I stayed here for a couple of days with a tour group. The rooms are spacious and attractive, with huge beds, and balconies with magnificent views - especially when we had thunderstorms. Some of the food was a bit quirky. At dinner I didn't want to eat meat and the only

It’s easy to see why The Telegraph rates the Maribela hotel as the best in Lalibela. Staff were welcoming, polite and nothing was too much trouble. Also, the restaurant served a good variety of well cooked food. My spacious room, with its four poster bed, contained beautiful

I visited Lalibela this month with my wife and Maribela has been one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in the “Superior Suite” which is, I’m told, the largest room in the hotel, and newly built. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a sleeping space on one side

This is a delightful place to stay & one of the best in Lalibela. On top of one of the many hills with spectacular views down the valley. It is a nicely furnished hotel. The rooms are large and have a big patio with great views and facing west for great sunsets. I had a huge

We really enjoyed this place. I have to say, although lots of transactions are carried out this way, I was a bit apprehensive about paying for the room on PayPal (1138 Data LLC) and although we felt it was a bit of a gamble, it was totally legit. We also paid for our three day

I agree with my Aussie traveler... I had personal transport so didn't take a taxi... but travel is easy in Lalibela.

I emailed them, and got a response right away. I didn't immediately trust that the place would be booked (the email was like, "Great! We have you down for that date"), so I called as well, but got essentially the same reassurance. But we had absolutely no problems... they had someone get us from the airport, had pre-arranged a guide, and had a lovely room waiting for us. (Sorry for the late response.)

Hi - we only paid c$100 per night for a double room but there were extenuating circumstances. Firstly we were there in May which is low season so it wasn't full and secondly we arranged it through the charity we were visiting so we may have got a better rate (I'm not sure). c$150 would seem fine but $250 does seem rather a lot. By the way, when we went, and we really liked the hotel, they would only take cash not cards as the system connection for the payment terminal was very intermittent. hope this helps
