Stayed for 10 days, right on the beach. BUT, no businesses take cards, so you have an £8 cab ride to the nearest cashpoint. I had my tablet stolen from my locked apartment within 2 days and management did nothing, then I discovered my fridge, hotplate and TV didn't work - management did nothing. Make your own choice.

The plus points are that the hotel is directly on the beach and has it's own bar and restaurant and a nice clean looking swimming pool and terrace. The not so good parts, the whole complex is extremely run down and in desperate need of renovation, rooms/apartments are quite small although do have seating area found an insect in my fridge. The ac comes at an extra charge of 700 dl (£10) per day, so quite expensive if staying 2 weeks and a safe deposit box 500 dl per week. I enquired about beach towels before arriving and was told they could be hired at the beach, not so, the sunbed lads said they stopped doing that about a year ago. Fortunately on of the lovely ladies in the restaurant fixed a towel for me. The staff here are great and very helpful, the food in the restaurant isn't very inspiring in presentation or taste but serves a purpose if you don't want to leave the complex.

The hotel was fine. With sea view. Had a good stay. At the beach a lot of juice (wo)men want to sell you juices. At one of them, Ebrima Bojang, we booked a 2 day private tour to Georgetown. He was less pushy than the rest and we had nice conversations with him. He arranged everything perfectly. Saw chimpansees, baboons and hippos as well as culture: aot Stone circles, Slavery houses and the beautiful landscapes of the inlands. He is a great storyteller and offered us 2 special days! Highly recommended! You can find him at the beach when he is not on tour. His phone number is +220 731 1840.

This is a lovely hotel, the gardens are kept well as is the pool area and the apartments are spacious and well kept. My room afforded me a lovely view of the beach. Negatives - breakfast - why don't the staff write down people's orders? Out of 7 breakfasts I think I only got exactly what I wanted on one occasion. Eggs - either underdone or overdone; bacon cremated; toast - warm bread. Breakfast was often barely warm. I asked for a second cup of tea one morning and was charged extra for it!! As a result of the poor breakfasts I did not eat an evening meal at the hotel. Sunbeds - disappointed that they charged for these on the beach - particularly as bars up and down the beach offered free sunbeds. I had a beer one day on the beach and it was almost double of the bars alongside the hotel. Had this been a 5 star hotel I would have expected such a high price but it isn't! Positives - the staff were in the main, lovely. one or two of the breakfast staff could have been a bit more cheerful!! Lamin, who cleaned my room was always ready with a smile. I will stay at this hotel again, but will choose the self-catering breakfast next time

It was a nice, very basic hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. You can also exchange euros to local currency at a decent rate at the reception of the hotel. There's a bar by the beach which has comfy furniture and friendly staff serving you deinks and snacks. The sunbeds can be rented against a small fee for the entire day. Also, there's a little mini market on the hotel premises from where one can buy water, beverages, alcohol and other items. A warm recommendation. There were also different shows at the hotel's outdoor restaurant every night. Unfortunately they all included the performers circulating around the tables asking for donations, at least once during the performance. The thing I wasn't so fond off was the constant selling and trying to get you to buy stuff. We ate twice at the restaurant and on both occasions the waiters asked/ informed us that if we were planning a trip to see monkeys/ snakes/ birds etc. The waiter was the man we should talk to, he'd arrange everything, in exchange for a commission of course.

We were originally booked elsewhere with Thomas Cook but after they went bust we booked seperate flights and then Bungalow Beach Hotel through booking.com.We asked for a ground floor room and if breakfast was included and emailed the hotel to make sure. We arrived in the early hours (2am) and at reception were told we had an upstairs room only and no record of our email,we were also asked for £100 deposit there and then.We paid the deposit and the first thing next morning went to reception about the room and Lamin was very helpful and gave us the ground floor room and the deposit back. We understood that the breakfast was fresh bread each day and a breakfast pack on arrival consisting of coffee, butter, sugar, jam, milk, juice but we were told no we had breakfast in the restaurant where there were 6 choices mainly eggs, eggs and more eggs.Well I like eggs but the ommlettes were enormous and there was a lot of bacon but it was all fat and cremated and the toast wasn't toasted but just a couple of slices of warm bread,so after the first week we asked to change and have the breakfast pack and bread. The hotel was quiet and a lot of empty rooms, some were being decorated and were having some new furniture. The rooms were plenty big enough with small kitchenette and most items in the cupboard that you need,a fridge,tv,settee, chair, coffee table, dining table and chairs plus table and chairs outside.Bed was okay with quilts on,bedding was changed alternate days and towels daily but they do not provide beach/pool towels.Shower was fine and plenty of hot water. Gardens are kept lovely and tidy, sunbeds around the swimming pool. They have a restaurant but we didn't eat there in the evening and I think several evenings they had entertainment on. It's a nice quiet hotel with self catering if you want, they have a small shop on site. It's right on the beach and the staff were friendly and helpful.

BB hotel was perfect. A stone's throw from the beach. Amazing staff, you can ask for anything and I'm pretty sure they'll try to get it for you. I had the best tour guide Del Boy, very knowledgeable, polite and again nothing was too much trouble. You can find him in the Kotu area if he's not on a tour. Can't wait to go back...

Stayed here in March 2018 , and will be back. Lovely hotel, very clean, friendly staff and the hotel cats all well cared for, and right on the beach, perfect. Have travelled many times to The Gambia and stayed in lots of hotels, this is the best so far, and good value.
