My family and I stayed at the Sundowner last year and had a pleasant time. It is an old motel but on the lake, convenient and affordable. We knew what we were getting into and certainly did not expect anything fancy. Upon checking in however,...More
The first room we checked into had what appeared to be bodily fluid stains on the bedding (see picture) and something nasty on the lamp shade. The floor by night stand was dirty. They refused to give us our money back. They showed us another...More
WAY OVERPRICED. Very simple place. Toilet ran all night. Staff was nice and tried to accommodate where needed. would not stay here again. Would look for something that was better priced or get more for what you are paying for
The room was a bit out dated but clean. Staff was accommodating and friendly. The pool and hot tub were clean and open during posted hours. The beachfront area was clean and offered kayaks and boats. Our family had a wonderful time and would definitely...More
Room was filthy...in a state of general disrepair. Office staff and maid were accommodating. Nice sandy beach but fenced in on both sides. Site manager was quite difficult. Would not book this property again.

You would have to go beyond the ropes in order to swim, since the water is only 1 - 2 feet deep within the confines of the rope. I think the rope is only there to mark the private area of the lake belonging to the motel, and to prevent small children from venturing too far into the water. The lake gradually gets deeper, but you can probably go at least 100 yards off shore and still be able to stand. Once you go beyond the rope you've got the whole, big beautiful lake to swim in and enjoy!
