Okay well the location is absolutely ideal however because the staff were so unprofessional and rude being stuck in the middle of nowhere and wanting to leave as soon as you can made the location awful for us. Waiting for over an hour for cold food was not a good start. The the manager waited for the main course to be served to tell us that the form we completed on arrival was not filled in correctly. When you compare the level of service you generally get in Morroco to service the manager provided it was shocking. With the right management onsite this place would be amazing. The master bedroom had a good bed but the 2 single beds had cheap and stained mattresses. The floor in the room was filthy and the fire in bedroom did not work. Such a shame for the staff as they work very hard but they need a manager that can lead by example and resolve issues not making problems worse. I refused to pay for dinner and had further disputes with the manager after waiting for him to get up and having to argue with him about the late and cold dinner experience. I have the whole dinner experience on video. The manager did not even have a wash or brush his teeth in the morning which was pretty gross and summed up the whole experience for us. We could not wait to leave.

Amazing location. They built a hotel all alone on a hillside in the middle of Todra Gorge. Quiet, stunningly beautiful, and completely off the grid (solar power only, a bit of slow wifi available via satellite). Food is fine, which is good because there's nothing else around! But other than location, it's just quirky. New, but built to look like a castle (not a classic moroccan riad). Their premium rooms are "caves", which means they are built/plastered to look like they scooped a hole into the hillside (couldn't tell if they really did or if it was just built that way on the hillside). Interesting, but it really just makes it kinda stuffy with no light or airflow.

The setting is very special in the Todra Gorge. Enjoy the starry sky. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. Our room was in a cave. If you are at all claustrophobic, ask for a room that is not in a cave. There was no air circulation. The rooms are very unique with attention to being eco friendly. You do not come here for the food. Meh.

This was one of the best places we stayed in Morocco. The unique cave room was gorgeous and the terrace a great place to watch the colours change on the surrounding rock walls at sunset. We had one of our best meals in Morocco here (including the best chocolate mousse). Despite the out of the way location and only solar power, still had good wifi in the reception and terrace area. Lovely staff.
