Everything about this place is chill. Loved the rooms, indoor and outdoor space, amazing food and pool area. The staff is accommodating and helpful. We booked on a Sunday and breakfast was included. Not to be missed! Stayed in June but would love to check out a winter weekend. Go, you won’t be disappointed!

The people who work here are nice, and the food is good, but that does not compensate for poorly planned rooms, poorly planned menus, and caginess. For example, I had to sit on the bed to put on my makeup because there wasn't an appropriate chair in the room and no desk to sit at besides, no dresser, and no light to see hanging clothes. My elderly father needed a chair to sit in to put on his pants and after three requests they gave up. If they want to charge NYC prices for the rooms they'd better start providing NYC level service and amenities. Furthermore, we planned a large family dinner (20-25 people). Two thoughts: a) while the food was good, it was not in any way worth what they charged. b) they insisted there was no way to have a cocktail hour outside unless we rented a tent, hired a serving staff, etc. and then the day of we find that there's a deck right off the restaurant. They flat out lied to us about that during the whole planning process. Ostensibly to rope us unsuspectingly to pay even more for the evening?! Never again.

There is a major difference between the weekend and weekday facilities/service- we didn’t have any lunch OR dinner available the whole time we were there except one night (we were there Monday-Thursday). Also no yoga, movies etc- only available during the weekend. So in short- I have never seen such a lack of facilities for a $350 per night room. Breakfast was extra, expensive, and took half an hour to arrive. Pool was nice, room was fine and large enough too. You could hear the traffic on the road most of the time though. We loved the area though- katerskill falls area a must see, walk around the lakes. The common area and spaces outside were pretty, but this is a glorified, no frills motel during the week but at not motel prices. Room for improvement.

Here is a list of issues we had in a 2 night visit: * Large German Shepherd, off leash, ran and barked at us aggressively when entering the lobby. The 3 people at the reception said it was their friend's dog. None of them cared at all or helped. * Neighboring room had a dog and baby, and due to the very thin walls, could hear the crying and barking through the night * Bathroom door didn't close * Unable to find parking space due to lot being full * Bathroom sink drained very slowly * Awful service at restaurant for breakfast (took 15 minutes to get syrup for $14 pancakes) * Had 2 bath towels for a room for 3 people * Coffee service in lobby was either burnt or empty * Fan in loft broken It's unfortunate, because the place has a lot of potential due to its location, the lovely grounds and views, and good sized rooms.

I've stayed at the lodge two years in a row during the months of September and October. Both times were extremely pleasant experiences. The rooms are cozy and the common spaces are spacious and well-decorated. I am always blown away by the seasonal menu at The Prospect––the food is of the highest quality and never fails to satisfy. I was slightly disappointed by the annual Cider Fest, which was definitely not as exciting as I thought it was going to be.
