Our five night safari camp adventure exceeded all expectations. The location of the camp is even better than it seems from their websites. With animals literally (safely!) on your doorstep; hippos, crocs, elephants, monkeys, ... The guides and the camp team really make the holiday and the memories. The food, drink and all the activities are all inclusive, which makes the holiday surprisingly good value for money. Not only do you see a huge variety of animals and birds, the river gives the holiday an extra dimension; river cruises at sunset, fishing, and canoeing. There are wonderful surprises arranged which you’ll have to go and see for yourself...
Amazing experience at Potato Bush — camp rooms, common facilities, meals, service and game viewing all outstanding! Staff is super kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The canoe safari is a special, unforgettable experience.
We have just spent an amazing 3 nights the the Potato Bush Camp in the Lower Zambezi National Park. It is situated next to the (posher) Sausage Tree Camp and they share the same kitchen and some staff. It is a smaller and more African style camp but we loved it all the more for that. We were a family of 4 (with 2 teenagers). We stayed in the only Family Tent - tent 4 - which has 2 lovely rooms, each with an ensuite bath and shower, and an open communal lounge and terrace with a plunge pool. It is an open camp so wildlife can and does wander through and yes there are bugs! On our first afternoon we found no less than 5 lions sleeping under the trees within metres of our rooms! On another day elephants gracefully wandered right past the plunge pool. It was simply…
What a magical part of the Lower Zambezi. Utterly spoilt from the moment of arrival to the moment I sadly left. Couldn't wish for anything more from the service to private guiding, dining and activities on offer. Potato Bush Camp exceeded my expectations.
Potato Bush Camp is simply outstanding - it is one of those rare unique experiences in your life that seems almost too special to want to share the secret. The authentic African accommodation, service, great food, canoeing, fishing and safaris(were we saw four of the big 5 plus much much more) and surprise experiences are all fabulous. But it is the amazing guides and hosts, James, Kim and Ali that made our visit here out of this world. Their skills, knowledge, passion for the Lower Zambezi and their absolute commitment to the welfare of the animals took this holiday to a whole new level. It was undoubtedly the experience of a lifetime - for our New Zealand family, the best three days ever.
Rooms were immaculate and clean.Staff and level of service were impeccable. Food was amazing considering cooking undertaken with minimal facilities. Good selection of drinks available anytime. Location of camp could not be better. Just amazing views across the river. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, always willing and smiling. Thank you Wilson, Edward, Mones and Richard. Fishing was our priority and caught more Tiger than we thougt possible. 17lbs was the biggest amongst the 5 of us and everyone caught several Tiger weighing double digits. Special thanks to our guides Ali and Charles who worked tirelessly to find the best fishing spots. Game viewing drive was wonderful with guides who could spot wildlife that seemd invisible to us. So many fond memories, too many to…
I am a local Zambian and recently visited Potato Bush with a group of overseas friends. I have visited the camp a number of times with my family and felt it long over due to sit down and write my thoughts. During my life in Africa I have visited a number of places and to me there is know better place to be than Potato Bush or Sausage Tree. The location of the camps on the Zambezi river are hard to beat being set in the Lower Zambezi National Park. The rooms are extremely spacious and luxurious, laundry is done daily and it will be hard to find a camp with staff so friendly and so experienced in their jobs. The food is five star and during our trip our guides Charles and Ali took amazing care of us. Whether we were fishing or on a game drive they were both very experienced and…
This was my 2nd trip to Potato Bush Camp following my first trip in October 2016 when we came with my wife and 2 young daughters (3 and 5 at the time). This year was a 'boys' fishing trip where we spent 5 days combining fishing and game drives. I was blown away by our first experience back in 2016 and the trip this October simply served to confirm the quality and high standards of this camp in every respect. Potato Bush strikes a perfect balance, authentic rustic African safari and high end simplistic luxury. Spacious accommodation with own private plunge pool, an intimate dining and bar area with a great camp side fire area giving that authentic sense of being in the African Bush. The quality and variety of the food was simply exquisite and would challenge any high end…
I visited Potato Bush with a group of friends for Tiger fishing and game drives. Our group had a spectacular time. The "camp" is beautifully designed as a series of raised tentlike cabins that have just the right mix of 5 star hotel luxury teamed with an authentic safari tent feel. The cabins face out onto the river with the wildlife at your fingertips (quite literally). The service and the team there (bar none) were charming, efficient, relaxed and attentive. The guides were highly experienced and very gracious hosts. The guides were as home on the water as on the drives. The lodge's own speedboats (and that of the sister facility (sausage tree)) are practically the only boats on the river. Being situated in a restricted access national park is as close to a private safari as I…
First trip to Africa and Wow did Potato Bush give the best of arrivals into the bush. Ali, our guide met us at Jeki and drove us to the river for a boat ride to our first camp of our trip. Baboons, Impala, Hippos and so many beautiful birds came out to meet us . The staff at camp were the warmest people I have met . Manager Charles , Guide Ali, our Muchinda (Butler) Richard and Bar man extrordinaire Steven made this stay the best that I have experienced anywhere. You get to chose what activity you do and when - after advice and a chat with your guide - and this made for some wonderful personal experiences. The accomodations were pure beauty and comfort and the view from your veranda or splash pool were amazing. Food - I have no idea how Potato Bush and sister camp Sausage…
