The Dartbrook Lodge deserves an A++ across the board.

The customer service and hospitality was superior and the cabin was perfect in every way.

We stayed in the South Center House. The cabin was cozy and charming with great attention to detail, nice touches and was well-appointed. I've stayed at a lot of beautiful places that were not functional but the Dartbook Lodge was flawless. They really thought of everything that would make their guests comfortable. There was ample hooks, shelves and closet/dresser space. The lighting was both moody and functional as was the window treatments which offered both privacy and good light during the day. The bed was warm and comfortable. There was a nice TV cabinet to hide the TV from view in the living room. There were comfy throw blankets if needed. The layout and design was really great. The mudroom was an ideal place for winter clothes and boots and just to unpack from a full day out. In the winter, the gas fireplace was a real plus. It added to the coziness of the cabin and let off a nice amount of heat. The slate rain shower with natural, locally made soaps, was heavenly.

Anna, our main contact at Dartbook is a delight and a true asset. She was friendly, professional, gracious, generous, helpful and super knowledgeable about the area. She truly enhanced our stay.

I highly recommend a stay at this lovely lodge during a visit to the Adirondacks.

My wife and I stayed here in June and it was the most relaxing trip we have taken to date. We stayed in the North Center House, which was secluded at the entry, leaving us to sit on the porch and enjoy watching the bees and hummingbirds as we enjoyed our coffee and breakfast. We were able to walk to the local market where we picked up the necessities for cooking our own meals. Dartbrook Rustic is filled with unique and beautifully curated merchandise, many of which are created by local artisans in the ADK region. Jay and Steve were instrumental in helping us with what day hikes we should consider. It was wonderful walking through the beautifully maintained paths looking at the wildflowers and just enjoying nature. My favorite spot was a bench by the stream that runs through the edge of the property. We were also able to take a short drive to Lake Placid where we enjoyed canoeing on Mirror Lake. I really cannot recommend Dartbrook Lodge enough.

Had an excellent stay at Dartbrook lodge. Clean, well appointed luxury rooms, and amazing staff. Owners run a wonderful interior goods, restaurant and lodge in Keene valley that is a must to-do when staying in the Lake Placid area.

Dartbrook Lodge did all that they could to make our anniversary Special! Anna and Pam were very helpful and informative. They did everything they could to make our trip comfortable. Cabin was awesome and had everything you would get in a hotel and more....Quiet ,private, mountain views, convenient to Lake Placid which was only 14 miles away...We can't wait to go back!

Expect friendly, professional service at this collection of upscale cabins. Each cabin is modern and beautifully appointed in high-design rustic Adrirondack style. The property owners have impeccable attention to detail - a collection handmade soaps in the gorgeous bathroom, a big umbrella and flashlight in the front hall, sleep number beds with great pillows, and wonderful porches from which to watch the light on the field of wildflowers and hear the babbling brook.

Located about 20 min drive through the pass to Lake Placid, rates are super affordable for such luxurious accommodations. Love the design? Stop in at the shop next door to browse the best rustic Adirondack furniture and decor in the area. Walk the other way and stop in at the ADK Cafe for homemade baked goods, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Keene is a lovely town and so many great hikes.

This was our second stay at Dartbrook. We love it and we'll be back again!

Perfectly situated in the valley, Dartbrook superficially resembles, and once was, an old-school cottage motel for motoring tourists, but has been rebuilt and revamped to a fare-thee-well by proprietors of exquisite taste and sensibility. As the New York Times said a few years ago, the entire character of the place is "pitch perfect" Adirondack. The locally hand-made furnishings, and overall feel, are indistinguishable from the restored camp cottage at the Blue Mountain Lake Adirondack Museum - - but better, as our ancestors didn't enjoy a high-tech all-granite shower with a seat. The large plot affords considerable privacy while food & drink amenities are next door. Excellent choice for this locale short of a stand-alone cabin

I almost hesitate to write about Dartbrook Lodge because in some respects I'd like to keep it a relative secret. Dartbrook is a beautiful small Lodge in Keene New York, which is in the middle of it all in the high peaks. Close to Lake Placid to the North, close to Keene Valley to the South, close to the ADK Lodge and most of the great hikes to high peaks. Even more, the small number of suites - and a few stand alone cabins and homes - are spectacular. The decor gets all the rustic details right without sacrificing luxury, the scents in the rooms are deep wood pine, and the sound out of the window is or the nearby running brook. And a short walk to the street is to ADK Cafe - which is good at most meals, but particularly good at breakfast. Dartbrook is one of those special, unique finds that is absolutely worth every penny plus more (and so much less expensive than big, chain hotels in Lake Placid). We found Dartbrook and now won't stay anywhere else. I am confident that almost anyone will have the same reaction.

Dartbrook Lodge is rustic, beautiful and immaculate. The location of the Lodge in Keene is perfect, away from the hustle and bustle of touristy Lake Placid. When I look to visit an area, I prefer to find accommodations that reflect the culture and flavor of that particular area. I found that in Dartbrook Lodge, as there is thoughtful and whimsical detail throughout, from the smallest decor details to the handcrafted furniture. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and inviting. The grounds are tranquil and wildflowers abound during warmer months. Dartbrook Lodge is a wonderful value as the whole experience was top notch!

I booked the reservation after reading through all the great reviews on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. I came up with my husband, sister and mother as part of an Adirondacks road trip and we stayed at the Owl's Head Cottage for two nights. The cottage was perfect with two bedrooms, two full baths, another semi-separate room with a sofa bed, living room, full kitchen with dining area and a large outdoor deck.

Beth, at the front desk, had been so helpful in helping us book our accommodations and was so pleasant when we met. She took us down the gravel path to our private cottage and showed us around the cottage herself. We were all so impressed with the cottage. It was so tastefully and beautifully decorated with thoughtful provisions for a relaxing stay throughout (i.e., a picnic basket with plates and silverware, flashlights, etc.).

The lodge owners also own the on-site ADK Cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, Dartbrook Rustic Goods (a vintage retail shop) and ADK Market a few steps down. Even though our cottage was set down a small gravel path against a quiet backdrop we still felt well taken care of and close to all the provisions we needed.

How far off the main road
1 contribution1 helpful vote
Our main lobby is right on the main road, but our cabins vary in distance. Woodruff cottage would be our closest to the road/lobby and restaurant. We recommend Owl's Head Cottage, Halcyon or Bell's if you wish to be further from road/main lobby.
