The reason I am writing a review is because when I was researching hotels to stay at in Lake George, NY I found Boulders Resort online and there was not one review about it anywhere! Curagiously, we booked it anyway. This was a beautiful place to stay. No regrets. It was directly on the lake (not all of the hotels are so be careful). My husband and I stayed in a private cottage for our first year wedding anniversary and it was just right. It had 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Each cottage has its own BBQ grill so you can cook your own food if you want to. When we arrived the property looked very well taken care of. The cottage we stayed in was perfectly clean. They had canoes, rowboats, and kayaks ready to use for free just as the website advertises. However, the boats are a little cheaply made so they weren't the most pleasant to be in. The lake was gorgeous and peaceful. There are no housekeepers that come in to clean while you're there- they only clean after you leave and there's a "TIP" envelope on the table that's meant for the cleaning crew. There's a very small TV and a very large air conditioner that definitely cooled down the whole cottage. Oh but the cottage had a very musty smell to it. We had to buy air freshener but we got used to the smell. Also, we had no bug problems, but every once in a while we'd find a big black ant crawling in our cottage. Nothing crazy. There were no bed bugs, but the beds weren't overly comfortable. That's one thing they could upgrade! The road it's located on is full of other hotels and resorts (mostly "mom and pop" inns) and Boulders was by far one of the nicest on the road. We went during pre-season so it was much cheaper than in season rates and the weather was great. The area is nice- in Lake George Village there are lots of gift shops, arcades, and restaurants. Best gift shop was Indian Teepee and best BBQ ribs around is at Smokey Joe's BBQ. One thing about the area that was very frustrating is that most restaurants, even the chain ones like Outback, Applebees, and Olive Garden were closed during the day or only open for the weekends. It was very odd and made it a bit difficult to find good places to eat during the weekdays. I'm not sure if it's only like that during off season times. Overall we enjoyed it. If you're looking for a bigger, more luxurious place please check out the Lodges at Cresthaven- beautiful! Depe Dene looked nice as well.

We stayed there for 4 days & 3 nights last week of August 2013, in their motel rooms across the street. The motel rooms are uphill (not recommended for elderly people) and if you want peace, quiet & privacy, then stay here. They have an outdoor swimming pool but had a lot of bugs floating on it. Our 2 double bed room is just good for sleeping & the bathroom was small. There were flying bugs inside the bedroom. There are some appliances like, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker & a purple colored picture boxed television. Their website is not updated & does not specify everything that you need.

If you pick the motel rooms, know that you must cross a busy road to get to the main part of the resort and lake. A family who showed up was very unhappy and asked us to reccommend a resort on the lake because they had small children. The check in room is small and was very crowded and hot. The room was not ready by 3:00. The air conditioner never really got the room cool. The furniture was shabby. We could never get WIFI; reception said they were working on it. I liked it better when it was The Dutchess; at least the prices were cheap.

Rented a cottage for a week. Cottage was clean but musty ac didn’t remotely keep the back bedroom cool. If you even breathed on one of the twin beds it squeaked endlessly. Tv streaming was intermittent at best. The hot tub has a camera inappropriately placed on a pole adjacent to it. Rusty metal legs on the gazebo next to the hot tub that could easily cause injury to someone’s feet. Broken tile and bricks surrounding the interior of the pool and hot tub. Broken gate latch to the pool area. Directly outside of the office there were 2 broken boards on the main walkway several guests had to complain to get someone to come out and fix them. Also when you arrive you will have to make all the beds in your own cottage because of COVID. During the kids s’more night they didn’t have any gram crackers so they smashed a bag of teddy gram’s and put a marshmallow in it and told them to find a spoon. The owner seems to have totally checked out. I feel completely ripped off for what I paid.

We bring the family here every year. Perfect for everyone and a great location in proximity to the town! Very close to the trolley line and the property is kept up well. Upgraded our room for free and kid
Friendly! Would recommend to anyone in the area!

We stayed in the cabins across the street from the lake. They weren't good. The cabins themselves were run down and looked like they haven't been kept-up w/. Our cabin STUNK of mildew. The bathroom was ok. I made a complaint to the manager and she was very nasty like if she didn't want to hear anything. Also all the woman housekeepers were very nasty to everyone, you couldn't even ask them a question. My son got spider bites all over his legs from the room, which I told them in the office and they just said OKKKK...

This was the most horrible Hotel experience I have ever had.
Room #42 should be closed and never get rented.
The room smells moldy. I could not breath inside the room. The AC was a window unit that sounded like an old airplane engine on top of my head. The ceiling was a suspended type ceiling that has water leaks all over. One of bed legs was broken and replaced by a piece of wood to support it, which could move any time and you will be on the floor. I couldn't wait until 5.30 am to get my family out of this unsanitary room. I paid $200 to stay 7 hours in that room. I have no idea how they can call it a resort.

When we arrived at the boulder resort, after missing the poorly marked driveway three times, it seemed like a charming place. There were families everywhere enjoying the badminton court, playing basketball, and soakin up the sun by the lakeside. Most promising, there was the smell of burgers on the grill, or rather a grill as there is one for each cabin. Then we were sent across the street up a treacherous hill to a separate collection of cabins. A bit further from the lake than expected, but we were informed that there was a fire pit fully stocked and in working order that we could use at any time... Little did we know. At 12am a group of people came to use the fire pit and greeted us with phrases such as "what's your problem, [--]?" and "shut up, or I'll come in there old man!" after exhausting our own attempts to get them to leave, we called the police. At 4:05 someone named Theresea screamed, but we didn't see her again. The police arrived around 4:15 and took away three of the drunks. If you like to stay up late and meet new people in an unexpected manner, this is the place for you, but it might not be family friendly.

Sincerely,
[--] out at Boulder

I have been staying at the Boulders for the last 8 years. I have always loved the location compared to the village and the townhouses were always great for our groups of friends. We stayed at the location across the street last year and again this year. They are certainly not as nice as the actual property on the lake but suited our needs. You can't book any of the places for less than a week on the main property in summer. Anyway, we booked four nights this year. Upon arrival we learned of the impending Hurricane. Once we heard about the potential impact by our home in NJ, we realized we had to cut the trip short by one day. I called and inquired about a refund for the night and was told very quickly that they do not offer refunds at all. I understand in normal circumstances but this was a natural diseaster and we needed to ensure our safety and the safety of our property back home. I was very surprised by how little empathy the demonstrated. After this treatment I just can not ever return to the resort. I will spend my money elsewhere. So much for loyalty to your long standing customers. Absolutely terrible.

OK....so the day OF check-in I am TOLD by a worker that instead of getting the townhouse I rented and paid half to hold it (3 months prior by the way) that they gave it to the family that usually rents it instead???? (By the way, asked where the owner was and CONVENIENTLY she wasn't there...and of course never ever met her, she didn't even have the balls to apologize!) And I had a CHOICE of either the house (which is ACROSS THE STREET) OR two cabins?? Seriously??? No phone call no warning. If I didn't have my children with me I would have taken my money and went elsewhere....so I chose the two cabins..since who would want to be across the street when u have a 5 year old who would want to play in the playground??? Ridiculous!! There are soooo many other places to go to on lake George...choose another one. Bad bad business!!!
