The hotel is severely understaffed. Had to wait 3 extra hours to check in. Little breakfast service. No van No pool Very disappointing stay. The location is good, near the walkable part of Ithaca. Near restaurants.
Staff is nice but they don’t have sufficient help to clean rooms even when asked. Very disappointed as they promised a roller bed and also cleaning and both never happened. I would say that they should drop prices if they can’t even provide minimal service when even repeatedly asked. My advise is don’t stay here.
my check in was pushed back by 2 hours and I was assigned to 2 different rooms that were already occupied. I was given keys and entered 2 rooms that had people already staying in them. The staff was apologetic and I was told there were 4 wedding parties staying there that weekend but I was not offered any sort of compensation or refund for my trouble.
The staff was very friendly. Everyone you passed acknowledged you and smiled. My room was clean and comfortable. Since the floors aren't carpeted, footsteps above are quite loud. Other than that it was great!
The newly renovated hotel was centrally located and within a short walking distance to Ithaca Commons. It's also set back enough from the Commons that it's quieter. It was easy to walk everywhere - including the farmer's market (1.5 miles). It's also a great home base for visiting the area's wineries, state parks, and local attractions. The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet. Best of all - FREE parking and that's a bonus in downtown Ithaca.
Check the staffing and amenities before you book. There was no pool or bar! We arrived at 5 and didn't get a room until after 8pm. There was no water available and the staff looked like deer in headlights when asked a question.
Lack of staff, rooms uncleaned, had to request my own cleaning supplies. Just the amount of filth in the bathrooms alone made me want to switch hotels but I was at a work conference and could not. There was excessive amount of homeless in the area, that battered and yelled at guests during the day, begging for money and food..Drug dealing in the back lot, and there was a shooting in the parking lot, car break in all with the 5 days of my stay.. I would NEVER stay here again.
We arrived on July 22 for a wedding only to see around 8 couples milling around in the lobby. Turns out the rooms weren't ready for check in. They said they were short staffed despite knowing how booked they were for the weekend. Both my wife and I and the couple we were traveling with didn't get our rooms until after 7 p.m. after waiting for hours in the lobby. We missed the first half of wedding cocktail reception that had already started by the time we got our rooms. During the weekend, nobody came to clean the rooms, take out trash or anything There's no free breakfast which most hotels offer. Even the coffee service was out of coffee every morning. The staff were nice enough and the location is good if you want to be downtown but I sure wouldn't go there again.
This hotel could be decent with a little more effort, but there's too many issues for me to say it's good. The breakfast that was made available was very low quality with no healthy choices literally just eggs potatoes and bacon or ham everyday. The complimentary coffee was often empty . The meeting rooms were almost unbearably hot, close to 80ﾟas the AC was insufficient. My room was comfortable but the other negatives overwhelm the whole experience.
My 2nd stay at The Hotel Ithaca and as always the hotel and staff are fantastic!. Hotel is close to the still lovely Ithaca Commons with it's unique architecture and beautiful flower beds. The shops have changed on the Commons and there are several vacant buildings at the moment.. Do try the little ice cream shop that makes green tea ice cream rolls!
