Based on the recommendation of my brother and his wife, who live a few blocks from the hotel, my wife and I booked the double queen room at Mamá Carlota for the last week of December, and we were delighted with our stay at this new, lovely boutique (11 rooms) hotel. Our room was ideal: the beds were comfortable, with immaculate linens that are apparently replaced on a daily basis; free, fast WiFi; a flat-screen TV, about which I can say nothing, as we never made use of it; fresh bottled water replaced each day; fruit; a large bathroom with ample hand soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. For the traveler unfamiliar with Mexico, I should mention that the hot water pressure varies according to the time of day, with mornings late afternoons apparently being the best times for hot water pressure, but this was not an issue for us; and two balconies overlooking the hotel's interior courtyard.
The hotel's website mentions breakfast and brunch, but it was unclear to us if the former is included in the room price. Fortunately, it is, and I can report that the continental breakfast is most excellent, comprising a bowl of granola, chopped papaya (delicious!), cantaloupe, & yogurt; fresh orange juice; toast; marmalade; butter; and tea/coffee. Making breakfast a most enjoyable experience is that it was served by Gabrielle, a wonderful staff member whose friendliness and helpfulness epitomize the high standards of the hotel's bilingual staff.

The hotel is located on a quiet side street in the historical center, literally a mere 5 walking minutes from the heart of Querétaro's lively and fascinating historical center.

I am pleased to recommend this lovely hotel with enthusiasm and look forward to returning there in the future.

Located close to city centre, quiet neighborhood and surrounding by colorful architecture.
This place has a unique environment, Veronica and Osvaldo gave us the best welcoming, they’re kind, helpful and very charming, they’re making you feel welcome and gave us nice suggestions about the area.
The place is very clean, spacious and colorful, combination of Mexican art and modern touch, can’t wait to stay here again!

The hotel is super cute, with nice Mexican handcraft decor. It was very comfortable, the people at the reception desk were extremely helpful, and I appreciated that my room had two windows and a balcony. It’s located right in centro- perfect for walking. Loved it!

This is a really charming boutique-type hotel with a gorgeous Mexican design that's bright and charming. Very comfortable bed, fantastic WiFi (over 100 mbps), good hot water/shower pressure, and extremely accommodating staff. There is no a/c, but the ceiling fan worked great and Queretaro cools down nicely at night. I stayed during the hottest time of the year and was fine. Very safe with locked front door.

It's on a quiet and safe street right in the center, but a few blocks away from noise and bars. You can walk to anywhere from the hotel. Uber from the bus station is about 60-80 pesos.

Highly recommend and would stay again.

If you want to sleep go somewhere else. We requested a quiet room. But The room next to ours has a big gap above the door so zero sound proofing and they allow people to check in at 2am. We barely got any sleep the 3 nights we stayed. We could hear people next room flushing the toilet and talking. No staff speaks English which is contrary to what the website says. Cold and weak shower. The queen room is very basic with a strong smell of disinfectant and no fridge or proper desk. There is no insect screen on the windows either so the room filled with mosquitos if one wished to get some fresh air. The ceiling fan is extremely noisy. I really wanted to support a eco boutique hotel but this is just too awful. It’s not cheap either. Oh plus, the glasses provided in the room were dirty.

This lovely and comfy hotel is in a great location in the historic center--away from traffic and noise but easily accessible. Just a short walk to beautiful plazas and major attractions of Queretaro. Excellent firm beds. Major marketplace nearby displays great variety of produce, meats, prepared food, huge flower arrangements, handicrafts, and clothing--not to be missed. Within a traditional facade on a quiet street, the hotel is totally reconstructed in contemporary Mexican style, with available parking nearby. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed four days here in September, taking advantage of included continental breakfast each day, graciously presented. Service is welcoming 24 hours. A great value. Easy in and out of historic center area if driving.

We are living in Queretaro temporarily, and went to the restaurant at this hotel as it was highly recommended by a longtime resident. The food is fresh and tasty, and the decor is creative and inviting. Most of all, the staff is friendly. The location is great, within the historic center of town and near the favorite mercado La Cruz. We asked to look at rooms in case we need a place for visiting friends to stay. Lovely rooms, like the restaurant, decorated in a fresh and inviting style. Just to clarify, though, we have not stayed in the rooms, ourselves, just looked at a couple. Will definitely be going back to the restaurant.

We were treated like family in this wonderful, stylish, small boutique hotel in the middle of town. We absolutely loved our time there and can't wait to go back! Get the breakfast; it's delicious (especially the hot cakes)!

My friend and I stayed 2 nights at Hotel Mama Carlota and we were blown away by the incredible hospitality and professionalism of the staff. Grace and Patricia went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. The hotel itself is beautiful and very well-located. I highly recommend this hotel!
