Had an amazing stay at Mukalya. The rooms are beautiful! We had an outdoor plunge pool which was amazing. Food was really good. The sauna and plunge pool overlooking the Zambezi river is just beautiful. Also, had the best massage ever at the spa. Enjoyed the sundowner boat cruise and hot spring hike. Staff were friendly too. Would definitely love to visit Mukalya again.

Excellent experience. The staff are welcoming and ensure that your needs are attended to. The food was first class and all meals are included in the accommodation fee. Very quiet relaxing environment. The rooms are comfortable. Each room has its own plunge pool that you can cool off in during the heat, looking out to the Zambezi. Each room has a mosquito net and a fan. The entire lodge is solar powered. Activities are expensive and you need to plan and budget for those. The beds could benefit from a bit more comfortable mattresses and pillows! You are in the bush and do have to share the space with some insects and I had a resident frog in the plunge pool and bathroom. I will be back as the environment and service are just perfect.

A beautiful lodge, it felt like a film set, the stylish contemporary design discretly complimenting the beauty of the location. The room was very comfortable and afforded fantastic views over the Zambezi. From our terrace we could see hippos, elephants and colourful weaver birds busily weaving their nests. At night you could hear the lions' roar from across the river. It was so atmospheric and magical. The staff were exceedingly helpful and thoughtful. The Walking Safari was amazing, it was a real priviledge to walk through the bush at dawn and see the Zebra, Giraffe and so many colourful birds without being trapped in a noisy vehicle. I cannot wait to go back and next time I wont make the mistake of opting for self catering, for although our outdoor kitchen was fully equipped and great fun to use, the food in the dinning room looked fantastic.

Amazing food, great service.. from the day we arrived, the welcome juice was heaven on our palette. Each meal felt like it was curated specifically for us and to perfection. The sunset cruise was so much fun, we learnt a lot. Looking forward to our next trip

My wife and I recently spent three nights at Mukalya in their No. 1 Exec Room with full board. Given our work lives in Lusaka we just wanted a place to decompress especially after having had no break since the onset of C-19. Claudio and Friday were very hospitable and informative from beginning to end, always open to suggestions for any improvements. Paul the chef was super: almost every dish was delicious and well presented. We particularly liked having a fixed menu (no choice, thank goodness!) but were able to ask for a small impromptu changes here and there. Our room was spacious, comfortable with a lovely view of the Zimbabwean riverbank with daily sightings of elephant, hippo, baboons, various antelope and fish eagles. Activities were available but no expectations to do anything. We did a lot of nothing. We decompressed. We had a nice time. We recommend Mukalya PGR for a relaxed, pleasant break.

Had a great couple of nights at Mukalya. The location is easy access from Lusaka. The rooms are very nice and all face the river. The service was great from arrival to departure. One absolute highlight was the food - really superb !!! some of the best food at a lodge in Zambia that I have experienced. Spent some lovely time out on the boat and whilst saw a fair bit of game - unfortunately did not manage to land the elusive Tiger Fish. Next time !!!! Would highly recommend visiting.

We spent 2 days in Mukalya lodge and we won't recommend it. Compare to other lodges in Lower Zambezy, Mukalya prices are higher with extra fees for many activities. We had several dissatisfactions but the manager and the landlord have no consideration for their clients: no hot water the first night and first morning, no drink water in the bedroom, only 1 free activity instead of 2 as paid... and at the end be careful you can be asked to drive the massage lady back to Lusaka!!! Before we left, there was nobody to carry our luggage to our car and to say goodbye to us.

Dear Camille We thank you for your honest feedback about your stay with us, much appreciated. By doing so assists us in making good our shortfalls ensuring that they do not reoccur. Regarding the hot water, as you are aware the matter was attended to with urgency, as most people know gas geysers can play up every so often and we apologize for this. Regarding activities, you are right that one activity per night of stay was included in your stay but in this instance you took up an activity of the Kariba Dam Wall excursion, which you were made aware, was not included in your package offering. We apologize should there have been any such misinterpretation or misunderstanding of entitled activities, but we did initiated compensation to you in full, including our standard activity charge in your rate, the amount of K3860, 00, paid into your account. In finality, we did falter in not providing room bottled water and not attending to the carrying of your bags on departure, this is not our standard service norm and for that we sincerely apologize. Thank you once again for your valued feedback. Kind Regards Lodge Management
