I arrived at Maribela for the Ethiopian Easter and the place was such a heaven on earth. I really had no expectations but if I would have had any, Maribela would have exceeded them all! The view from the rooms is just breathtaking and the rooms are big and beautifully decorated. You really could not ask for more. I ate dinner, lunch and breakfast at the hotel and the food is excellent. During the day time, it is lovely to sit in the garden and eat. The staff is super friendly and always ready to help you with anything you might have. Also, the location of the hotel is just perfect. It is just a walking distance from everything. If I was to go back to Lalibela, I would for sure stay at Maribela again.

My family was totally surprised when we arrived at the Maribela. We never expected such a great room and view. The room was very comfortable, clean, and large. The view from the room was breathtaking. The food at the hotel was probably the best we had while in Ethiopia. The staff was very attentive. Thanks to Gizachw, he made our experience most memorable. You can't beat this hotel. The location is ideal for everything. My family and I enjoyed our stay very much.

Wow. This hotel boasts a beautiful location, and everything about it is top notch. I knew at the entrance by the street that I was going to love it. They have take great care to create a lush and decorative atmosphere that captures the local charm of Lalibela, while also providing first rate comforts. The entire property is bright and cheerful, with many plants, flowers, and art. There is great attention to detail. Every time I turned my head, something else caught my attention, right down to the coffee tables in the lobby containing local seeds beneath the glass top. I ate at the hotel’s restaurant numerous times, and the food was always excellent. There is a nice selection on the menu, and the chef does a great job. The hotel also offers a complimentary coffee ceremony for its guests! We did this twice, both in the evenings, and it was a great way to wind down the day— fresh air, a bonfire, and crickets chirping while enjoying delicious Ethiopian coffee. The rooms are large and airy with high ceilings. The decor is great— I don’t know how best to put it other than to say the room was just really, really pretty. There is a tea kettle with complimentary Ethiopian tea. The shower is great- hot water and good water pressure! There is a large balcony with nice sitting area, looking out over views which could pass for heaven. All these things already make for an outstanding stay. But what puts this hotel over the top in the “outstanding” category is the staff. The people could not have been nicer, and always so eager to help. The service could match up with any international 5 star standards I’ve experienced. They go above and beyond to give you the most memorable stay ever, all while making you feel like family. Thank you, Maribela, for a wonderful stay. I hope to return one day.

I am the type that scarcely pens down reviews however I can't stop showering this hotel as well as its entire staff with praises .From the moment I got off the plane , the owners who are this lovely couple assured that I was picked up from the airport by the hotel shuttle that came complementary with a fantastic knowledgeable tour guide .Upon arrival on premises I was welcomed with spicy tea as well as home- made pressed fruit juice .My room was immaculately designed with rose petals that adorned the large well lit room .The furniture was emblematic of the region. The furniture screamed excellent craftsmanship with all the intricate patterns and designs. The most enchanting view was the suspended balcony that revealed a 360 view of the lush green valley !!! What a sight of tranquility i long lunged for ..... I spent most of my early mornings as well as sunsets just taking in those views. The staff , I cant emphasis any further . They were outstanding. They went above and beyond my expectations .The rooms were cleaned every morning , the shower had hot water running all through the day , the beds were the most comfy i slept on in Ethiopia, literally!!! The Restaurant served delicious dishes of both local as well as European meals , the evening burn fires were to die for lol I can't praise this facility enough. And to close this , please do not hesitate to visit The sister lodge ie LALIBELA HUDAD which is a 2 hours trek above the mountain .Finally i can't emphasis this point enough ie the owner as well as his family are an adorable bunch .Thanks for the immeasurable hospitality .I surely will be back in December,!!
