I have been to the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia several times. I frequently stay at the Bushcamp properties; Kapamba being one of them. I have never been disappointed. This is not a hotel. It is a small private camp that can accommodate 8 guests. It provides a true bush experience in a luxurious manner. It has open air chalets each of which has it's own plunge pool. Rooms are serviced several times a day by friendly staff. Food is excellent - they are very attentive to special dietary needs. Laundry is done daily and is included. There is no internet connectivity or cell service - you truly get away from it all. The guides are excellent. Wildlife viewing is as good as it gets. I have taken award winning photos in this area. Game drives are in well maintained Land Rovers. The vehicles can hold up to 9 guests but I have never had more than 6, often it is only our group of 2 or 4. A unique feature of Kapamba and the other Bushcamps is the walking safari. You can even hike (with a guide and scout) from one camp to another. All in all a great location at a fair price.…
To start I really appreciated Amy's welcome when I arrived at the Mfuwe Lodge in transit to Kapamba. Julius and his team were very welcoming and attentive, The food was delicious.. Charles is a great guide and I really enjoyed all the information that he shared with us during our daily morning walk and late afternoon/evening drive. Him and Sitali are an excellent team! I was pleasantly surprised when Julius and his team had drinks for us and lovely food at sun down by the Luangwa river! I really enjoyed the open fronted room, which provided a great opportunity to feel so close to nature while being in a safe environment. Thank you Julius and Charles for a great adventure,
We have been to the Bushcamps before but not to Kapamba. We were not disappointed. Julius runs a truly excellent outfit and as a small family group we were able to have the whole camp to ourselves. We were treated beautifully from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. We were even given a bush BBQ ending with a cake and wonderful singing for my son's birthday. Charles is a fascinating and knowledgeable guide for our walking safaris and Sitali is an exceptional spotter. It was a real privilege to be out in the bush with these two as our companions. The daily sightings were fantastic and breathtaking and the nighttime tiptoeing of elephants past our chalet was thrilling. Thank you so much Kapamba.
Wow - an open air, luxury room. Although the room allowed access to the bugs, I slept soundly under my mosquito netting. As I drifted off to sleep, I could hear the wildlife enjoying their evening. Makes for a peaceful slumber. Food was delicious and the staff first rate. Our room had a private 'tree house' where DH took a nap on a comfy bed and I read and took photos.
This was the next to last stop on our 4th African adventure. For me it was not my favorite and on this trip by far my least favorite. The rooms were interesting.. They are pretty open which allowed bugs entrance. There were lots of Tse flies during the day and Mosquitos at night. My first night there I had a BAT IN MY BED! The game drives were good as was the food. I spoke with the manager and was not satisfied with the results of this conversation!
