We stayed at the Hotel Ithaca as part of a wedding block. We were very happy with the location and the look of the lobby, and the rooms are modern, spacious and clean. You do have to reach far into the shower to turn on the water and adjust the temp, but the water pressure was great. The room could could use a luggage rack or bench.

Stopped in for a few days to explore a bit of Ithaca. The hotel was easy to find and check in was easy and pleasant. Bed was very comfy, and room amenities (fridge & Keurig) was nice to have. Staff very good and room service was spectacular and the breakfast and coffee they brought were excellent. The bad parts were the fact that our room was missing a huge pane of glass which made sleeping with the street noise difficult. Also, TV remote didn't work and so needed to get another from front desk, and the satellite feed to the TV would intermittently go out. It was also strange to not have USB ports on the lamps or outlets. Hot water in wash basin was super hot (ouch), but oddly the shower took forever to heat up. Placement of bog rolls was awkward. All in all certainly the positives strongly outweighed the negatives.

I thought my room was nice, clean and modern but the price of $159 with a total of $189.62 with taxes was just not reasonable!!! This price should have included breakfast of some kind. Without and piece of toast, glass of juice or a muffin the coast was just not reasonable. I decided to purchase breakfast on Tuesday, was told "though that aren't usually open Tuesday for breakfast they would be that day", but unfortunately it was 6:45 and they would not be open until 7:30 if she had a cook. Like I said, the room was nice, but cost will keep me from returning.

Full disclosure: we stayed at The Hotel Ithaca Memorial Day Weekend during the COVID pandemic of 2020. I was greeted by an unfriendly, almost rude, person behind the desk. Not a good way to start. I inquired about upgrading my room. I was told it wasn’t possible, however, I didn’t get the impression that my request was taken seriously or that she tried hard enough to comply. I do realize that during the pandemic many hotels just open up a few designated floors or hallways. I do believe that this also left a little wiggle room to find an open room for my upgrade request. We had a view of the back of a local gas station’s dumpsters. We spent 2 nights at this hotel. After the first night, I stopped at the front desk to notify them that my room would be empty for a few hours so it would be available for cleaning. That’s when I was told that due to COVID, no one was going to enter the rooms to clean, and if I needed anything she would have it sent to my room. I said I needed everything, but when I returned I only received 2 bath towels and some shower products. Not even a roll a toilet paper! There were no back up rolls when we arrived. The garbages were full and not emptied. Later that night I had to go to the main desk and I had to carry up all my towels, toilet paper, and coffee pods. When my husband went across the street to pick up our dinner, he had to walk by some very undesirable vagrants hanging out on the hotel benches right outside the automatic doors. The best part of our stay was the large bathroom with natural stone shower. The location was convenient, but we were turned off by the people allowed to loiter just outside the entrance. I may opt to give this hotel another try during normal operation since I have only heard great things about it, but it would not be because of anything the staff said or did to encourage me to do so.

I’m not a very picky person about hotels but I would hope they would at least provide minimum services if you lying higher prices.

The pool was under maintenance which is not too big of a deal but it would’ve been nice to know that when we checked in or have an alternative option as most places provide that if their pool is unavailable. The bed was also so uncomfortable and small shower.

The pool was the least of the problem. They tell you when you check in to let them know if you need more towels or bed service, no big deal as this is pretty standard. But if we needed anything (toilet paper, shampoo etc.) we had to go to down to the front desk because apparently there was never more than one person working who could bring it up.

This was also very concerning to me that they wouldn’t be in your room cleaning to be able to see that you had no toilet paper or other shower products. Does this mean they don’t come in to clean your room at all while you’re there? Seems a little gross to me. We would’ve probably had to ask for cleaning products and go get them ourselves.

We were very unimpressed and when the woman at the front desk asked we told her we would not be coming back and why she did not seem very understanding and was a bit rude.

Not worth it at all.

We arrived on July 22 for a wedding only to see around 8 couples milling around in the lobby. Turns out the rooms weren't ready for check in. They said they were short staffed despite knowing how booked they were for the weekend. Both my wife and I and the couple we were traveling with didn't get our rooms until after 7 p.m. after waiting for hours in the lobby. We missed the first half of wedding cocktail reception that had already started by the time we got our rooms. During the weekend, nobody came to clean the rooms, take out trash or anything There's no free breakfast which most hotels offer. Even the coffee service was out of coffee every morning. The staff were nice enough and the location is good if you want to be downtown but I sure wouldn't go there again.

The location was perfect for walking around downtown Ithaca. I specifically chose it because I could walk to the start line of a half marathon I came into town to run. However, that's where it ends. The room was dirty and despite asking for turndown service twice, it didn't get any better. It is understandable that turndown service and cleaning services had to be requested due to COVID safety regulations, but when we did request them, they showed up only 1 time out of 2 requests and still didn't vacuum or even wipe down a dirty table. I had to swipe my own coffee pods off an abandoned cart in the hall. This was a very expensive hotel and I feel the service should have been much better.

I have stayed here several times, and I really like returning to these clean and comfortable rooms. Hotels in Ithaca tend to fall into three broad categories -- nice but poorly located, well located but not nice, or nice and well located but overpriced. The Hotel Ithaca is one of the rare places that is affordable, very nice, and in a great location. Right in the heart of downtown, you can walk to all of Ithaca's best restaurants and shops, but the hotel is just a block away from the busiest area, so it's also quiet.

Staff is nice but they don’t have sufficient help to clean rooms even when asked. Very disappointed as they promised a roller bed and also cleaning and both never happened. I would say that they should drop prices if they can’t even provide minimal service when even repeatedly asked. My advise is don’t stay here.

Hotel is a bit dated. Not worth $300/night just for the convenience of being close to downtown area. The AC unit in the room blows cold air directly onto the bed. Unit belongs in a cheaper hotel. Bar was closed by 9pm on a Saturday night

lynniey2017 asked a question Apr 2017
Rochester, New York
Are there mini fridges in the rooms?
Answer from Sonny K
Ithaca, New York
Hello. There are mini Fridges in all the rooms in the tower and the lobby rooms. we currently do not have fridges in the main building rooms. in the very near future, our new north tower rooms will be operational and they all will have mini-fridges as well. so we will have 100% of our rooms equipped. Thank you

How can I make sure I get a room that was recently renovated? I'm paying almost $300 for one night!
Answer from MontyKTown

Book somewhere else. I am serious - this is the most disgusting and dirty hotel experience I have ever had in North America. Dirty sheets etc. Get out while you can! For $300 you can probably book a renovated and VERY clean room with spectacular view at the Statler at Cornell. A totally different class of hotel for the same price.
Answer from SonnyKarimi
Ithaca, NY
The room that you reserved is in a newly renovated section of the hotel. It is not in the Tower and it is stair access only.
