on the North of the Island. The building and the reception-bar area are nice. Negative points: - the staff wasn't friendly, except a couple of people, the rest was serious, above all the women who serve the breakfast, no smile at all. They look very tired and demotivated all the time. - the same breakfast during 7 days, juice, some yogurt and cereals, toasts with butter and eggs, eggs and eggs...no more option. IMPORTANT: take your time to have your breakfast, at least it takes 1 hour. - Works and noise in the building, and not far away as I have read in another review. Forget to rest from 7.30 till 15.30, to much noise due to the works, at least from our room Nº4. We complained about it, they should notify of the works to the guests when booking are made. - room was correct, but a lot of water came in when it rained. - we didn't sleep well because of the noise, but as well because they have a dog "chu" inside the building and about 4..5..6 a.m. is barking, finally...one morning around 6 a.m. we were awakened by one of the staff cutting branches of a palm tree on top of our roof....The team are not aware of the inconvenienced caused to the guests The price is good compared to other accomodations in the island, BUT I would have paid more money for a more confortable and pleasant stay. Maybe for 2 nights was ok but 1 week was really hard. If they improve their way of managing the establishment, I am sure Café Central could be a good place to stay in the future.…
