I am lucky enough to have had two trips to Royal this year. The first as a family and the second most recent with my husband to celebrate our twentieth anniversary. From candlelit bubble baths, private supper on our verandah overlooking the Zambezi to leopard and lion sightings our four nights were exquisite. The management and their team of dedicated friendly staff really made our stay out of this world. Covid has played havoc with Zambian tourism but Royal Zambezi have forged on and gone to great lengths to keep providing a top notch service. Well done RZL, hoping to squeeze in a third trip before too long!

Visited our very ‘special place’ again with our son. Spent the most amazing 5 nights in ‘Frontier’. The room was spacious and furnished superbly. We had wonderful panoramic views of the river and experienced baboons and bush buck feeding whilst relaxing on our deck. Can recommend the day bed as an awesome way to capture this beautiful spot. Thoroughly enjoyed our fishing trips with Forbes and Leo .... constantly learning from their knowledge and expertise. A massive thank you to Victor and Boyd for their encouragement and support in allowing me to climb ‘Chilapira’ ... whoop whoop! The views were absolutely outstanding from the top. As for the food - it’s absolutely amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the bush dinner. Big thanks to a wonderful team who compliment one another so well. Feel very blessed and lucky to have enjoyed such a beautiful part of Africa. A massive thank you Nats for your kindness and great hospitality. We hope to be back again soon.

Day 1 was fantastic. World class canoe safari. Day 2 was horrible. I spent 8 hours violently emptying my stomach and my intestines overnight. The next morning they refused to offer any gesture for this awful experience. "We are barely breaking even" is the line I got! Please explain how that is relevant? I suggest they reduce our drinks bill by $50, since I know they purchased these drinks for less than a third of that. Should be an easy home run. For $20 they keep a customer happy. Or why not offer a free activity, or free bottle of wine to take home...any gesture. They wouldn't budge. Felt short sighted given that there is a real likelihood I caught something or ate something while in their care that caused me to be so sick.

We visited the Royal for a lovely and relaxing 3 days. Can't fault the service and the choice of activities. Attention to the needs of the guests was uppermost. Game viewing and fishing and excellent spar. We will definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

Best hotel I’ve stayed in within Zambia and one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. The presidential suite was spacious, beautifully furnished, had an amazing view, plunge pool, day bed and the yoga matt was a nice touch. We did one activity per day and enjoyed the rest of the time just reading and playing board games in our room while watching the view and wildlife around us. The staff are the friendliest we’ve encountered and nothing is too much effort for them. The activity guides were knowledgeable and made a lot of effort with our kids. The food was great quality and plentiful. Definitely visit!!
