Basic old hotel that is in relatively poor condition and provides very limited facilities although bedrooms are comfortable but the bathroom needed a lot of attention. Very little accessible in the vicinity and night staff quite unhelpful. Expensive for what is on offer
I stayed for one night between flights. Overall the hotel was basic, but everything you need. Comfortable beds, friendly staff and easy access to the airport. I'd stay here again next time I have a layover at JFK.
We booked this as we had a layover at JFK for a night. We got an Uber there, checked in quickly and found the room ok. There were security downstairs so I assume they are dealing with the problems previous reviewers have had. The service was friendly and quick and in the morning the young lady went out of her way to help us, offering to post some cards on our behalf and didn't even want paying for the stamps. That pushed them up to 4 stars for me. We had arrived late as we had been delayed by customs in Miami but this was no problem. So overall we were happy as the room was clean, the sheets and towels were sparkling white and the shower worked in the morning.
I spend on average of 3 nights each month at JFK between flights and as an IHG Elite stay at either the JFK Crowne Plaza or the Holiday Inn JFK. Tonight was last minute and the IHG properties were sold out. The other major Hotel chains that had rooms were asking $400+. Even other hotels/motels I would avoid were asking 300+. I knew of the JFK GARDEN INN (not to be confused with the Hilton Garden Inn) and it was also one of the properties I would avoid due to the mostly negative reviews. However, here I am for the night. PROS: My room, albeit small, was immaculate and comfortable. Very surprised. Furniture and fixtures clean and modern. Comfortable bed, clean fresh linens. Nice large flat screen TV. Perfectly working, efficient central air conditioning. Large bathroom with nice fixtures and adequate amenities. Coffee maker. Friendly reception staff. Allowed me to check in at 12noon. Posted check in time is 3:00. CONS: No airport shuttle. They used to have one however it was discontinued in May/2018. Uber ride under $6.00. No fridge. They took them out last year. Knowing the location of the property I purchased food at JFK and would have liked to have had a fridge in the room to keep my food cold. Not a great neighborhood nor food options in walking distance however there are some delivery options. Overall, for the short stay and value for what I paid I was pleasantly surprised. I would consider staying here in the future if I run into the same situation as I found myself in today. Based on my experience, I would recommend this property for quick overnight between flights at JFK. …
I hate writing bad reviews but I really feel that customers need to know how seriously this property has deteriorated. The beautiful entrance landscaping is deceptive. Although the desk agent was extremely helpful and kind, the lobby was filthy. The rooms were old and one of them (we booked 2) had non working air conditioning. I do believe this hotel is also a residence facility. I no longer see Hilton's name on this hotel and for good reason. Do not bring small children. There was a loud abusive verbal fight going on when we arrived and no one tried to stop it. Loud music was coming from some of the rooms on our floor. Bad weather filled all available rooms near JFK the night of our stay so we could not consider another hotel. Don't make the mistake we made.
