Although a bit dated, our room was very clean, quiet, and relaxing. We were in the pet wing and could walk out with our cat and sit in one of three gazebos with a water feature, small pond, and flowers and wildlife all around. Behind the hotel is a trail leading to Lower Buttermilk Falls. The hotel graciously picks up residents after the hike. The Bistro is in an old farmhouse and charming. Gardens, more gazebos, and a spa that is one of the best I've ever visited. All staff were genuinely attentive and helpful...it has an interesting history and being that the Dalai Lama stayed here in 2005, perhaps it is especially blessed. Definitely an original and I hope it continues to flourish.
Spent a long weekend at La Tourelle and enjoyed every moment The rooms are nice (ask for ones with a fireplace they are larger) The general manager Cameron is so helpful he has tons of recommendations for exploring the Finger Lakes by boat (his recommendation was Costa DaVina with Captain Paulo Carmen) to wineries and restaurants Don’t miss happy hour each evening at 5:00 its a great time to meet the other guests and chat! The Bistro serves breakfast and lunch I would recommend trying both the food was fantastic and ask for Hailey she was a great server! Thanks to Courtney and all the woman that were so helpful at the front desk
Over the last 10 years I have stayed in the usual chain hotels in Ithaca, this trip with my wife, we thought we would give La Tourelle a go. What a great decision, from the moment we walked up to the front door and a young lady who was doing some pruning, grabbed the door to help us enter easily, we knew we were somewhere that people cared. Our room was a Traditional King, it was large enough for our needs, had a fridge, coffee maker (not needed as they have great coffee available in reception) and room was very quiet. The Happy Hour at 5pm was a nice experience to try some local wines, we happily wandered over to the duck pond to be entertained by the wildlife for one glass and the second was spent on the swing on the other side of the hotel next to the fish pond, what a perfect start to the evening. Next challenge was what to eat ? Unfortunately the Bistro is only open at the weekends for dinner, so we ordered food from the Italian takeout (they deliver) It came very quickly and we sat by the duck pond again being entertained while eating. We also had the pleasure of meeting Scott who came to feed his ducks and put them to bed for the night (he happens to be the hotels owner) It truly is a family run operation that is hands on and it really shows in the high customer care they offer. We are already planning our next stay at La Tourelle, next time we will make sure it has a weekend night so we can have dinner at the Bistro, as the breakfasts there were great. Looking forward to more good Finger Lake wines and relaxing at La Tourelle…
Enjoyed our visit to the Finger Lakes region with La Tourelle as our home base. The free wine hour with wines from the local area was a nice touch. The spa was so relaxing and the quaint hotel and room was comfortable and clean. The area was beautiful.
Our one night stay at La Tourelle was not enough! Everything from the room to the friendly staff was wonderful. It is close to the downtown but has such a relaxing atmosphere . Next time we will have to plan for a longer stay.
Our group of 3 women celebrating 50 years of friendship, enjoyed a lovely one night stay at La Tourelle. The double king room was enough space for us with the table for games and a loveseat for sitting back to read. We enjoyed our happy hour wine on the patio in the breezy sunshine and shade. The staff was friendly and efficient. We were given helpful restaurant suggestions since Monday night is a bit more challenging to find open tables. Lobby snacks are always a win! I highly recommend La Tourelle if your goal is a quiet, refined and relaxing stay..
Well appointed rooms, multiple secluded spots for relaxation and refining. Staff is wonderful and will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. August Moon is over the top! Trails to the falls and pond are a great way to cap off a day's work if your're stay is business. Oh and they have a social happy hour with wine tasting!!
We stayed for a 3 night stay in October 2021. There was not a 3 night availability for one room and needed to transfer rooms. We stayed in two nights in a traditional king bedroom then transferred to a deluxe king with a balcony and fireplace. Both rooms were very comfortable. We were able to listen to the music from our balcony room on the weekend as well as enjoying drinks and takeout dinner. It is a great location for hiking and local restaurants. Breakfast in the morning was very enjoyable. We enjoyed the complimentary wine for happy hour at the bar and socializing with the other guests! Highly recommend!
Stopped here on a whim while headed home to Connecticut after a long weekend in the finger lakes region. Unfortunately lunch at the bistro was a miss for us. Service was mediocre and the food was not great. My husband ordered an omelet full breakfast which he said was okay, however the pancakes I ordered were not good at all. They were very chewy and tasted like they had cornmeal in them and they were also served with a huge blob of whipped cream on them (not mentioned on the menu and not my preference on pancakes). I couldn't stomach the taste and only managed to eat 2 small bites. After we paid, the server forgot my husband's credit card in the machine and we had to ask for it. The place seemed pretty empty but maybe we noticed another couple dining at the same time seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meal so maybe we were just unlucky.…
This hotel is in a beautiful spot right on the edge of buttermilk falls state park. There are chipmunks and ducks on the property so sometimes it feels like you are in a Disney movie! Scott and his team go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They do a great happy hour between 5-6 every day with good, local wine. However, note that the Bistro doesn’t currently do dinners and there are limited options for food nearby. Someone will have to forgo that second glass of wine if you want to eat!
