I booked over the phone and Emily was brilliant in accommodating all my requests... We booked a double room in the Follyfoot wing with a terrace as a supplement, bedding excellent quality and spotless, huge beds very comfortable, air conditioning is excellent for keeping the room cool for sleeping... ...Check-in was smooth and we were escorted to our toom. We were left to unpack and look around the room ourselves... Considering room rates are upwards of £200 per night I was expecting to find an immaculately presented and clean room, unfortunately this was not the case... On entering the bathroom, shelves were thick of dust from where I suspect the room had not been occupied for a number of days but also not checked thoroughly before our arrival... In the main bedroom the snacks draw above the mini bar/fridge was empty, I did notify reception of this to ensure I was not mistakenly charged for the missing items... From a housekeeping point of view I would have expected rooms to have been inspected thoroughly on the day prior to guests arriving... Overall the room felt tired and in need of refurbishment and some general maintenance...

...It is with a heavy heart that I have to say each time I stay in the hotel the experience is worse than the time before... ...For an overnight spa break with dinner you are looking at £500, which is a lot of money but possibly worth it. What is really infuriating is the service charge that is put onto every single thing... Every time we got a drink in the spa there was a 10% service charge applied simply to open a bottle of beer at the bar, this is not service, this is the bartender's job... On checkout, feeling fairly relaxed, all the good work of the venue is undone when you get the bill to find out there is treatment service charge per treatment, plus a service charge for the stay in the hotel in general... This is not a cheap place to come, it does offer a fairly quality product for the price and so should not need to apply service charges on to absolutely everything... It does leave a sour taste as you head home... When will management understand that this whole ethos is wrong, look after the customer, don't look to squeeze them for every penny at every step, it really does take away from the prestigious, luxury and relaxing USP you are going for...

...The roof top spa was crowded, messy and a stressful experience and the drink prices were extortionate (£34 for a Prosecco and a glass of wine). Dinner was bland and the portions were small, again incredibly overpriced... Overall having visited lots of similar places in the north we didn’t find it to be worth the money and it didn’t feel like a special stay... Swinton Estate, Headlam Hall, Rockliffe Hall and Ramside Hall all blow this out of the water and offer much better value for money...

...We had a drink £6 for a bottle of Peroni + and £7 for a fruit juice + service charge , when I stood at the bar and ordered it , what service?... We had £52 each allowance as a part of our package , which just about covered my steak , which was nice but overpriced... We then checked out, to receive a bill of nearly £100 , for basically 2 drinks and a slight overage on our dinner allowance... RESORT fees ( are we in north Yorkshire or Vegas! )... service charges , tips for the spa treatments , added without our being given the opportunity to add these or not, room service charges ( that we hadn't had ) ... I asked for the room service charge ( that we hadn't had ) and the resort fees removing , saying that its ridiculous a resort fee is charged ( if anyone can tell me what that is for ?)... The lady at reception looked at me like I had personally asked her to pay them, removed all of the service charges/fees of the bill and said nothing to us and didn't even say goodbye ... Wouldn't return, overpriced underwhelmed , I would recommend Grantley Hall instead , a far superior experience...

...We upgraded from a morning spa and brunch to all day spa with brunch, 2 treatments, evening meal and overnight stay... Breakfast at the Clocktower was a disappointment though... To say we spent a fortune getting aches and pains massaged out that day it was all undone by the nights sleep and we woke with aching necks and backs... The cocktails are £16 each which is extortionate and you have to pay for any water, biscuits or nuts you take from the room... Seems like a bit of a money pit to be honest... ...However this time we were left disappointed in 8 months since we last stayed the hotel seemed to off changed that feeling we had when we arrived had gone... The spa was still great we both had a treatment each and they were both what we expected the spa area was like the previous times, but then the evening meal was where we felt things had definitely changed the portion size and contribution cost towards each meal didn’t really go far you still had to pay for sides and drinks etc... All in all it’s not cheap to stay here and when you end up being charged an extra £105 on food, drink and 2 service charges which were over £10 each we left this time thinking would we return a fifth, cause it had changed for the worse this time maybe it’s just the way of the country now with cutbacks...

I stayed at the hotel on Sunday 29th January it’s a spotlessly clean hotel. The reception team were efficient and the room was beautiful... Before arrival I spoke to the Executive Housekeeper Julia regarding requests for the rooms she was professional, friendly and went the extra mile!... Please thank all the housekeeping team there a credit to the hotel...

...We have visited before for the day but this time stayed over on an afternoon tea/rooftop spa/ evening meal voucher as a break from our toddler... The evening spa at this time of the year was really special as it is light when you arrive but very atmospheric in the dark when you are leaving... Great facilities oxygen room, light room, many saunas, pools, jacuzzi and steam rooms... They are a huge asset to the hotel as this is actually such difficult service to achieve but it is seamless here... The breakfast was absolutely excellent as was the afternoon tea and I think the staff member Henry at breakfast was absolutely exceptional, as were all the staff so I hate to name names but he really noticed small things quite amazingly... Generally the staff are the best part of the hotel from reception to the bar or spa they are just all brilliant... Well done Rudding we will be back...

...If you want to leave feeling totally relaxed, happy and smiling from ear to ear this is most certainly the place to go to. From the moment we walked in we knew we had made the right choice... Every member of staff from the front of house to the porters, head of relations, to the waiters and waitresses and the housekeeping were so friendly and attentive nothing was too much trouble and always smiling... Our room was stunning with a roll top bath, giant bed and generous welcoming gifts... Upon entering the rooftop spa we where most certainly in heaven... Not overcrowded, fabulous steam rooms, saunas and relaxation rooms with the outdoor heated thalassotherapy pool taking a well deserved centre stage!... Our treatment of a facial and back massage was to a very high standard... Breakfast was just as impressive from the full English to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were all divine... Special mention to Thierry, kubar and Harriet for making our time there that little bit more personable...

For Christmas my step daughter and her partner bought myself and my husband Dave a voucher for Rudding Park... We arrived early and had drinks in the library which was relaxing, comfortable and served in a room with a lovely feel to it... Our afternoon tea was booked for 3.30pm where we were escorted to the garden room of the Clock Tower restaurant again great decor with a light bright and fresh feel to it... From the start the service was fantastic, Akef, Zaky and Juluis were attentive, and could not do enough for us... They were refreshingly humorous, polite, and engaging... The delivery was slick, professional and courteous... The boys worked well as a team and made our visit to the The Clock Tower Restaurant a fantastic dining experience... They catered for my gluten intolerance and we were not disappointed by the high standard of that which we sampled and how ot was presented to us... Subsequently that was one memorable anniversary, we really were made to feel special, and we have already made recommendations to visit to family and friends... We most definitely will return, it was a fantastic treat, in superb surroundings, with exceptional service... Akef, Zaky and Julius a special thank you for making our day so special...

...On arrival the staff were pleasant enough but we then came into our first issue... Luckily the lady on the desk rescheduled us for the next day... We then asked if we could book a table in the restaurant as it stated on the booking that we were entitled to discount on dinner... The lady booked us in no problem for 6pm, dinner came swiftly but I must say it was bang average and way over priced for what it is... Don’t go hungry either as the portion sizes are tiny!... Next day we checked out and was excited to experience the spa at 10am... Breakfast was included in our stay so we both ordered salmon and scrambled eggs... After breakfast we decided to square the bill before we went into the spa... This was not made clear to us on arrival , nor did the receptionist specify where we would be eating and that our discount wouldn’t honoured here...

The room, the food and the staff were all brilliant, I booked the stay as a surprise birthday present for my wife. The only slight issue was some confusion over our what we had scheduled in our spa visit but the 5/5 was maintained primarily by a wonderful young lady working there (I’m pretty sure her name badge read Aliyah) who sorted things out quickly - she just had such a warm, helpful and accommodating demeanour which meant that something that could have been stressful never became so... All of the staff were magnificent and truly helped the make the stay special... My wife said that her birthday stay at Rudding was ‘perfect’ and happy wife means happy life!...

Had a wonderfully, memorable experience here as part of a late birthday present for my wife. The luxury and comfort is what we expected (and experienced greatly) but what made our stay so memorable was the effort made by the staff in making us feel 'special'... Special mention has to go to Connor McSherry, the bar manager on the night of our stay whose knowledge of drinks and cocktails was mind blowing... The effort (and performance) he put into preparing our drinks and talking us through the process and history of them made us feel as if we'd paid for his time and effort (we hadn't!)... Such a welcoming and professional young man who I'm sure will go far in the industry!... I also feel the need to mention our waiter for our evening meal and breakfast, I forget his name sadly but he and his brother were both from Croatia... The expertise and calm demeanour that he displayed in his approach was second to none, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to talk with him at breakfast, my wife and I wish him all the best in his future endeavours too... A wonderful experience as I say, the staff are a credit to this hotel...

...Rang up a week before and was suggested to get a suite and booked 3 different spa treatments for me and my wife. Was good service and was informed my dietary requirements would be met so everything was great!... We arrived but our room was not ready and were taken to a ‘residents changing facility’ to get changed for our first spa treatment (not ideal but these things happen) we get changed and have a good time in the spa and are then taken to our suite (hotel and spa for one night in a suite cost £1300+ no obviously not a cheap experience) the room had marks on the walls like scale in the shower and a dirty and dusty headboard... Before unpacking we have the headboard a wipe down and then went out to go to our next spa treatment (this was fantastic and by far the best facial we have both had at our time spent in Spa’s) We then find out at dinner that the dietary requirements we wanted weren’t only NOT met but also that the head chef said that they were an impossibility, this being the third strike I went to reception to complain, when a very nice polite gentleman had told me that the waiter I had spoken to that day (and the ‘head chef’) were both incorrect and that the information I received the week before from the receptionist was true... The next morning we had a treatment, which again was again turned into a nightmare due to the lack of organisation this time at the spa reception desk as we were advised to wait in the wrong area for our treatment which made us 15 minutes late for our treatment which then made us 30 minutes behind on our morning and to checkout... Spa reception had apparently contacted main reception and told them of the situation and that we MAY be 5/10 minutes late in checking out due to their mistake we were still rang up and basically informed in a polite way to hurry up (are you bags ready we can send someone to get them as it is the check out time) The worst part is my wife’s Cartier watch (£6000) was in the hotel room the whole time and not taken out when we were shown to our room, had gone missing!... I contacted the hotel at 1pm was promised a call in an hour and never got a reply... Contacted the hotel again 3pm was promised a call in an hour didn’t get a reply again... I rang again at 5pm and sent an email to the hotel and finally got a call from my email but not from the call at 5pm... I was then told I would get a call before 9pm and that they would search high and low to locate the watch!!... Once again I had to call myself at 9am where again I never got a call and had to make another call at 11am where Thierry finally took responsibility for dealing with... I was given information by Thierry which seemed to be inconsistent and not very helpful...

...Firstly the front of house and reception staff. On every occasion we are greeted with friendly, helpful professionals who clearly love their roles at Rudding Park... Rooms are always clean and well maintained and touches like the turn down service are lovely and what we would expect from a 5 star hotel... Spa areas are always maintained to a high standard and feel luxurious... Firstly, please could staff have further training, several times during dinner we were presented with someone else’s order, whilst I understand it’s a busy restaurant and staff are under pressure this shouldn’t happen in a discerning establishment... Dinner felt rushed, we had not finished our starters when waiters were stood at our table with our mains... We explained we were still eating our first course so our mains were taken away to presumably sit under a hot lamp for 5 minutes until they arrived again just as we were finishing our starters... Dinner courses should have at least 15 minutes between them and guests shouldn’t feel rushed...

Our wedding at Rudding Park in 2012 was fantastic and we've been back to stay at the hotel several times since... We arrived to find a bottle of champagne, box of chocolate fudge and a card in our room which was a lovely surprise... All of the staff we met during our 4 night stay were friendly, happy and extremely helpful... The food and service at breakfast and dinner was excellent... The plates of petit fours with various 'Happy Anniversary' themed messages written on them each evening was another nice touch after our meals in the Clocktower Brasserie... We'd like to give a special shout out to Tomas and Joao (JP) who went out of their way to ensure our dining experience in the Clocktower and bar afterwards was exceptional!!... Finally, we'd like to say a massive thank you to all of the incredible staff at Rudding Park for making our anniversary trip so memorable...

...From the moment of getting our bags out of the car we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who insisted on carrying our luggage to reception. We were early so our room wasn't ready yet but the friendly reception staff said our luggage would be taken to our room ready for when we'd finished in the spa... Staff amazing again, the best facilities and felt truly relaxed after our 2 hour rooftop spa experience... By this time our room was ready so the spa called reception to come and collect us to take us to our room... Lovely spacious room with Molton Brown toiletries and the comfiest bed... As part of our package we had an allowance for the Clocktower Restaurant so after getting ready we heading down there for some more amazing food and service... We were very impressed by the service in all areas of the hotel and cannot wait to come back... We did pay the additional service charges as felt they were worth every penny as we didn't lift a finger the whole time we were there... Thank you for making it such a memorable experience ☺️...

We visited in August and gave 72 hours notice of a dietary requirement. To say the chef had gone to a lot of trouble to provide a suitably delicious substitute (dairy free) for one of the party is an understatement... There was a lovely selection of dairy free cakes to enjoy and there was even a substitute for the clotted cream to accompany the scones... The staff were so cheerful and helpful; we left in a great mood having been totally pampered...

...Bathroom was clean with Molten Brown toiletries, my favourite... We asked if the chef would cook us a side dish of asparagus which wasn’t on the menu; he obliged and it was possibly the tastiest asparagus I’ve had and with it being my favourite veg, I’ve certainly had it cooked in lots of different restaurants... We didn’t notice till the waiter had left that the toast was missing, wrong cereal was delivered and the bacon had gone so cold and hard that it wasn’t edible... There wasn’t enough sauce for both meals, they hadn’t given us teaspoons for our hot drinks and worst of all was that mushrooms had been put on both plates even though I’d put a note on (in large capital letters) that I was allergic to them...

Late with this review but due to recent disappointing service with the hotel, a story I thought worth sharing... What made them stand out from the rest was the relaxed, ‘easy’ service... Everything was quality and ran so smoothly... The staff were still lovely but the overall service lacked and the management seemed to be centred on social media ‘influencers’ and gimmicks... I rang the hotel and was informed that the dress had been found in cleaning the room in departure but as not claimed it was given to charity... Now in a short staffed,’budget’ hotel I’d get that but when you are spending quite obscene amounts of money you expect ( and indeed used to receive) that bit extra... We actually sat outside all afternoon for lunch and drinks , a simple call to see if we’d left, wanted to come back, were still enjoying the hotel..or even did want it posted at our expense... Surely for a top class hotel that would’ve been very easy…and expected... We thought recently to try and ignite our relationship but again we’re left dissatisfied and realised customer loyalty counts for nothing now ... We’ve found other hotels who still give amazing service and have not given up on finding the perfect pairing again..indeed we’ve had some lovely fresh ‘dates’ which echo the Rudding Park of old...

My boyfriend bought me a Rudding park spa voucher for Christmas and we decided to make use of this on valentines day. We upgraded from a morning spa and brunch to all day spa with brunch, 2 treatments, evening meal and overnight stay... Horto restaurant is absolutely amazing we ate breakfast here and also lunch... It was fantastic, packed full of flavour, waiters lovely and the restaurant was spotless... The rooftop spa is lush, absolutely lovely views of the grounds from the pool and lots to do up there - sauna, steam room, foot spa, oxygen room and sunlight room... The Clocktower restaurant was amazing for our evening meal however service was very very slow... Breakfast at the Clocktower was a disappointment though... The room was nicely decorated but average, no real wow factor... They are so soft they disappear as soon as you put your head on them... The cocktails are £16 each which is extortionate and you have to pay for any water, biscuits or nuts you take from the room... Loses its luxury feel when you're made to pay for every little extra...

Just had a fabulous stay at Rudding Park hotel ... Booked the January room , spa and dine deal which was excellent value for money ... We upgraded to a Follyfoot room which was a generous size with beautiful bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower ... Afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast was included in the price along with a 2hr rooftop spa experience... All the food we ate was excellent quality and service was super friendly and professional. The fillet steak I ordered for dinner was delicious and beautifully cooked ... The Clocktower bistro and conservatory had a lovely atmosphere and although the afternoon tea slot we were given was super busy , staff remained friendly and helpful ... The spa experience was magical, super relaxing in the hot pool watching the beautiful sunset going down between the trees - so special ... Thank you so so much for all the lovely anniversary treats you provided for us too , such a delightful surprise ! ... Our stay exceeded all of our expectations and we will be visiting again very soon !...

Let me start by saying that the hotel is nice and the rooms are immaculate but from the get go the experience was pretty stressful... I booked an over night stay with access to the foot top spa and paid with a gift card, total came to £300 (roughly) but on check out it didn’t deduct the gift card which is super confusing... Don’t go hungry either as the portion sizes are tiny!... Next day we checked out and was excited to experience the spa at 10am... Breakfast was included in our stay so we both ordered salmon and scrambled eggs... After breakfast we decided to square the bill before we went into the spa... The spa was lovely my only criticism about it is when you’re walking around half naked in swimwear and robes, you don’t expect big groups of fully clothed people having meetings in doorways where you’re trying to get in... Accidentally sat on someone’s lounger as all the loungers had grey towels on which we though were complimentary, if someone would of greeted us on arrival and explained this to us it may of saved us the embarrassment...

We arrived to find a bottle of champagne, box of chocolate fudge and a card in our room which was a lovely surprise... We stayed in a Follifoot room with a terrace garden overlooking the beautiful grounds which was very spacious and comfortable... We'd like to give a special shout out to Tomas and Joao (JP) who went out of their way to ensure our dining experience in the Clocktower and bar afterwards was exceptional!!...

...From the moment of getting our bags out of the car we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who insisted on carrying our luggage to reception. After a well-rested night's sleep we headed down to Clocktower again for breakfast which of course was delicious!... We were very impressed by the service in all areas of the hotel and cannot wait to come back... We did pay the additional service charges as felt they were worth every penny as we didn't lift a finger the whole time we were there... Thank you for making it such a memorable experience ☺️...

...To say the chef had gone to a lot of trouble to provide a suitably delicious substitute (dairy free) for one of the party is an understatement. There were cheese and tomato sandwiches, egg mayonnaise, cream cheese and cucumber, ham sandwiches and so on... There was a lovely selection of dairy free cakes to enjoy and there was even a substitute for the clotted cream to accompany the scones... The staff were so cheerful and helpful; we left in a great mood having been totally pampered...

...It is a beautiful building set in beautiful grounds, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it had its own church within the grounds too (no services but you’re free to go in during daytime hours). Our room was comfortable with a lovely view over the gardens surrounding the spa... Bathroom was clean with Molten Brown toiletries, my favourite... Sadly we didn’t find time to use the spa but everyone we saw in gowns certainly looked happy and relaxed... Also what full English doesn’t come with beans??...

...Everything was quality and ran so smoothly...

We had an exceptional stay at rudding park. The room was perfect and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. They went above and beyond. The food was excellent. We tried both restaurants. The tasting menu at horto was fabulous. We also had a spa treatment which was excellent. We have decided to make a trip annually as it was so good and we don’t think we will find better for what we want need anywhere else in the uk. Can’t wait to go back.

Just been on a one night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary it was great the staff are so attentive and friendly the food in the clock tower restaurant was excellent I would highly recommend it .The room and bed was very comfortable with the grounds tasteful decorated it was a lovely pre Christmas break It’s very handy for Harrogate so we did a bit of Christmas shopping in the market we got to hotel for 3 pm check in and once settled we enjoyed a swim in the pool. We have had quite a lot of snow so did not get a chance to go walking around the grounds but I sure if we go back in the summer they will be very good.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Rudding so was looking forward to coming for an evening’s food and drink - I wasn’t disappointed, it was great! We had a selection of canapés and the drinks were flowing. The service was truly exceptional with special mention going to ‘Morgan’ and ‘Harrison’ who looked after us from the moment we got there. Would defintely recommend

We booked through the hotels website for an advertised Autumn Escape, unfortunately our initial experience booking was not very good as it appeared the reservations staff were not familiar with what was advertised in connection with the Roof Top Spa Access, and having booked to use this on day of arrival we were subsequently told that, contrary to what the web site showed, we could only use this on the day of departure. It appeared that this restriction was included if you were making a general booking but it did not show on the Autumn Escape deal booking pages. This change resulted in some inconvenience in having to change personal arrangements as it was a midweek booking and work commitments had to be re-arranged. On check out staff were apologetic for the misunderstandings and kindly removed the service charge from our bill. We booked a room in the Follifoot Wing which was spacious and nicely furnished with a large ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath and large shower. The room was clean and comfortable. The Autumn Escape included lunch and a cocktail in the Clocktower Restaurant, lunch was very nice but the cocktail was a little uninspiring. We opted to take dinner in the Horto Restaurant, again food and service was very good. We now had our Roof Top Spa access on our day of departure, it was extremely busy and as the weather was wet most people stayed inside which resulted in all the beds being taken up and nowhere to really sit and relax. We made use of most of the facilities, steam room, sauna, swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi, there was also an oxygen room which we sat in but could not detect any effect and another room that had bright lights which we did not make use of but seemed to be quite popular. Overall, leaving aside the booking issues, we found Rudding Park to be a nice comfortable place to stay.

From the moment the car pulled up at the hotel until the moment we drove away every part of our stay was made very special. The staff are all exceptionally efficient but in the most friendly way possible. The suite was to die for. as was the wonderful meals. A visit to the spa is a must, with so many zones to enjoy.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay (originally booked before Covid for a special birthday/anniversary) so it was extremely exciting to eventually make it after.a long wait. From first arriving the level of attention to detail was second to none and every person we had contact with within the hotel were extremely friendly and efficient. Special mention must go to Freya who on our first night in the restaurant really made our evening special and enjoyable by being extremely knowledgeable and being confident in everything from the menu, the wine list and cocktails and by being very friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and wherever we went within the hotel we were met with smiles and pleasantries. We used the roof top spa on our second evening and that really was an unforgettable experience, to be outside sipping fizz under the stars in a heated pool was truly magical. The only downside we encountered was the attitude of a member of staff on the front desk in the pool/spa area.. they definitely didn't follow the attitude of the rest of the hotel staff and did put a slight dampener on our first experience of the pool area on our first night (we were slightly relieved they weren't present on our second night visit)

Dear 368elainee Thank you for staying with us at Rudding Park and for taking the time to write your lovely review. The whole team are delighted that your Rudding experience was so enjoyable for your special birthday/anniversary celebration and were finally able to visit us. We do strive to provide our guests with the highest standard and quality of service from the moment of arrival and are pleased that you experienced this during your stay. We were saddened however, to hear of the attitude of one member of staff in our spa, for which I can only apologise. We understand that this is entirely unacceptable and are equally as disappointed that the high standards upon which we pride ourselves were not met on this occasion. At Rudding Park, guest service is incredibly important to us and making our guests feel welcome and attended to is fundamental. As such we were shocked to read that you had been made to feel otherwise but gladdened that this did not mar what was otherwise an enjoyable stay. It also goes without saying that Freya was so touched that you felt she deserved a particular mention. Of course we would never tire of receiving feedback like yours, neither do we expect it, however it is such a constant source of motivation, so a huge thank you for leaving your review. I stay at Rudding Park 2 or 3 times a year to visit family in Yorkshire and it still is one of the best hotel experiences I enjoy in the U.K.; the staff are friendly, courteous, polite, efficient and are so well trained. The Follifoot Rooms I stay in are very comfortable, the food at breakfast and dinner is excellent and always served with a smile and promptly. The spa facilities are outstanding, the grounds beautifully maintained and, overall, you will not find many better hotels in this country. I love staying here on each visit, as I am made to feel so welcome!

Fabulous one night pre birthday stay with a lovely spacious room amazing spa and great evening meal with plenty of choice and high quality ingredients. However the special ingredient that sets this hotel apart from its competition is the staff. In many years of travel I have rarely experienced such friendly efficient staff and not just a few but all of them.. a very well done to you all! It was a pre birthday night away and the hotel helped me in celebrating with a card and some fudge Prosecco and happy birthday truffles.. thank you so much. I def hope to return soon!!
