A Secret Garden is a true guest house; traditional and warm. Our spacious, south-facing rooms offer ample natural light and private balconies from which you can enjoy views of the beautiful Todgha Gorges and the river gardens below. Built in 2017 from only natural materials like bricks, lime, earth and straw, our house is comfortable and ecologically conscious. Hot water is serviced by solar panels and, thanks for the generous North African sun, is readily available. Our peaceful, shaded garden welcomes you for moments of rest. In it we grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruit trees. We serve home-cooked meals made with fresh, simple, carefully-chosen ingredients--some of which are grown in our own garden. The house is located at the entrance of the Todgha gorges in a quiet setting at the edge of the river gardens. From your base at A Secret Garden, enjoy world class climbing just a short walk away or limitless opportunities for mountaineering hiking, walking, or horse riding. Our company, Aventures Verticales Maroc, is the only qualified mountain sports guiding company in the gorges and we look forward to accompanying you on your next adventure!

We stayed for 4 nights in a lovely double room with balcony and en suite facilities. The delightful view included the eponymous garden, irrigated fields, date palms, the local kasbah and the surrounding terra cotta coloured rocky hills. Dining was alfresco - a warm jacket was nice - around a large table with other guests and Natalie and Dan, proprietors. Natalie cooks the dinner, which consisted of traditional Moroccan food and she also makes packed lunch for people who are out for the day climbing, walking or sight-seeing. The Todra Gorge, a tourist attraction and excellent climbing venue, is literally just around the corner. Apart from climbing (Dan is a climbing guide and can provide guiding services from novice to expert), the Gorge is an impressive feature and is complete with roadside market stalls and some pleasant cafes. In addition Natalie has many links which means she can arrange your complete holiday for you if you so desire. Indeed, she did this for us and we had a very memorable ten days.

A Secret Garden is a must-visit if you are looking to climb in Morocco! I stayed here two nights and it was even better than I had hoped. I came through Todra Gorge on a two-week tour of Morocco with a group, but wasn't able to stay more than a few hours. As we walked through the gorge, I was kicking myself for not bringing gear and left wondering when I could make it back. A few days opened up in my work-trip and I reached out to Natalie and Dan (who are running the place for Julio). They were SO helpful in fitting me in. Since they were fully booked my first night, I took up their offer to sleep under the stars on their terrace. The weather was crisp and the stars were beautiful. I spent the next day climbing with Dan who is the only internationally certified climbing guide in Morocco. He adapts to all levels, and knows all the best places to climb (Julio literally wrote the book). Natalie is also an amazing host and person! I did sunrise yoga with her and some other guests and even though that isn't normally my thing, I would 100% recommend. She knows her stuff! Outside of the climbing, the service, and the location, Dan and Natalie are just good people. This, for me, makes all the difference when traveling. Definitely one of my Morocco highlights so far!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our guest house and that the acting managers were accommodating to you. In fact it's not true that Dan is the only certified climbing guide in Morocco (there are other individuals, including Julio, in the gorges, and of course many climbing guides farther afield in Morocco), but nevertheless we're glad you enjoyed your climbing with him.

My 5 days stay at A secret garden was absolutely fantastic, not only thanks to this cosy, nice and super clean house with a magnificent terrace and view, but also thanks to the kindness, availability and hospitality of the hosts, who made me feel like at home. It was also great to share delicious and generous dinners and breakfasts in the large table with them and the other guests! I recommend a 100%!

The hotel is a bit off the main road. Park the car / motorcycle at the parking lot at the main road, from there it's a short walk down to the hotel. The location is close to the narrow part of the Todra Gorge. Very quiet. Very nice rooms & views. The English couple Natalie & Daniel was very welcoming. Good dinner with the other guests. Really enjoyed our stay here.

When I booked Secret garden, I was expecting to simply stay there, and from there on out to go climbing, but we got so much more. We had great conversations, fantastic food, a real home-like atmosphere and we also met other great people, we really did not want to leave once our time there was done. If you are a climber or a lover of the outdoors, like to meet and chat with other like-minded people and just enjoy life, this is the place for you! Julio really does a great job and you can see that he just loves what he is doing it is really a lot more than simply a job, it is a lifestyle!
