OHEKA CASTLE is a majestic historic mansion located on Long Island's Gold Coast between New York City and the Hamptons. This 1920s French-style chateau is listed on the National Register for Historic Places and boasts 32 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites on the upper floors where guests can sleep like royalty. Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful formal gardens, take a mansion tour and learn about the Castle's rich history, wine and dine in European ambience in the OHK Bar & Restaurant before retiring to their guestroom for an in-room massage. Breathtakingly beautiful, OHEKA CASTLE is admired around the world as a premier venue for exquisite weddings and gala celebrations and has been the backdrop to many prominent film and photo productions. The refined European atmosphere and the feeling of being transported back in time to the decadence of the Roaring Twenties consistently gives OHEKA the recognition as America's Grandest Castle.

If you live on Long Island, I would highly recommend the Oheka Castle tour. It was interesting and enlightening. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and informative. We stayed after the tour and had lunch at the restaurant which was very good. We even got a chance to talk to the owner of Oheka. He went around to every table and introduced himself and spent time talking with everyone. I would definitely tell others to come to Oheka and step back in time for afternoon.

This was our first night away from our baby!...wait...she was then 2.5 years old, ha! This was such a nice setting for a couple's getaway! We enjoyed walking the gardens and a really nice dinner. The castle was incredible. The only downside was that the breakfast was a joke so we got something on the road.

Great tour….very interesting history about the castle….I went with a couple of my girlfriends and we had lunch after….we had a great time and food is delivered. I usually go there for my birthday dinner every year and we love it. Will go again for my birthday next month.

Disappointed. Tour is way overpriced, and castle is underwhelming. Should be free with dinner. I think we saw 4 rooms. Bridal suite is outdated and creepy. Could be fabulous with a renovation. Beautiful area but no flowers planted anywhere. It's July! No flowers in lobby. Drab and dull. Music was so loud the guide had to shout until she figured out how to turn it down. Had dinner afterwards. Service was terrible. Had to ask for water after about 20 min. Meal was good (pricey) but don't think I'd return. Curiosity has been satisfied.

Careful readers will note that the "rave reviews" and "5 stars" this establishment has garnered are from folks who only took the tour, or who did lunch and the tour. There's no way to say this without sounding like a snob but here goes; anyone so wowed by this place has never seen Hearst Castle, or Versailles, or the Forbidden City. Yes, Oheka is big but so what? A Big Mac is big. That doesn't make it good or noteworthy. We came to Oheka to celebrate my husband's birthday. We booked the all-inclusive package of room, welcome champagne, dinner and breakfast. If this hotel were truly 5 stars with a restaurant that is commensurate, the rate would have been fine. My issue is that this place is an odd hybrid of event space and wanna-be hotel and wanna-be fine dining establishment and as a result it misses the mark, at least from a hotel guest's perspective, thereby making the rate feel excessive. The space exudes a quirky atmosphere. It doesn't feel like a hotel at all. It does feel like some eccentric, rich relation handed over the keys to their cavernous "castle" without realizing endless open space does not a gracious setting make. Our room was spacious enough but the furniture is dated. The bathroom was large yet offered zero surface area on which to put a dob kit or toiletry bag. We wound up using the edge of the bath tub as it was literally the only place to put anything. On the upside, the bed was comfortable. The garden and grounds are beautifully maintained. We were also able to pay an additional fee to bring our small dog. The dog had a terrific time! My husband thought the whole thing was a hoot, an amusing one-off. And while I am glad that my husband could laugh at the experience I must say that I was disappointed. It's not that I'm really a snob, it's just that I have had the blessing of extensive travel all over the world. From my perspective, it's not price that sets a hotel apart, rather it's about creating an experience for the guest. The experience at Oheka is peculiar. Is it a wedding venue, event space, "castle open for tours", or hotel? It will never succeed as a hotel until management embraces exactly that means for this site and takes the experience up several notches. Simply handing over a room key then having guests ramble around endless empty corridors (but keep an eye out for the tour groups!) does not make this a 5-star hotel, it only makes it sad.

My daughter and I were awed by OHEKA, its grandeur, fascinating history, charm, and ambience. Even the ladies room ante-room had us intrigued by the decor. The guide was superb in her enthusiasm, knowledge and personal attachment. Lunch, overlooking the grounds, was expensive but worth every dollar. Well worth the 2 hour drive .

We went on a tour of the estate. The guide was very knowledgeable and genuinely informative and enjoyable We learned about the history of the estate, the change in ownership, the different uses over the years, the renovation and extensive restoration and the current ownership. You can enjoy a meal after the tour. Take pictures and sit on the furniture! A great day!

We came for the hour tour and then lunch. The tour was very nice. Vicki was a great guide. Our lunch was at 1:45 and we got seated outside. They still had their brunch menu going. We got the shrimp tempura appetizer. Light and tasty. Delicious. For lunch my friends got the burger and I got the Cobb salad. The burgers were cooked perfectly and were juicy and so tasty. The truffle fries were great. Cobb salad was also very good. Chicken had a lot of flavor. For dessert we got the peanut butter brownie and profiteroles. Excellent. Our waitress was great. We’d gladly come back.

From the moment we drove up to the castle we were captivated by the grandeur. Stunning doesn’t begin to scratch the surface. We started with the tour. Janice was our guide and lives in the neighborhood. She was a perfect storyteller and had an intimate knowledge of the past surrounding this exquisite castle. We fell deeply in love with this place. Next we explored the beautiful luxurious grounds with mirror pools and felt one with the entire place. While checking into our lunch, a nice man said hello and happened to be the owner who was a gem. The hard work and vision from this man was extra ordinary. He thanked us for coming. A big thank you to you Sir Gary! Next stop was a cocktail at the bar. Sensational and not your run of the mill. Lunch at the OHK was exceptional. The food was delicious and the dessert phenomenal. We were sad to leave and will book a room to stay. We traveled an hour and half each way and I am still on a historical and satiated high by the visit. Must go back very soon!

The Oheka Castle, also known as the Otto Kahn Estate is an absolute amazing hotel and a magnificent attraction located in the North Shore Of Long Island. In March of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a great weekend stay at the Oheka Castle to celebrate our Happy Five Year Wedding Anniversary. Built between the years, 1914-1919, the castle once served as the principal residence of Otto Herman Kahn, one of the 20th Century’s most successful investment financiers and philanthropist. Oheka Castle is the largest private home in New York State and the second largest in the United States. Today, the castle is owned by Gary Melius, a prominent Long Island developer and functions as a luxury hotel, conference center, and as a wedding events venue. Due to its immense beauty and grandeur, Oheka Castle has hosted several celebrity weddings ranging from Curtis Martin, Kevin Jonas & Brian McKnight. The castle has also been prominently featured throughout popular culture, such as its appearance in films, Citizen Kane, What Happens In Vegas, and music videos, Beyoncé’s Haunted & Taylor Swift’s Blank Space. During our weekend stay, both my wife and I were captivated by the elegance and opulence of the castle, it’s gorgeously designed architecture, and were deeply impressed with the estate’s majestic landscape, superbly manicured lawns and the highly decorative Otto Kahn office. My wife and I were warmly welcomed and wonderfully treated by the hotel’s staff, and we found our room to be quite spacious, clean and very comfortable!!! Other enjoyable aspects of the hotel are its multitude of spectacular artwork, immaculate dining halls and highly delicious morning breakfast!!! Both my wife and I would love to thank the staff of Oheka Castle for providing us with a wonderful weekend stay and highly recommend for everyone to visit and explore this breath-taking attraction!!!
