Detailed Reviews
My husband took me to The Fairlawn Inn during peak fall colors this past October as a delightful surprise gift for my birthday. The Inn is a beautifully restored Victorian mansion decorated with antique furnishings, art work and healthy houseplants everywhere! The gourmet breakfasts, included in the price of the room, were prepared to perfection by the Innkeeper, Chuck. Protocols for safety from COVID were strictly observed and allowed us to relax and enjoy all of the amenities offered.
We recommend a stay at the Fairlawn Inn without reservation.

The Fairlawn Inn was first built in the early 1900's as the summer home of a wealth New York architect. Though time took a toll, renovation and hard work helped bring the house back and earned it a place in the Historic Society's landmark registry.
Our Innkeeper, Chuck, with an assist from his helper, Marjorie, made our breakfasts delicious and served with care and attention to detail. Two floors, surrounded by wraparound porches were quiet places to relax, read, and enjoy the mountain view in peek leaf-changing-colors. Chuck takes additional pride in his efforts to convert his inn into a model for green energy. Thanks for a great weekend in which my wife and I were able to celebrate our birthdays.

My husband and I stayed at this amazing inn for a weekend skiing trip at Hunter Mountain, and we loved it. First the location, it is right next to the ski resort, 2 min drive, and we can actually see the trails from our room. Second, the innkeeper Sandy is very friendly, helpful, and hospitable. She gave us great local restaurant and bar recommendations, and made us feel like home. They took precautions for Covid19, and everyone was wearing masks and keeping social distancing. They offered complimentary coffee & tea, soda & bottled water, and breakfast (bakery, fruit, yogurt, instant noodle! etc). Third, the inn itself is a gem, victorian style with historical touch. We learned about the history of this inn from Sandy, and how she was selected as the 4th generation innkeeper among many candidates in 2020. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet, and we cannot wait to come back soon!

My daughter and I went to hunter mountain for a snowboarding trip which was also my daughters birthday. Sandy went the extra mile in making this a special weekend for my daughter by putting up decorations, giving her flowers, a gift, and making her a stack of pancakes for breakfast with a candle in it! She played birthday music and helped us location a nail salon so she could go get her nails done. The rooms were very clean and the house is very welcoming and cozy.. you will feel right at home with this stay!! We will be back for sure. You also get a great view of the mountain!!

Highly recommend this place. Sandy was very accommodating. She took care of us way beyond our expectations as a host. They keep everything clean and accessible. The rooms were cozy, lots of large windows to let on lots of sunshine and come with breath taking views of Hunter Mountain

We had a fantastic time at The Fairlawn Inn. Sandy is a gracious host and we were treated like family. The interior is attractively decorated in a Victorian style and the rooms are spotless and beautiful. The location is perfect for walking to the ski resort, restaurants and antique stores.

My wife and I just returned from a 4 day/3-night getaway in the Catskill region of New York. We chose the Fairlawn Inn based on the reviews, the location and the appealing photo’s we saw online. I can say, unreservedly, that it was the best decision we could have made. It was easy to find and centrally located to many of the sites and attractions we visited. The inn itself is beautiful. It has all the amenities that one could ask for. A gorgeous wrap-around porch with plenty of tables and chair – with a great view of Hunter Mountain across the street. At least three cozy parlors and sitting rooms perfect for lounging with a book or magazine. A backyard patio with fire pit for cool evenings. We took advantage of it all.
Perhaps the best feature of the inn was the inn keeper – Sandy. She could not have been more accommodating and helpful. She was very generous with her time and provided with us advice and recommendations on directions, restaurants, and some of the top attractions in the area. By the time we left, it felt like we had known her for years.
I cannot recommend this inn strongly enough.

+1
The hosts at the Fairlawn Inn were very friendly and accommodating. The Inn is beautifully appointed and is a showpiece of master wood craftmanship and stylish design. Flowers adorn the property and Sandy makes sure everything is set up to be visually pleasant. The breakfast was very good and the rooms are very clean and pretty. I highly recommend staying at the Fairlawn Inn. The beauty of the Inn and the surrounding mountains are perfectly suited for a relaxing experience.

The inn is run by the new owner Sandy, who was worth the trip up from NYC alone. She is incredibly friendly and lives to make her guests as happy as possible. Any request you have she will help with, and she has thought of every amenity that could improve your stay - whether it’s free breakfast or food to bring to the mountain, bubble bath salts, or even home cooked dinner if the local restaurants are closed.
The inn itself is charming and a 1 min drive from the mountain entrance.
I promise you will get your money’s worth and have probably the best hotel experience of your life here. I will absolutely be coming back to hang with Sandy.

Cindy is an excellent host who came through for us at the last minute when it turned out the hotel we’d reserved nearby had overbooked.
Our room was huge, spacious and most importantly…clean! The location is incredibly convenient for activities at Hunter. Breakfast was good—not exceptional, but very respectable nonetheless—and other staff we interacted with were really pleasant.

Thanks for your interest in the Fairlawn. We have four common area rooms, the TV room with an unstocked wet bar that seats 6 -8 people, the Game room that has a billiard table, the dining room that seats 18+ and the front parlor that has comfortable seating for six and a seasonal propane fireplace. In warmer seasons we have a patio and several porches with a variety of comfortable seating and tables with chairs for games or meals.
Best Regards
Chuck - the innkepper
We do allow dogs as long as they are not barkers. The inn is an older home and sound carries so therefore the concern. The raspberry bramble and willow room are dog friendly. There is a $25 charge per night for the addition of the dog. Please specify on your online reservation if you plan to bring your treasure.
Chuck - the innkeeper
I don't quite understand your question as the owner of the B&B. The room has a private bath, queen sized bed, flat screen tv with DVD player and a clock radio. Every stay has a full cooked to order breakfast included. This room is off the upstairs porch with access to the upstairs porch but the entrance is from the inside of the inn. I hope this answers your question. You can always call at 518 263 5025 if you need further information. Thanks for your inquiry.
