Wonderful reception by the owner Eileen. She was always present to ensure everything was meeting our needs. The lodges are well appointed and very comfortable & quiet. The location is stunning with only a 100m walk to the waters edge. The food was homely and plenty of it. We took a morning & afternoon boat trip to go birding. Our guide Otto was first class with a superb knowledge of the local birds. His main trick was to tempt the fish eagles out of their trees to swop and catch some fish. The gardens are extensive and very well kept. There is a pleasant pool to relax by. In addition the bird life in the garden is abundant. There is also the added attraction of the reedbuck that roam the gardens. Cannot recommend this property highly enough. John and Chris Cheesbrough
There is something else other than fishing and birding going on here. Very spread out, easy to access with 2wd sedan. There seems to be an eye for detail on how the camp has been laid out. Camping is with huge stands under shaded trees. Staff very friendly and knowledgable. Night guard, but not sure why it’s needed - but nice. He (Peter) stopped by the fireside occasionally before continuing his nightly activities. Had a great boat ride with Motura, and saw en enormous croc with its mouth wide open on the river bank. Great pics. Also Otto was super helpful as was the rest of the staff. Can highly recommend staying here.
This lunch stop was arranged by our guides, we had come to see Pels Fish Owl which roosts nearby. Our lunch was Fish & Beef, salads and veggies and a delicious cheesecake. The lady that owns this property was very attentive and made us very welcome. The grounds are beautiful and we wandered around birding before our trip on the river. Lots of butterflies in the garden and the pool looked very inviting on a hot day. Free WiFi. Recommended.
Camp site no 3. Beautiful big trees in our camp site. Naughty little monkeys live in the beautiful big trees! The ablutions block is clean, electricity ensures that there is plenty of hot water The ambiance, all the staff, the entire setting of Drotskys is fantastic. The deck overlooking the river is tastefully set up. There is a beautiful riverine forest walk to the main lodge where there is WiFi. We simply loved this whole place and would by pass the camping and book into the lodge next time. It is run with precision, the gardens are something to be seen, there’s a lovely swimming pool. Bird life is abundant and this is a wonderful place to getaway to! Could have spent far more time here!
We spent 2 nights camping at Drotsky's. Great resort with friendly and efficient staff. We loved the bird life and the river cruise, spotting wildlife and doing a little fishing. Just be aware of monkeys frequenting the campsites.
We had the most fun camping at Drotsky's Great ablution block and campsites shady and alive with birds..and monkeys The trip on the Okavango river with Holly was a treat and birding was fantastic. Would certainly return and make sure that we experience their great privileged surrounding again
very comfortable, spacious, well equipped and nice chalets along the Okavango river. stunning atmosphere for sun set cruises. helpful and service minded staff. the pool and gardens are gorgeous and worthwhile to spend a couple of hours
We stayed at campsite 11 which was big, shaded, right on the river, close to communal ablutions with a tap, bin, light, power socket and braai but the monkeys are a problem and robbed us even when we were careful so bring a catty or a tazer (the noise keeps them away). They offer tiger fishing at P275 p/hr plus P100 per rod. They charge you fuel in addition to that. They gave us each 1 rupala - my boyfriends' seemed too heavy and dragged low catching reeds and grass constantly. Mine was good but was completely eaten by a tiger fish in the first hour. They had no spare rupala's for us or bait so I couldn't fish after that - I expected spares or bait or a reduced charge since I couldn't actually fish during this pay per hour fishing trip. I think the quantity of fish is good, just rather bring your own gear to save money and have a better experience. Our guide included a bit of a safari on our fishing trip which we greatly appreciated seeing crocodile, buffalo and Pel's fishing owl. He also searched for sitatunga. We recommend a boat trip in addition to one at Chobe Safari Lodge if doing that route. They have a well-stocked bar.…
It was fantastic camping here It felt like a birding paradise Yes..... the fishing owls are there The camping sites were big and far apart from each other All the facilities of the lodge is open for the campers .We have been on this part of the river before but the guide on boat trip were very good and made it educational for our children. We would stay here a little longer next time
The camp sites are fantastic and all have grass and river views. Boat trips are available and highly recommended, as are the meals at the main lodge. The parks in the Caprivi are easily accessible and also highly recommended
