Fantastic view , very friendly competent staff, strictly enforced rules not allowing outsiders into the hotel which is very challenging considering the enviroment. Delicious food which is a miracle as raw materials are scarce. Clean bathrooms , hot water, functioning toilet , all extremely rare in Ethiopia.

Though this may not be a globally 5-star hotel, it's definitely 5-star for Lalibela. Amazing views from the rooms, all with their own private balconies. Very pleasant restaurant / lounge / garden area too. Staff were nice and helpful. Had a very nice couple days here.

The best you can hope for in Lalibela until they would admit foreign investments and better run hotels. The view is great and we wake up every morning with birds chirping and sun filled in our rooms. The curtains are thin if you are light sensitive! The rooms and restaurant are clean and staff friendly. Good place to "relax" as...

We spent 2 nights here while visiting the wonderful rock hewn churches of Lalibela. The hotel is excellent. Spotlessly clean - rooms are just fine but the view!! Your private deck with great seating looks out over the most amazing view complete with sunset. The restaurant is very good - complete with special coffee service. We ate 1 night at...

We really enjoyed our stay here. It had hot water which made me very happy. The rooms were spacious and clean and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the valley. They were all very anxious that we have a pleasant stay. On the street outside the hotel the locals are very friendly and the high school age kids are most...

I was at the Maribela for two nights while visiting the rock churches in Lalibela and enjoyed stunning views and beautifully appointed hotel rooms. The views from the breakfast room and the garden outside the hotel were colorful and lush. Great bird watching! Coffee ceremony in the dining room was very lovely, too.

We had an excellent stay here for 3 nights. Incredible views, comfortable rooms, very helpful staff. And the food was the best we had in our month in Ethiopia! But the prices of some of the mains in the restaurant are higher compared to other good local options (although in dollar terms the differences are not much). A tip: Do...

I can't say enough good things about the Maribela hotel, its wonderful owner, Mikias, his charming wife, and the incredibly attentive and helpful staff. While unfortunately only a short visit to Lalibela, I was unquestionably satisfied with my stay. Mikias and co. went above and beyond to make accommodations and to ensure I was well taken care of throughout my...

We stayed two nights at this small, boutique hotel. It is simple and clean. The views from the balcony are stunning. The rooms are quaint and decorated with local wood and leather furniture. There is no a/c but it was not necessary in late January beginning of February, during our visit. The included breakfast was very good. Coffee was excellent....
