We were a group of friends who had come for dinner to celebrate one of our friend's birthday. We got a reservation in an almost private area near the gift shop, and the set up and the environment was serene.

Vincent was the one attending to us and he went out of his way to offer very personalized service and made the day special. Thank you for the excellent work! We definitely will be back.

The place is located in the leafy suburb area of Limuru, very cool environment, in the cold season it can be very cold at night. They have plenty of lawns and gardens that are very well manicured, makes the environment ideal for relaxation or a getaway :)

Brackenhurst is a wonderful place to visit, and with its close proximity to Nairobi, it makes for a pleasant weekend treat - the forest walk, the tea farms, and the general beauty and serenity of the surroundings are great. The factor that put a massive cloud in our experience was the astonishingly awful service in the restaurant. After being sat down, we waited more than 40 minutes for a waiter to take our orders. Seeing that they were not coming, we opted to go to the counter and give them our orders. We then waited another hour for our food and drinks, but nothing came, after which we decided to leave. We found this shocking especially considering that 1) they are a conference centre (and should therefore have good, if not superb service) and 2) they were not at all busy. I would still personally recommend going to enjoy the tea farms and the forest walk, but I would not at all recommend using the restaurant at Brackenhurst.

Response from Owner Manager, General Manager at Brackenhurst Hotel & Conference Centre

Thank you for your review. I am sorry about the poor service received at our restaurant. We always want every guest to have an amazing experience and want nothing to take away from time spent here. We offer no excuses on the poor service other than to say it has been difficult to know how many guests we may have on a certain day. Your visit coincided with our reopening after being closed for a number of weeks due to COVID. We were surprised how many came to visit, especially with a roadblock still in place. Please accept our apologies and we definitely would welcome any other comments you may want to share. You can reach us at feedback@brackenhurst.com.

The setting is incredible for a day visit or meal -- the grounds, the forest, and the tea fields are beautiful and the cafe (Muna Tree) serves great food. The standard rooms are very basic and small, so if you stay overnight, know that you are paying for the setting. I was disappointed by the dip in my mattress, old windows without screens, and showerhead that sprayed everywhere but down. Also a bit sad to find that there is no alcohol to enjoy after a long day of hiking or biking, although the delicious juices were a pretty good substitute.

Visited for a few days honeymoon. The place is the most serene for any couple or individual wanting some quality uninterrupted time.
The staff right from the gate to the reception ( Maurine & Esther) are epitome of true right customer service.
The Chef (Joseph Omondi) is very kind very punctual tell him to bring breakfast at 8:07 and right at 8:07 he will be there. His food is so yummy and his attitude to clients just on another level he just sets the appetite right. He even goes ahead and asks you if there is a particular meal you would want to enjoy before end of your stay there. And you ask for it you get it.
The hotel has also put measures to curb Covid 19 which were strictly followed.
In the evenings the fire at the fire place was just wonderful
The forest walks and tea plantation walks are ideal for bonding and quality time.
I would definitely come back to Brackenhust Limuru. Our experience was awesome.

First off - try their brownies! Best ever! I wish they didn't use the cheap Chinese-imported tilapia fish and their pizzas can sometimes be quite bland. Staff is well trained and maintain a decent level of service. This is an excellent place to visit if you're in the Limuru area. It's fresh and green. The coffee and desserts are spot on. In general, Brackenhurst is a great service to the local community and is a great day trip for anyone that wants to leave the bustle of Nairobi for a few hours. Note to management: your surcharges for take away containers are very high.

We visited Brackenhurst on a Saturday morning around 10.30 and had the place to ourselves. We were warmly welcomed at Reception and enjoyed the Lower Forest walk which cost 200ksh each. It’s a nice amble for most ages and abilities, with indigenous trees and flowers, spotting Sykes Monkeys, birds and a pretty little waterfall! Lunch at the Muna Tree Cafe, the pizza was really good with lots of variety on the menu. Beautiful setting in lovely gardens and well worth a visit!

I have stayed at Brackenhurst a few times (my first visit being in 2018) and I am consistently impressed by the friendly, quality service. My recent stay here in October 2022 has been delightful - the staff are professional and even remembered me by name, despite my last visit being in 2019. The dining hall is amazing at catering for special requests (I have an egg allergy) and always has fresh, delicious and tasty salads on offer, along with a variety of options. It is often very difficult to find healthy, nutritious options in buffet-style dining — not so at Brackenhurst.
The room I most recently stayed in was equipped with a fireplace, a comfortable bed and a wonderfully hot shower, as well as a private patio where I could relax and read my book. Brackenhurst is really an oasis within the hustle and bustle of the area and I would highly recommend staying here.

The facility appears to be understaffed. There is no variety in the food offered in the buffet, and the food offered is genuinely flat, not tasty at all. Our bathroom wasn't cleaned during our stay, despite the fact that room service came in. They also don't offer any beverages or hot water inside the rooms, which is a bit strange considering the facility is in a cold place. There are no children friendly activities at all. Overall my experience was underwhelming. I don't recommend Brackenhurst for family staycations

The location is very lush and beautiful, a nature lover's dream... The amenities are acceptable, had some issues with hot water but the issue was resolved immediately after reporting. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and there are several things to do and areas to relax and perhaps enjoy a good book or conversation.

if you are looking for some peace and quite with a healing and rejuvenating environment Brackenhurst is ideal.

Food is great and location is wonderful with access to great walks and the little forest across the road. However the rooms are tired and dirty and really need some love. Our mattress sagged in the middle. They use multiple horrible blankets to keep off the cold which is heavy and uncomfortable rather than a more modern duvet where the duvet cover can be washed with every guest. Hot water bottles are also a nice touch but I wonder if the covers get washed between guests… Please get rid of the blankets!

Some rooms do get WiFi but not all. Definitely worth getting a local Safaricom sim card, purchasing airtime & converting to data bundles. There is a Safaricom stand at the airport and most shopping malls have a Safaricom Care Centre.
